Chapter 8 Ginger Soup

When Duan Linzhou came out, he saw Lin Hu running over with his pajamas in his arms.

"Go make the bed, I'm going to take a shower." After saying that, Lin Hu crouched down and crawled under Duan Linzhou's arm, which was raised high to dry his hair, into the bathroom.

When Lin Hu came out after taking a shower, he felt that the temperature had dropped again, probably to the teens.

Lin Hu checked the system and found the temperature to be 16℃.

"Didn't you turn on the night light?" Lin Hu walked towards the bedroom and found that Duan Linzhou had put a desk and chair in the bedroom from somewhere, and he was sitting there.

"I don't feel cold. Are you cold?" Duan Linzhou said, taking out a small nightlight and placing it on one of the two bedside tables that he had somehow gotten his hands on. He put the nightlight on the table closest to the door.

The room is only missing a wardrobe, but it can't be put in now because the space is still too small. Once he reaches level three, he can choose a larger apartment.

The temperature improved immediately, and it warmed up instantly.

Lin Hu was wearing a smooth, long-sleeved pajama set. He had initially thought the fabric was a bit chilly, but now, with the nightlight on, it felt just right.

"I'm going to check on the cucumbers. If you're sleepy, go to sleep first." After saying that, Lin Hu turned around and went out. As soon as he stepped out of the house, Lin Hu shivered from the cold.

It's not that the temperature control is bad, but it's not windproof. The sea breeze reduced the temperature from 26℃ to 20℃. Luckily, my cabin was already built, otherwise even with this temperature control, I would have been in trouble.

Lin Hu went back and put on a blanket before coming out. The cucumbers were ripe, so Lin Hu picked them first and sent half to Cheng Yuan. Cheng Yuan didn't reply or accept the message. Lin Hu glanced at the time and saw that it was almost midnight. Cheng Yuan should be asleep by now.

Lin Hu glanced at the timer on the chili peppers and ginger; they would be ready in four hours. He set his alarm for 4 a.m.

He had a premonition that many people would catch a cold tomorrow, and the ginger grown on his land, which was watered with the spirit spring, would definitely have the effect of dispelling cold. That would be the first day he made a name for himself.

The reason he didn't give Cheng Yuan a nightlight today was twofold: first, he was afraid of misjudging her, and second, he wanted to wait until she was on the verge of death before making his move.

Although such a life-saving favor was somewhat despicable, he was never a pushover. As long as he gained a loyal person, the process didn't matter, as long as the result was good.

[1097: Ding! Congratulations, host, you have triggered a mission: save at least 60% of the population in the affected area during the extreme cold disaster. A surprise awaits upon completion!]

"What surprise?" Lin Hu asked, puzzled. Why did he have this mission? Wasn't his mission to help the main characters grow and develop quickly?

"1097?"

Lin Hu waited for a while but didn't get a reply from 1097. This was the first mission issued by 1097 after assisting the main characters.

Lin Hu called out a few times, but there was still no response, so he stopped worrying about it. Anyway, he was going to make ginger soup to try and save her, and now that he had the bonus from 1097, he felt it was his duty to do so.

When Lin Hu returned, Duan Linzhou was still awake, checking the chat channel. He was probably gathering information to make a worthwhile deal with all those nightlights he had.

Lin Hu said goodnight and fell asleep immediately, while Duan Linzhou replied and then turned off the system and lay down.

As soon as he lay down, a person who was a large fat man's distance away from him rolled right up to his side.

Duan Linzhou turned to face the person. The boy had long, dark eyelashes and a red mole on his right cheek, which made his skin look very white. His lips were reddish.

Lips? Red?!

Duan Linzhou's heart skipped a beat at his own focus; what a strange focus this was.

Shouldn't they just push the person back to their original position?!

Duan Linzhou stepped back, while Lin Hu leaned forward. Duan Linzhou reached out and touched the face of the person in front of him.

There was no fever, but the body felt very cold.

Duan Linzhou didn't try to avoid it; he moved forward a little, and the two of them fell asleep side by side like that.

...

At four o'clock in the morning, Lin Hu was woken up by the system alarm he had set. When he opened his eyes, he saw a wall with the same pattern as the one on his pajamas.

Lin Hu took a step back, looked up and saw the person in front of him clearly, and then realized that he had moved closer to the person in front of him.

I quietly got up and went out, then quietly closed the door behind me. I glanced at the temperature and saw it was already -6°C.

I glanced at the number of people on the world channel again.

Lin Hu remembered that the last number of people he saw was /. How could so many people die in one night? Even in extreme cold, the current temperature shouldn't be enough to freeze people to death. Could it be that they couldn't handle it psychologically...?

It looks like he won't be able to sleep tonight.

Lin Hu harvested the ginger and chili peppers. He only needed to pick the chili peppers, as the plants would continue to grow. However, he had to uproot the ginger.

Fortunately, this is a mutated plant. I pulled out a huge piece of ginger. It seems that the piece of ginger I bought before was a scrap that someone else broke off.

After cutting off the buds, Lin Hu obtained more than forty buds. After keeping ten pieces, Lin Hu teleported directly to the island to plant them.

Because the idyllic countryside is temperature-controlled, he wasn't worried about getting cold; it was even warmer than on the raft.

After planting, Lin Hu immediately went back to process the ginger.

Lin Hu realized that if he had to cook so much ginger in his pot, he might not be able to finish it by noon tomorrow, so he frantically sent messages to Cheng Yuan on the system.

[Lin Hu: Are you awake?]

Cheng Yuan had actually been woken up by the cold, but he was still lying on the bed in his wooden house without a mattress, wrapped in a thick but not warm quilt. He dared not move, afraid that the remaining warmth would escape.

He probably couldn't hold on any longer, so he opened his eyes to check on the others. But when he saw the number of people decreasing, Cheng Yuan's eyes widened in shock.

He's usually carefree, but now he's scared. These extreme cold disasters will definitely continue, and when they drop below zero, he might be among the dead.
