Chapter 53: Seeds of the Earth
As usual, he got up early to set off. Qiao Xi was now very familiar with the journey. He packed up all his belongings skillfully, climbed onto the big-tailed yak and prepared to set off.
A naughty lamb followed Josh and tried to follow him, but Josh chased him back. "There is a big bad wolf outside who wants to catch lambs for barbecue. If you don't obey, you will be caught and eaten. Go home and sleep. If you don't obey, you will be caught by the big bad wolf as punishment."
Qiao Xi spoke to the lamb in a half-threatening and half-persuasive way, and the effect seemed to be too good. The lamb was frightened by her and ran away to the sheepfold, waking up all the lambs instead.
Finally, a brown-headed vulture, which was still guarding its post in the middle of the night, flew over and calmed the lambs down with two quacks. Only then did Josh leave with peace of mind.
There were not many cars on the road in the early morning. Qiao Xi was drowsy on the back of the big-tailed yak. She always took advantage of this time to catch up on her sleep, and today was no exception.
"Moo~" Josh, Josh wake up.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong, big-tailed yak?" She lay on the yak's back, scratched the big-tailed yak's soft mane, and responded to it.
"Moo~" A strange light flashed in the dim forest last night, like the white light that burst out when a space barrier rubbed against it.
What! As soon as these words came out, Qiao Xi's sleepiness was instantly awakened. "There won't be a space rift in the Glimmering Forest! What about our farm?"
Josh was almost scared to death with cold sweats. Frequent space frictions might cause space gaps, which were unstable and uncontrollable. No one knew when something would appear from another space, making it difficult to guard against.
Only stable space gaps can be controlled by humans, and mastering the rules of opening them is called the space gate.
"Moo!" I didn't feel anything, Josh didn't need to be nervous.
The big-tailed yak comforted gently. As a high-level magical beast, it could feel the breath in the space gap. There was no unusual movement, or no unusual movement that could threaten the farm. This meant that the creatures on the other side of the space crack posed no threat to the farm.
"That's good," Qiao Xi breathed a sigh of relief. With the big-tailed yak here, she wouldn't have to be afraid of most of the magical beasts. "Luckily, I have you, the big-tailed yak." Qiao Xi hugged its neck dependently.
Although there are many house elves on the farm, the big-tailed yak is undoubtedly Josh's closest companion. No one can shake its position in Josh's mind, and it is undoubtedly the big sister in the entire farm.
However, the possible occurrence of space rifts still needs to be reported to the Federal Administration. I hope they can help investigate it and relieve Josh's worries.
So after arriving at the free market and taking a good seat, Josh went to the Federal Administration to report the situation to the staff on duty. Unexpectedly, the staff on duty was not surprised.
He told Josh helplessly that in recent days, space cracks had appeared in many places, most of which were small and unstable collisions. He asked the farmers to observe on their own. Most of their people were sent to solve several larger space cracks. He heard that there were invasions by alien creatures, so there were no extra people to help investigate, so he asked Josh to prepare himself.
Well, these words made Qiao Xi feel relieved again. Although the big-tailed yak said that it did not sense any threat, he still had to ask the brown-headed vulture to strengthen patrols when he returned.
With a lot on her mind, Qiao Xi returned to the stall somewhat frustrated, and the big-tailed yak noticed her little mood.
"Moo~" What's wrong, Josh?
"Well, the staff of the Federal Administration said that there have been a lot of space collisions recently, as well as invasions by alien creatures. There is no one to help us investigate the situation. I always feel uneasy." Josh pouted and sighed.
"Moo!" Josh, you always tend to overthink things, but don't be afraid, I'm here.
The big-tailed yak swept Qiao Xi with its huge fan-like tail. She always lacked confidence in her own abilities, or it could be said that Qiao Xi was actually an insecure person. She always wanted to develop slowly in an absolutely safe place, but this was impossible.
"Moo~" Qiao Xi, when we chose Chaoyang City, weren't we prepared to encounter space rifts at any time? You can't always spend every day in fear.
You're making too much of a fuss, you're calm and brave aren't you?
Yes, she had clearly prepared herself to face all threats when she came to Chaoyang City. Why was she so upset now by the slightest disturbance?
Josh reflected on herself. This period of peace and stability made her little heart a little fragile. She did not face this city squarely. This is a city where wealth and risks coexist. She has to get used to it.
"Big-tailed Yak, you are right. Why do I become so jumpy? It's really outrageous." Qiao Xi put down the burden in his heart and stopped thinking about things that might happen. He couldn't always be emotionally aroused by trivial things.
If enemies come, we will fight them; if water comes, we will block it with earth. The worst result is that some small monsters will come out from the gaps. Since there is no dangerous aura, why should she care?
After relaxing, Qiao Xi began to carefully set up the items for selling fish balls and run her small business.
The streets were still bustling with people, without any threat from the space gap. It was still very busy this morning. Qiao Xi had set up his stall several times and had quite a few repeat customers.
There were fewer fish balls today than before and they sold out faster, and they were easily sold out before noon.
There were more people coming later because they smelled the food, and Josh could only say regretfully that they should come back next time because it was sold out.
Of course, the last bowl was left for himself. He treated himself well. As the soft and tender fish balls slid into his stomach, Qiao Xi's bad mood for the whole morning was swept away. He hadn't eaten fish balls for a long time. They were so delicious that he drank the fish ball soup in the last gulp.
Qiao Xi quickly packed up her things and took the big-tailed yak to a less crowded place to rest, and then she went shopping as usual.
Qiao Xi didn't forget her main goal for today. She wanted to buy ground lily seeds. Although there were official seed stores, she wanted to go to the free market first to see if there were any good things.
Miaomu Street was crowded with people, and Qiao Xi was wandering around, having a great time.
"Hey, Miss Josh!"
Huh? It seems someone is calling her.
Josh made his way through the crowded crowd, locked onto the direction from which the sound came, and squeezed in.
Then I saw a bearded man waving at me excitedly.
"Mr. Luman?" Josh asked uncertainly.
"Yes, it's me. Nice to meet you again, Miss Qiao Xi." Luman smiled, revealing a pair of big white teeth in his thick beard.
"I haven't seen you for a few days. How come you are like this?" Qiao Xi was a little surprised.
The last time we met, he was still a fair-skinned middle-aged man. How come he became like this in the blink of an eye?
"Haha, because I went to the new secret space to look for seeds, I didn't take care of these. Look." He laid out a row of seed samples.
"Landing and born!" Qiao Xi was a little surprised.
Hey, I'm a bit emo today. Oh my god, is it because my writing is really boring that my grades are so bad...
