Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Wen Wan is dead.

To save the base, she used herself as bait, choosing to self-destruct to protect the humans who survived the apocalypse.

When I opened my eyes again, the first thing I saw was the antique-style interior decoration.

"Wan'er! My poor Wan'er!" Someone cried by her bedside, feeling a wet, warm touch on her hand.

Wen Wan was startled, and subconsciously pulled her hand back abruptly, her crying stopping abruptly.

"Wan'er! Wan'er, you're awake?!"

Sitting by the bed, Madam Wen wept with joy, completely unaware of her distress. She rushed to the bedside and reached out to check her temperature: "It's alright, it's alright! Waaah..."

As Wen Wan saw the situation clearly, a memory that did not belong to her suddenly appeared in her mind.

Wen Wan raised her hand and looked at her own hand. It was clean, slender, and fair, but noticeably small.

This body is only five years old. She struggled to survive in the apocalypse, and her scarred body had died. Now she has been replaced by a young and healthy body.

"Mother?" The soft, weak voice of the little girl was gentle and faint, revealing a congenital deficiency in strength, which made her even more pitiful.

As soon as Wen Wan spoke, he looked up and saw that the beautiful woman in front of him instantly had tears in her eyes and hugged him tightly.

Wenwan's body tensed up involuntarily, but after feeling the warmth of the body, she quietly relaxed and looked out the window at the lush green scenery and the surrounding Amuro Rikuri environment.

I'm certain I've been reborn.

"Wan'er, you mustn't get too close to Young Master Wenze in the future." Madam Wen hugged her and wiped away her tears, saying in a low voice, "You are a girl, and he is the eldest son. Madam Xu is currently favored by the master, so let's keep our distance from him for now, okay?"

After Madam Wen finished speaking, seeing that she remained silent, she slowly released her, and continued hesitantly, "She doesn't like you getting too close to Young Master Wen Ze. I was lucky I discovered it in time this time, but if it happens again..."

Madam Wen was speechless and could only watch Wen Wan weep silently.

Wenwan raised her hand to touch her tears, which were hot and wet, completely different from the sticky and filthy blood of the zombies. She couldn't help but smile and said in a good mood, "Okay, Mother."

"Really?" Madam Wen's eyes lit up as she carefully examined Wen Wan's expression. She had expected Wen Wan to refuse with tears and tantrums as before, but she didn't expect her to agree so easily this time.

Wen Wan tilted her head, recalling the previous events. The original owner of this body and her younger brother, Wen Ze, the eldest son of the Wen family, had agreed to go to the pond to pick lotus flowers, but Wen Ze's mother, Madam Xu, found out and forbade Wen Ze from going out.

No one expected her to be so calculating. She went to the appointment herself, spoke rudely, and took the opportunity to push the original owner of the body into the pond.

The original owner of this body was frail and suffered from a persistent high fever, which led to her death. At the same time, a woman with the same name and surname, Wen Wan, arrived from the apocalypse.

Despite being just a little girl, Wenwan nodded readily without any hesitation, raised her face, and flashed a big smile: "Of course it's true, Mother."

Madam Wen stared intently at Wen Wan's face, a somewhat stiff smile slowly spreading across her face. She gently placed her hand on Wen Wan's head and sighed.

Wen Wan kept her expression unchanged, trying her best to keep her head in place until Madam Wen gave her a few more instructions before leaving the house, at which point she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems I need to practice getting along better with people. Otherwise, why do I feel an urge to subdue someone the moment they touch me?

This time, the original owner's mother was too grief-stricken to notice anything unusual, but there was no guarantee that others wouldn't. She didn't want to be discovered for the sake of a small matter and be mistaken for a possessing evil spirit. This world was obviously much more interesting.

......

For several days in a row, Wen Wan was ordered to stay at home and recuperate. In the blink of an eye, she was able to adapt to her small body in this new world.

"Have you heard? Miss Wan has a high fever that's damaged her brain!"

"What happened? What happened?"

Wen Wan was watching ants move house by the window when she heard excited gossip outside. Wen Wan stared intently at the ants on the ground, trembling as they pulled the grains of rice along.

"Miss Wan was playful and accidentally fell into the pond that day. She developed a high fever when she came back. Madam burned incense and prayed to Buddha. She finally woke up, but she ended up becoming mentally impaired!" The maid outside the window recounted with great interest.

Upon hearing this, the other maids were shocked and exclaimed, "So Miss Wan has gone mad! No wonder! Just a few days ago I saw her staring at the weeds on the ground and laughing, and I even saw her pluck a blade of grass and put it in her mouth!"

“Yes, yes, yes! Now that you mention it, I remember seeing her drooling over Young Master Wenze’s rabbits!” a maid chimed in.

Wenwan paused in her fiddling with the ants. She had simply not seen any living creature other than zombies in a long time, and after glancing at the tender, delicious rabbit a few more times, how did that become drooling?!

Wen Wan pouted, feeling somewhat indignant on her own behalf.

"Alas, Madam Wen is so pitiful." The maid sighed, "I heard that these past few days, Madam Wen has been waiting outside the master's study every day, begging him to send a renowned physician to examine Miss's brain..."

"Who can argue with that? Miss Wan is the same. Although she was a bit dull and timid before, it was still better than being stupid like this..."

Did Madam Wen actually notice her unusual behavior?

Wen Wan's eyes darkened. No wonder she had been coming and going in such a hurry these past few days.

Wen Wan unconsciously recalled her gentle and loving embrace, and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

In her memory, the original owner of this body was obedient but also timid. Master Wen did not like her, and he also lost his tenderness towards Madam Wen.

Is it true that a mother's status rises because of her son?

Wen Wan's face darkened. She reached out and gently crushed the struggling ants in front of her. She straightened up and looked at the group of people outside the window. She said softly, "Sisters, what are you talking about? It sounds quite lively."

A smile appeared on her face, but there was no hint of amusement in her eyes; her gaze was chillingly cold. When their eyes met suddenly, it was quite unsettling.

"ah......"

Seeing the fear on their faces, and their flustered attempts to answer, Wen Wan felt it was pointless and simply said to them coldly, "Go and invite Mother over. Tell her I miss her and want to see her."

The maids never expected that their gossip about their mistress would be overheard by her. For a moment, they didn't refute her, but bowed to her and then went to find Madam Wen.

Only after turning out of the courtyard did the maid feel the chilling gaze on her back disappear. She breathed a sigh of relief and said strangely, "Miss Wan... she seems a little different..."

Another maid couldn't help but let out a soft sigh, patted her chest, and exclaimed, "How terrifying! Fools really do look terrifying!"

As she spoke, she sighed, "There used to be a fool in our village, with eyes as sinister and cold as Miss Wan's!" She added with a sigh, "Miss Wan is truly pitiful."

"I see..." The other maid shook her head, barely ignoring the strange feeling in her heart.

Qingwu Courtyard.

Wen Wan stared blankly at the sickle on the ground, her head bowed.

The jet-black scythe, faintly glowing with a red light, lay quietly on the ground, exuding a cold and lonely aura.

The ants on the ground were busily carrying grains of rice, slowly moving towards the sickle. Suddenly they stopped, dropped the grains with a thud, and scattered in all directions.

She smiled gently, coming back to her senses.

She thought she would never see it again in her life.

Black Lotus, her innate weapon.

In her previous life, during the apocalypse, a zombie outbreak left countless corpses strewn across the land. Yet, a small group of people developed supernatural abilities, which allowed them to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. Her supernatural ability was this black scythe, heavy and enormous, yet capable of changing size at her will, disappearing into her pocket or hair.

It was thanks to this scythe that she was able to survive so long in the apocalypse.

She named it Black Lotus, beautiful and dark, exuding a noble death.

Now, she has a body that is completely powerless, but it has followed her there.

Black Lotus...

Her gentle lips parted slightly, revealing an expression that didn't belong to a human child, and she sighed with a smile, "You also find this world more interesting, so you came along?"
