Chapter 7 Big Brother

The two old women tried to explain, but someone had already dragged them out.

The remaining managers were so frightened that they hurriedly admitted their mistakes.

Unfortunately, it was useless.

Yan Nangui didn't tell them to die, but if they couldn't hold on and died, they deserved it.

In half a day, more than forty people were dealt with.

The remaining dozen or so were trembling: two old women and nine maids. Four of the nine maids were no more than twelve or thirteen years old.

A young maidservant burst into tears, crying, "Please spare me, young lady! Please spare me! I didn't do anything! Waaah! They were stealing your food, and I even tried to stop them! Waaah..."

Yan Nangui smiled and asked, "What's your name?"

"This servant is Chunhua, sob sob, please spare my life, young lady!" Chunhua cried so pitifully.

She was terrified of being hit.

"What name? Let's change it. From now on, you'll be called Luo Kui. Would you like to be my personal maid?" Yan Nan Gui asked.

The young girl paused for a moment, then crawled a few steps on her knees: "Yes, Spring... I thank Miss for bestowing this name upon me. I will certainly serve you wholeheartedly and would never dare to have the slightest thought of disloyalty. If I do, may I be struck by lightning."

"Alright, then get up." Yan Nangui smiled.

This girl may be young, but she can be nurtured.

Then he ordered a big one: "From today onwards, your name will be Chanyi."

The maidservant hurriedly expressed her gratitude: "This servant thanks you for bestowing this name upon me, Miss. I, too, will be loyal to you and will never dare to betray you. If I were to betray you, I would rather suffer a fate worse than the four of them and never be able to rise again."

Yan Nangui smiled; she had been observing this girl for several days.

She's a very clever girl. She didn't do anything in the past, but the reason she didn't do anything wasn't because she was afraid or particularly loyal; she simply didn't want to get involved in troubled matters. She clearly understands that a legitimate wife has her own dignity.

She was a maid in the Meng family, but that doesn't matter, she's hers now.

"You may all rise. I am a man of fair reward and punishment. You need not expect any rewards from me, nor will I punish you. From now on, you can stay on the estate. When I enter the manor, I will only take two maids with me."

A concubine with two maids is considered a first-class maid; second-class and third-class maids will be assigned new ones after entering the household.

Everyone agreed and breathed a sigh of relief.

Having resolved this major issue, more than forty people were driven out of the village in one go, much to the astonishment of the guards.

This lady is quite remarkable.

However, no one dared to gossip.

Yan Nangui is recovering her health better every day, and she doesn't regret anything, taking care of herself however she needs to.

His complexion looks much better than before. However, the internal damage will take several years to recover.

Unfortunately, the magpie was killed by the Meng family the moment it was in trouble.

However, he was just an executor; the ones who actually did these things were Meng Junxian's mother and Li Shi.

She wasn't in a hurry; she would settle the score later.

On October 26th, Shuiyun Manor welcomed a person: Yan Nanxu, the eldest brother of Yan Nangui.

He rushed back for Yan Nangui, of course. No one knows what Princess Rongning said, but in any case, Yan Nangui secretly divorced the Meng family without telling her family and was then betrothed to the Crown Prince.

You should know that the Yan family is the least willing to take sides, but now everything has been disrupted.

Yan Lingyun cannot return to the capital without an imperial decree, but Yan Nanxu, although also a minor general, is ultimately unimportant and can find a way to come back for a visit.

We've traveled through wind and rain, and I'm just afraid we won't be able to meet again.

He was seething with anger, and when he was stopped outside the manor, he was about to explode.

"Go and announce her arrival! What kind of rule allows her to not see her brother?" Yan Nanxu said angrily.

The message reached inside, and Yan Nangui smiled and said, "Let my elder brother come in. I'm changing."

Fifteen minutes later, in the main hall of Shuiyun Manor, Yan Nanxu saw his younger sister Yan Nangui, whom he hadn't seen for four years.

She seems to have changed a lot.

The look in his eyes and brows is also completely different from before.

"Yan Nangui! You've gone too far! A marriage is a serious matter, how can you just divorce like that? Don't you even respect your parents? Do you think you can act so recklessly? You're utterly absurd!"

Yan Nangui looked at the man who resembled her by about 50 percent and suddenly smiled.

It's truly pathetic. This was the original owner's most outstanding elder brother, who rose to fame at a young age and served alongside their father for many years.

He was an extremely young and promising general.

They are the pride of the Yan family.

He was her eldest brother, Yan Nangui's own flesh and blood.

He was different from the domineering eldest daughter of the Yan family, and also different from the ignorant second young master of the Yan family; he was always the most outstanding.

"Which mother are you referring to, elder brother? Is it the esteemed Princess Rongning who is currently residing in the Princess's Palace? Or is it Lady Lan, who is buried at the foot of Xishan Mountain?" Yan Nangui asked calmly, looking up at him.

"What nonsense are you talking about? Look at yourself! Always like this, even if Mother were alive, she would be heartbroken to see you like this." Yan Nanxu frowned.

For years, he has always viewed his sister this way: immature and domineering.

Yan Nangui reached out and slapped him across the face.

She didn't have much strength, so even if she hit her own brother's face, it wouldn't hurt.

But this is a slap in the face.

Yan Nanxu was also stunned: "Are you crazy?"

"Of course not. This slap is for you, on behalf of your mother. It's for you, as the eldest brother, not showing any compassion for your younger siblings, and not respecting your birth mother." Yan Nangui sneered and sat back down.

"By what right do you reprimand me? My elder brother? Then where were you when I was tricked into marrying into the Meng family as soon as I came of age? You were in the army, enjoying your glory. You were a young general. Where were you when I was bullied by the Meng family, struggled helplessly, and finally suffered a miscarriage and almost died after being drugged by a concubine? I, Yan Nangui, have a father and two brothers. But no one stood up for me. In the two years since my marriage, not a single person from the Yan family has visited the Meng family."

“I am the eldest daughter of a first-rank general, yet I was forced to serve as a concubine in the Meng family. Where were you then? I’ve forgotten, we haven’t seen each other for four years. You weren’t there when I got married two years ago either… elder brother.”

Yan Nanxu was speechless for a moment. He had come to question him, and he was really angry.

How could Yan Nangui single-handedly drag the Yan family into the vortex of royal infighting?

But he couldn't answer any of her questions.

“My eldest brother thinks I’m arrogant, immature, and never considerate of you. But there are five children in the Yan family. Why are only my second brother and I like this? Were we born to be so immature? In the last few years of Mother’s life, because there was a princess in the mansion as a concubine, what was my second brother’s and my situation? Did my eldest brother ever think about that? My eldest brother went to the army with Father when he was just over ten years old. And the two of us were the eldest son’s stepmother.”

Yan Nanxu frowned: "Don't talk nonsense. How can you say such things?"

He said that, but his tone softened a bit as he sat down: "In the past, it was our fault."
