You broke up.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan's panicked face was reflected in Hagiwara Kenji's eyes. She shrank her neck like a quail and stared at him for about ten seconds before suddenly turning and running away.

But when the two first met, even if Yomi Laichuan ran three seconds ahead, Kenji Hagiwara was still able to catch up with her while wearing a heavy riot gear.

Kenji Hagiwara, dressed in a casual suit, caught up with Yomi Laichuan in just a few steps.

He gripped Lai Chuan Huang Quan's wrist tightly, his face completely devoid of a smile.

Kenji Hagiwara said coldly, "Soft bread."

Lai Chuan Huang Quan bit her lower lip, secretly glancing at Hagiwara Kenji before quickly lowering her gaze. She dared not meet his eyes, much less speak to him.

Eyes from all directions swept back and forth between the two, their anxious gazes filled with gossip and anticipation.

If there were a bullet screen comment feature, the sky would probably be filled with words like "Exciting!!", "Let's get this heated! Hurry up!" and "I want to force him to speak!"

Kenji Hagiwara glanced around and said, "Come with me." He grabbed Yomi Rikawa's wrist tightly and dragged her toward the parking lot.

Behind him, a group of colleagues who loved gossip craned their necks and kept looking, wishing they could follow him and put their ears right up to Hagiwara's car door.

Kenji Hagiwara locked the passenger door from the driver's seat. After turning on the air conditioning, he did nothing else but tap the steering wheel repeatedly with his fingers.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan curled up, wishing she could curl herself into a ball, and desperately squeezed towards the car door, her shoulders pressed tightly against the car window.

A vacuum strip, more than half an arm's length long, stretched between the two, a distance that Hagiwara Ken could easily pull Yomi Lai into his arms with just two outstretched arms.

What was just a few feet away seemed like a wide river to Kenji Hagiwara, quite an eyesore.

Kenji Hagiwara felt a tightness in his chest, like a fool taking off his diving suit and directly experiencing the pressure of the deep sea; every breath brought on a wave of pain.

Kenji Hagiwara was furious and wanted to ask Yomi Raikawa what had happened in their breakup. He couldn't understand what he had done wrong to be dumped so inexplicably.

The colder and more silent Hagiwara Kenji remained, the less Raikawa Yomi dared to utter a sound—she truly didn't know how to explain her boyfriend to Hagiwara.

Swallowing hard, Lai Chuan Huang Quan glanced at Hagiwara Kenji, whose face was dark, before silently turning his gaze to the car window.

Kenji Hagiwara, having caught Yomi Rikawa's little tricks, became even angrier.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, forced himself to suppress the irritation in his heart, and said, "I was in a meeting today and didn't have time to reply to your text message. I didn't mean to, please don't be angry, okay?"

He tried his best to appear gentle and considerate, but the emotions accumulating inside him were causing him great distress. When he spoke, his deep, resonant voice inevitably sounded unnatural.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan didn't turn around. She stared intently at the meaningless background of the garage outside the window and mumbled a "hmm".

She felt guilty and wished she could disappear into a hole in the ground—she had no right to be angry, but the stupid police officer still lowered himself and took the initiative to coax her.

If Kenji Hagiwara found out she had a boyfriend, he would definitely think she was a scumbag. The alliance they had just formed might fall apart because of this, and Kenji would most likely never speak to her again.

Kenji Hagiwara glanced at the woman who was still curled up in the passenger seat, acting all sulky, and asked cautiously, "Are you still angry?"

Lai Chuan Huang Quan paused for a moment, then said in a muffled voice, "...He's not alive."

Kenji Hagiwara: "Shall we go have dinner? I'll take you to eat your favorite oden."

Lai Chuan Huang Quan turned her gaze away from the car window, but she still didn't look at Hagiwara Kenji. Instead, she stared at her legs and said, "I don't want to go."

Yomi Laichuan's rejection froze the smile that Kenji Hagiwara had managed to force on his face. He stared intently at Yomi Laichuan, making her feel a little uneasy.

“Huang Quan,” Kenji Hagiwara rarely called Huang Quan by his name directly. He said, “You have to give me an explanation. What exactly is going on with your decision to break up?”

The core issue was pointed out directly, and the last fig leaf was cruelly torn off. Lai Chuan Huang Quan's first reaction was to pull the car door and try to escape.

But once the car was locked from the driver's seat, the passenger side door couldn't be opened at all. No matter how hard Lai Chuan and Huang Quan pulled the door handle, making a clicking sound, the door remained unmoved.

Kenji Hagiwara rested his chin on his hand, coldly watching Yomi Raikawa's futile struggles. Unless he opened the door, Yomi Raikawa had absolutely no chance of escaping from the car—especially since the driver's seat could also control the windows.

After struggling for a while, Yomi Laichuan realized the terrible truth. Her movements as she pulled on the car door became slower and slower until she stopped. Even so, Yomi Laichuan still didn't dare to look back at Kenji Hagiwara.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan's guilty conscience level is off the charts; all he wants to do right now is find a coffin, lie down inside, and pretend to be dead.

"Soft bread".

Kenji Hagiwara called out to Yomi Yorikawa again. Although he didn't call her by her name directly like before, it wasn't the sweet, lingering way he used to do it.

Anyone could tell that Kenji Hagiwara was angry.

"I……"

Lai Chuan Huang Quan hesitated, scratching her head and touching the back of her neck for a long time before finally saying in a soft voice, "I... I actually have a boyfriend named Midorikawa Hikaru."

Lai Chuan Huang Quan was afraid that Hagiwara Kenji would turn on her after hearing that she had a boyfriend, so she didn't give Hagiwara a chance to interrupt and immediately raised her voice to throw out the second half of the sentence: "But we are not really boyfriend and girlfriend, and I don't like him!"

“I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to explain why I suddenly appeared at the bombing scene, so I just made up a reason. I didn’t expect Mr. Midorikawa to agree to it.”

Lai Chuan Huang Quan stared intently at Hagiwara Kenji, his eyes wide, afraid of missing any reaction on his face.

She continued, "I... I plan to find an opportunity to break up with Mr. Midorikawa, that's all."

After saying that, Yomi Laichuan immediately lowered his head, not daring to look at Kenji Hagiwara again.

As for Hagihara Kenji...

He remained silent, maintaining his previous posture.

A ten-second silence seemed to freeze the air. Kenji Hagiwara stared blankly at Yomi Yorikawa, his mind blank. The next second, Hagiwara coughed lightly, feigning composure, and turned his head to the other window. His face was as red and hot as a shrimp just pulled from boiling water.

Damn it! He completely forgot that Morobuchi Kagemitsu was a fake boyfriend who was just a pushover!

Yomi Laichuan's confession was like a bucket of ice water, and only then did Kenji Hagiwara snap out of his angry and anxious state. He belatedly realized that he and Soft Bread hadn't even been officially dating.

But Kenji Hagiwara believes that this is not his fault.

Having spent every day with a soft-spoken friend, his first reaction upon hearing the word "breakup" was naturally that he was about to be dumped.

Raising his hand to cover his flushed face, Kenji Hagiwara mentally berated himself for being stupid. He casually turned on the air conditioner, but secretly intended to use the cold air to quickly cool his face.

"Ahem," Kenji Hagiwara cleared his throat, suppressing the smile that kept welling up inside him. He frowned and pretended to be serious, saying, "This matter is indeed quite serious. Relationships are not trivial matters. Let's go and talk to the other party about it now."

He shifted gears and stepped on the gas: "By the way, let's call Kojinpei along the way. He hasn't seen Komorofushi in a long time either."

Huang Quan: ...?

Lai Chuan Huang Quan's anxious emotions froze instantly. She turned to look at the man beside her: "How do you know Midorikawa Hikaru's real name? Do you two know each other?"

As Kenji Hagiwara pulled out his phone and dialed Jinpei Matsuda's number, he replied with a laugh, "Oh right, we're from the same cohort. And not only Morofushi, but the other person you're helping, Wataru Date, is also from our cohort. ... The call's connected. Hello, Jinpei, I'm coming to pick you up now. ... Go see Morofushi Kagemitsu, you'll find out soon enough."

Kenji Hagiwara talked animatedly, while Yomi Rikawa looked him up and down before looking away with a puzzled expression.

It couldn't be her imagination; Hagiwara Kenji seemed to have suddenly become very happy, even a little excited. Although she couldn't understand the source of Hagiwara Kenji's happiness, as long as he wasn't angry with her, everything was fine.

Yomi Yorikawa was convinced that it must be because Kenji Hagiwara hadn't seen Kagemitsu Morofushi for a long time.

...

Kenji Hagiwara had already finished get off work late today. After he picked up Jinpei Matsuda, the three of them had dinner and then went to the bar, which was already evening.

Kenji Hagiwara, dressed in a white shirt and suit pants without a tie, lazily followed behind Yomi Laichuan, but couldn't help but smile, almost humming a song and swaying his body.

The bartender standing guard at the door was originally going to stop Kenji Hagiwara—when he last appeared at the bar and took Yomi Raikawa away, she called him "damn police officer."

This man is a police officer.

But the waiter glanced at the curly-haired man in a suit whose shoulder was being draped by Kenji Hagiwara, and fell into deep thought.

Matsuda Jinpei was dressed in a black suit, even his shirt was black. He wore large sunglasses, was unsmiling, and exuded a terrifying aura. Even if he did nothing, just standing there was enough to make those around him silently take a half step back.

—Could this curly-haired man be a high-ranking official in the organization?

—If I stop them, will I get beaten up?

After a fierce internal struggle, the waiter on duty at the door ultimately chose to pretend he knew nothing.

He arbitrarily concluded that Kenji Hagiwara must be a corrupt cop, otherwise why would he be involved with the organization's leaders and be called a "bastard cop"?

It was quite exciting, though; the corrupt cop stole the girlfriend of one of the organization's members.

This is going to be a good show.

In the dimly lit bar, Morofushi Kagemitsu, holding a guitar, slowly sang an ambiguous ballad.

As Kenji Hagiwara and his group entered through the main gate, Hiromitsu Morofushi noticed them. However, he only glanced at them briefly before immediately looking away.

During halftime, Morofushi Kagemitsu approached them with a sullen face.

Several empty beer bottles were scattered at Matsuda Jinpei's feet, and most of the snacks on the table had been eaten, as if they really were just there to drink.

Morofushi Kagemitsu scanned the three of them with his upturned cat-like eyes, finally settling on Raikawa Yomi.

He asked, "What is your relationship?"

It's a double entendre. On the surface, it seems to be condemning and questioning the girlfriend's relationship with an unknown member of the opposite sex, but in reality, it's expressing concern for the safety of her peers.

But Kenji Hagiwara didn't answer. He sneered and pulled an envelope stuffed with money from inside his coat, slapping it in front of Morofushi Hiromitsu: "Hmph, I brought her here today just to let you know that you two broke up. This is your breakup fee."

Morobuchi Kagemitsu: ...?

What nonsense are you talking about?

Matsuda Jinpei: ...?

Didn't we agree that this time you'd treat me to drinks and, incidentally, watch me busk?

Yomi Laichuan: ...?

Didn't you say you'd let me handle it myself? You guys are just here to encourage me.

Seeing that Morofushi Hiromitsu hadn't accepted it, Hagiwara Kenji crossed his legs, picked up the envelope, and slammed it in front of Morofushi Hiromitsu again: "I advise you not to be too greedy. Hurry up and accept it, or else..."

Morifushi Kagemitsu frowned. He picked up the envelope containing several large bills, glanced at it, and then put the money in his pocket—there was a note inside the envelope.

Seeing that Fushige Kagemitsu understood his meaning, Hagiwara Kenji raised one eyebrow and gave a satisfied smile.

When Kenji Hagiwara picked up Yomi Yorikawa from the bar last time, he noticed the strange atmosphere there. Combining Morofushi Kagemitsu's special identity with the information Yomi had given him, Kenji Hagiwara immediately understood something.

He raised his chin, his face full of smugness: "You're smart to know what's good for you."

But I have to say, he really enjoyed playing the role of forcibly taking away another man's sweetheart.

Matsuda Jinpei glanced at Morofushi Kagemitsu and immediately realized there was something in the envelope. Only Yomi Yorikawa, sitting between the two, tilted her head blankly, a question mark appearing between her brows—you damn officer, did you drink fake alcohol and get poisoned today? What are you doing?
