Is it too late to escape now?

Shinichi Kudo strongly suspects that Yomi Hagiwara is a woman sent by heaven to torment him.

But Yomi Hagiwara has always been very kind to him and Ran, treating them like younger siblings she could play with, and even becoming good friends with Sonoko Suzuki as a result. It was only in the first few days after she learned he was Conan Edogawa that she showed a terrifying, almost murderous expression.

Kenji Hagiwara bought a house in Beika 3-cho, just two blocks away from the Mouri Detective Agency.

Ran Mouri would occasionally bring Conan to visit, where they would chat with Yomi over tea at the Hagiwara residence, or ask Yomi for help with their studies.

At first, Ran Mouri would often ask Kenji Hagiwara about Shinichi, but after Shinichi Kudo gave her his phone number, Ran stopped asking around about him.

However, every time Ran Mouri excitedly says, "Shinichi seems to have solved another big case somewhere else," Yomi, sitting opposite her, will smile subtly, her beautiful blue eyes filled with amusement, and her gaze will slowly drift toward the little brat beside Ran Mouri.

Today was also the day Ran Mouri and Yomi had agreed to visit. She led Conan across two blocks, carrying a small cake she had bought from a street vendor, and rang the doorbell of the Hagiwara family's house.

The Hagiwara family's house is a typical second-hand detached house. The first floor is a parking garage, and the second and third floors are the living areas.

As Conan was being led by Ran Mouri through the first floor, he noticed that in addition to Inspector Hagiwara's sapphire blue sports car, there was also a white two-seater mini car in the garage.

The round, white mini car looks like a square loaf of bread with wheels, and the doors on both sides are painted with a cute Pomeranian pattern.

The short, chubby Mini car was cramped in half a parking space, forming a stark contrast with the sleek, cheetah-like sports car right next to it, making it easy to tell which car belonged to which person at a glance.

Ran Mouri also spotted the mini car, and she jogged a few steps closer, exclaiming, "Wow, so cute!"

Conan Edogawa strolled over slowly, hands in his pockets: "Is this Yomi-nee's new car? It looks like her old, beat-up white Toyota has been sold."

Ran Mouri frowned: "Conan, you can't be so rude."

Conan Edogawa immediately feigned innocence: "Hi~"

Conan was right. Before this mini car arrived, Yomi Hagiwara's car was a white four-seater Toyota. However, every time Ran Mouri led her to visit, Conan could find all sorts of scratches on the white Toyota, the most serious one of which even shattered the right front headlight.

The doorbell rang, and today it was Kenji Hagiwara who answered. It was rare to have Inspector Hagiwara home—thanks to Conan, the entire Metropolitan Police Department was in a frenzy of overtime. The First Investigation Division was the first to be affected, followed by the entire SM Unit.

As Kenji Hagiwara's overtime work increased, so did the frequency with which he carried a small, perpetually small white baby in his pocket.

In the murder case at Beika Shopping Mall that occurred half a month ago, Conan and his friends found suspicious items, possibly bombs, in various corners of the mall.

Kenji Hagiwara had barely arrived home, and one foot had just stepped onto the wooden floor of the entryway, when the phone in his suit jacket pocket rang.

"Hello, this is Hagiwara... No way, another bomb?... Okay, I'll head back to the Metropolitan Police Department now."

Hagiwara Yomi, who had hopped and skipped out of the room to greet people, instantly fell silent, pouting as if to say, "If you dare leave, I'll get mad at you."

When Kenji Hagiwara rushed back to the SWAT team, changed into his bomb suit, and rushed into the scene, there was already a little dumpling peeking out of his pocket.

That day, before Conan Edogawa could even feel smug after successfully solving the case in two hours, he caught a glimpse of a little dumpling struggling to climb onto the table and slapping him across the face with its paw.

The soft paw pads hitting his face caused no pain, but the Yellow Springs puppy used all its strength to slap Conan's face hard, leaving him completely bewildered.

Finally, Kenji Hagiwara, who had taken off his bomb suit and was already sweating profusely, rushed over and scooped the little dumpling off the table: "Sweetie, sweetie, it's not entirely Conan's fault that a bomb appeared. I'll take a day off next week and spend time with you, okay? Don't be angry anymore."

Conan Edogawa had two bright red paw prints on his face, his head full of question marks. He watched Kenji Hagiwara walk away, and could even hear the angry whimpers coming from the little dumpling that Kenji Hagiwara was holding in his arms.

Today, Kenji Hagiwara was home, which was a rare treat. Huang Quan was so happy that she hummed a song while cutting a watermelon in the kitchen.

"Officer Hagiwara," Conan whispered to Kenji Hagiwara, "Yomi-nee has a pretty high accident rate when she drives. Is it really okay to replace her with such a fragile Mini?"

Every time Ran Mouri leads him to visit, Conan discovers new scratches on Yomi's white Toyota.

Kenji Hagiwara popped a cherry tomato into his mouth: "Don't worry, it's because she always gets into accidents that I changed her to a mini one."

Conan asked in confusion, "Huh? Generally speaking, shouldn't people who are bad at driving and prone to accidents choose sturdy cars, like German ones? Why is Inspector Hagiwara doing the opposite and choosing a more fragile car instead?"

Kenji Hagiwara leaned back lazily into the soft sofa, resting his chin on his hand: "Soft bread's driving skills are quite impressive."

In the realm of driving skills, Kenji Hagiwara is second to none; he's a naturally gifted driver who can easily crush professional racers and stunt drivers. However, Yomi Hagiwara's driving skills are not bad either. Although she can't perform the high-difficulty maneuvers that Kenji does, she can still pull off maneuvers like drifting with ease.

This is all thanks to Huang Quan's struggles during the apocalypse.

If one cannot find a suitable road in the city and drive out safely and decisively, one will likely perish there. Huang Quan honed his superb driving skills in such a living environment.

But this also leads to another drawback, which is...

She drives really fast.

Are there pedestrians in the apocalypse?

Do we need to follow traffic rules in the apocalypse?

In the apocalypse, if you encounter a small obstacle, shouldn't you just run it over?

Hagiwara Yomi didn't dare to run over living creatures, but the ruthlessness with which she drove perfectly embodied the word "reckless," taking "seizing every opportunity" to the extreme. She always pressed the accelerator and brake pedals to the floor; speed limit? What was that? Never heard of it.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Kenji Hagiwara was so frightened by Yomi's reckless driving that he fastened his seatbelt tightly and smacked her on the head with his backhand: "How many times have I told you, this isn't the apocalypse. Obey the traffic rules!"

After being hit on the head for the nth time, Huang Quan curled up in the corner with his hands covering his head, his face scrunched up in grievance: "You're mean to me in my second year of graduate school, and you often break traffic rules too."

Kenji Hagiwara crossed his arms, too angry to try and appease anyone. Both were traffic violations, but if his driving was "showing off," then Yomi's driving was "pure recklessness"—the nature of the violations was completely different.

After much deliberation, Kenji Hagiwara found a solution—as long as the minivan wasn't the type that would trigger her memories of the apocalypse. In a post-apocalyptic world, choosing a vehicle requires considering either performance, including speed, or interior space and cargo capacity. Since that's the case, he decided to do the opposite and simply buy a minivan that only met his basic needs in terms of space and performance.

Kenji Hagiwara's motivation for choosing the flimsy Mini car was perfectly reasonable; he just couldn't explain it to Conan Edogawa.

Like other secrets he couldn't explain about the exit.

For example, the last time he and Matsuda took Yomi to a hot spring, they encountered Conan Edogawa and the murder case Conan brought to them at the hot spring inn.

The male victim was lying on his back in the closed room, with the doors and windows locked from the inside.

When Kogoro Mouri arbitrarily concluded that the crime scene was a suicide, Conan immediately became agitated: "Uncle Kogoro, this is a locked-room murder! It's not suicide!"

Kogoro Mouri shrugged it off: "Then tell me, how did the murderer get into the locked room? Although the door can be pushed open, it's locked with a latch, and you can only push it open about half a hand's width. It's impossible for a human to get in; they're not a witch who can transform into a cat or dog."

After Kogoro finished speaking, Hagi and Matsu simultaneously turned to look at Yorikawa Yomi, who was squatting outside the crime scene waiting for them to handle the case.

Conan, noticing the two officers' gazes: ...?

Afterwards, Conan Edogawa tried to get the truth out of the two police officers, but both attempts failed. Kenji Hagiwara was too intelligent; it was good enough that Conan didn't try to trick him into revealing information, let alone try to get it out of him.

As for Matsuda Jinpei… he's straight, that's true, but he's also the most imposing figure in the Metropolitan Police Department. Every time Conan tries to get close enough to say five words, he's driven back by Matsuda Jinpei's terrifyingly low-pressure aura.

Conan firmly believes that the underworld is a tribulation sent to him by God, and no one around him causes him more trouble than the underworld.

It wasn't until half a month later, during a tailing operation to track Gin, that Conan Edogawa stumbled upon the identity of the man who had come to receive the mission.

The chewing gum stuck to Gin's feet was continuously transmitting his and Vodka's conversation into Conan's earpiece. Conan, riding his speeding skateboard that was starting to smoke, chased the red dot on his glasses southward.

After the red dot finally stopped moving, and after waiting for about three minutes, Conan heard an unexpected third sound.

"Hmph, Gin, what do you want with me?"

Gin sneered, "Slow, Glenn."

Conan: !!!

Although he hadn't had much contact with him, he was quite certain that the voice of the man Gin referred to as "Glentz" belonged to Officer Matsuda.

One of the snipers in the SWAT team is actually an undercover agent for the organization within the Metropolitan Police Department!?

Damn it, he had to find a way to remind Officer Hagiwara and Sister Yomi!

Conan Edogawa felt a chill run through him, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to burst out of his throat. But he refused to give up, clinging to the hope that perhaps it was just a similar voice.

But the next second, the fourth voice was like a bucket of ice water that poured over Conan Edogawa.

Gin: "Where's that corrupt cop? You guys aren't up to any tricks, are you?"

Kenji Hagiwara's distinctive, melodious voice came through the bug: "Oh dear, how terrifying, Gin."

Conan Edogawa: A corrupt cop? ???

Huh?

Are both aces in the Mobile Suit Gundam team corrupt?

The undercover agent was right next to me!?

In late autumn of October, Conan Edogawa experienced sweating profusely in the cold wind for the first time. Cold sweat covered his back, and his heart was pounding as if it would jump out of his throat. Was it too late to go back, pack his bags, and run away with Ran and Uncle Mori?

By the way, let me promote my new novel, "How to Reject a Marriage Proposal Using Detective Conan's Method." I won't post the synopsis; I'll just give you the content:

It's a fanfic featuring everyone. The female lead resists marriage and having children, only enjoying romance. She's not a good woman in terms of her views on love, but she's not bad either (she clearly tells the other person her principles and views on love before starting a relationship, and only dates if they can accept them). She's incredibly capable at work. The current plan and outline have an open ending; she'll end up with someone, but I won't explicitly say who that person is, just guess. (I'm a big fan of the police academy group, although I want them all, but JJ (the game developer) won't allow it, sob sob.)
