My stinky dad found out.

Yomi Laichuan achieved outstanding results in both the general entrance examination and the second examination held by the University of Tokyo, making her admission to the University of Tokyo almost a certainty.

Mr. Raikawa wanted Raikawa Yomi to study law at the University of Tokyo. Raikawa Yomi agreed on the surface, but secretly applied for a mechanical engineering major behind everyone's back. Even Kenji Hagiwara was unaware of this.

This is the most rebellious thing that Raikawa Yomi has done in the past eighteen years.

She didn't want to obey anymore; she wanted to do what she liked.

The day the acceptance letter arrived home, a strong wind blew and large raindrops pounded against the windowsill.

The words "Admission" were written in black on a light yellow cardboard sheet, and the University of Tokyo's logo would stand up when the sheet was opened. Lai Chuanhuang's name was highlighted in bold, and the word "Mechanical Engineering" in the major section was highlighted in red, with indentations that could be felt when touched.

Mr. Lai Chuan clutched the exquisitely crafted admission letter from the University of Tokyo, his breathing growing heavy, his hands trembling uncontrollably. He closed his bloodshot eyes, veins bulging on his forehead.

After taking a few deep breaths, Mr. Lai Chuan slammed the admission notice heavily onto the coffee table.

He was furious, and slammed his hand down so hard that the glass on the table bounced up.

"Yorikawa Yomi!"

Mr. Lai Chuan lowered his voice, like a lion crouching in the jungle, slowly closing in before launching a fierce attack.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan was so startled that he shrugged.

But she quickly straightened her back and raised her head like a proud rooster.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan's unrepentant attitude completely enraged Mr. Lai Chuan. He slowly tightened his fingers, so much so that the veins on the back of his hand bulged high. Flames burned in his chest, scorching his blood.

Mr. Lai Chuan was so angry that he wanted to beat Lai Chuan Huang Quan to a pulp, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

"Lai Chuan Huang Quan," he said, gritting his teeth so hard they seemed to break, "From today onwards, you will stay at home and reflect on your actions. You are not allowed to go anywhere."

After saying that, he pounded on the door so hard it shook the house, and stormed out.

As soon as Mr. Lai Chuan left, Lai Chuan Huang Quan picked up his small satchel, bent over, looked around, and after confirming that it was safe, he jogged out the door.

Downstairs at Lai Chuan's apartment building, Kenji Hagiwara had been waiting for a while, playing on his phone under the streetlights.

As soon as the bright red dress appeared at the entrance of the building, he put away his phone and approached her with a smile: "I just saw an uncle in a suit with a slicked-back hairstyle. Is he your father?"

Lai Chuan Huang Quan gripped the strap of his bag, his face instantly contorting: "Don't mention him."

Upon hearing this, Kenji Hagiwara smiled, raised his hand and ruffled Yomi's hair repeatedly until Yomi couldn't take it anymore and pounced on him with a few tufts of ruffled bangs sticking up to bite his hand.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan didn't use much force; she just made a show of fierceness by taking two bites and then spitting it out. She angrily took two steps back, smoothing her ruffled bangs with her fingers: "See if you dare ruffle my head again!"

The bitten area was shiny and glistening with a little saliva. Hagiwara Kenji wiped his hands, smiled, and tossed a helmet to Raikawa Yomi: "Let's go, Jinpei is already waiting for us at the yakiniku restaurant."

The marbled meat sizzled on the hot plate, and even when eating grilled meat, a food that requires wrapping the meat in lettuce with your hands, Lai Chuan Huang Quan was very polite.

Whether it was luck or misfortune, in the past, when eating, Yomi Laichuan always sat upright, like a violinist about to go on stage. But after spending so much time with Kenji Hagiwara and the others, Yomi Laichuan finally shed the suffocating constraints that weighed her down, picking up her plate and joining the frenzy for meat. Forget about proper chopstick placement, not holding your bowl while eating, not talking while eating... to hell with all of that!

Aside from her still elegant movements when feeding herself, she has completely let loose.

Fortunately, Lai Chuan Huang Quan hadn't completely lost her manners; in front of others, she was still a well-behaved and dignified young lady. Otherwise, Mr. Lai Chuan would have immediately uncovered all the details of her running wild and having fun outside every week.

As dusk deepened, Yomi Laichuan, with her arm around Kenji Hagiwara's waist, giggled on the back of the motorcycle. The wind whistled past, and the headlights of passing cars left trails of afterimages.

It was already evening when Kenji Hagiwara took Yomi Laikawa home. Every time they parted, Yomi Laikawa would chat with Kenji Hagiwara for a few minutes downstairs before leaving. Today, as usual, she was holding her helmet and chatting with Hagiwara, but she noticed that Kenji Hagiwara glanced behind her and suddenly stopped smiling.

A tall figure loomed over from behind, blocking out the large sliver of light slanting down from above.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan stared at the dark figure pressing forward from behind, swallowing hard with a gurgling sound. Her eyes widened, and she even forgot to breathe. Her neck, like a rusty instrument, jerked as she turned her head to look behind her.

But without even looking, she knew who was approaching from behind like an angry rhinoceros.

"Dad, Dad..."

...

Lai Chuan Huang Quan was sent back home.

She squatted on the edge of the living room balcony, her little face pressed against the glass, gazing longingly downstairs—Kenji Hagiwara, now blurred into two tiny mosaic figures, was talking to her stinky old man downstairs.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan didn't know what they talked about, but her intuition told her it couldn't be anything good.

In Lai Chuan Huang Quan's mind, her stinky father was domineering, stubborn, and unreasonable. For every unique compliment she could find to praise the world's best Hagiwara Kenji, she could also find just as many derogatory terms to hurl at her father's face.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan was even prepared to be scolded by her father, who would slam his fist on the table. After all, her father had just lost his temper that morning because of something related to his profession.

But it was unexpected.

When Mr. Raikawa returned, he did not reprimand Raikawa Yomi. He simply told Raikawa Yomi to spend less time with Hagiwara Kenji.

Mr. Lai Chuan crossed his arms and asked, "Are you two in a romantic relationship?"

The direct question made Lai Chuan Huang Quan's face flush red instantly. She clutched her skirt and slowly shook her head.

Upon hearing this, he frowned and said, "Then spend less time with him."

Mr. Yaikawa does not like Hagiwara Kenji.

In his eyes, Hagiwara was just a brat who appeared out of nowhere.

Moreover, two days ago, Mr. Lai Chuan had already arranged with his old partner to introduce his youngest son, who was studying at Dongyi University, to Huang Quan. He knew the boy well; he was humble, polite, intelligent, knowledgeable, and of good character—a man he knew inside and out. He could only feel at ease entrusting Lai Chuan and Huang Quan to that boy.

Thinking this through, Mr. Lai Chuan stared intently at the shy young girl in front of him, her ears red and her face trembling. He was already planning to introduce his colleague's son to Huang Quan as soon as possible. He didn't make things too difficult for Lai Chuan and Huang Quan, but in addition to the rule that "they must be home by 10 p.m.", he also set a rule that "they are not allowed to go out alone with members of the opposite sex".

The rules have been established, but whether Yomi Yorikawa will abide by them is another matter entirely.

The next day, as soon as the sound of the front door closing came from the living room, Lai Chuan Huang Quan immediately took out his phone, lay on the bed swinging his little feet, and excitedly sent a message to Hagiwara Kenji.

"My dad's gone out, second-year graduate student, come pick me up! (*^▽^*)"

"Yes, sir! Coming right now!"

Lai Chuan Huang Quan rolled out of bed, rummaged through the drawer and pulled out the cosmetics she had secretly bought a couple of days ago. She then picked out three or four dresses that she thought were the prettiest, and compared them to herself in the mirror.

Long, thick eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings as she blinked. Lai Chuan Huang Quan pursed her lips in front of the mirror, a subtle tomato red shimmering evenly blended onto her lips. This was Lai Chuan Huang Quan's first time wearing makeup, and she was awkward and inexperienced. Her fingertips rubbed against the smooth mirror surface as she stared intently at her reflection, her face instantly turning red.

My heart raced, and my face flushed rapidly. Even though I wasn't wearing any blush, my cheeks were already rosy.

My phone vibrated twice at just the right moment. It was Kenji Hagiwara; he was already downstairs.

Lai Chuan Huang Quan pursed her lips, both excited and shy, her heart pounding wildly. Anticipation surged within her; what would Hagiwara Kenji's expression be when he saw her? Would he compliment her on her beauty?

On second thought, Yomi Laichuan became worried again.

Even though she had only applied a simple base, mascara, and lipstick, without doing anything else, Lai Chuan Huang Quan was already worried that she might be going too far. She covered her flushed cheeks, wondering what she would do if Hagiwara Kenji saw through her little scheme.

"I'm coming down now."

Lai Chuan Huang Quan's fingers trembled as she replied to the message, making several mistakes in just one short sentence. She picked up her handbag, clutched her chest, and slowly exhaled, then clenched her fist to encourage herself.

As soon as she stepped out of the room, she met the eyes of Mr. Lai Chuan, who was sitting on the sofa with a stern face.

Yomi Yomi: !!!

Mr. Lai Chuan frowned, tapping his fingers incessantly on the sofa armrest: "Lai Chuan Huang Quan, come here and sit down."

He knew that this little girl would sneak out after he left.

This girl used to send him a text message to let him know when she went out.

He didn't know when it started, but this girl began to hide things from him, never saying a word. Every time, she would pretend to be studying hard at home, but secretly run out of the house behind his back.

"Sit down, there are some things I'd like to talk to you about."

But Lai Chuan Huang Quan didn't go. She crossed her arms and turned her head to one side, looking completely unyielding.

Seeing this, Mr. Lai Chuan frowned even more, but he still suppressed his anger: "Where do you plan to go, and who are you going with?"

Lai Chuan Huang Quan pouted and said, "It's none of your business."

Mr. Lai Chuan snorted coldly, almost laughing in anger. This girl eats his food, uses his things, and then turns her head away, refusing to be bothered by him.

Ever since the divorce, this girl has become more and more rebellious, constantly finding ways to provoke him.

He just wanted to protect her.

“Huang Quan, sit down,” Mr. Lai Chuan said, softening his tone as much as possible. “I should really talk to you about the things to keep in mind when interacting with the opposite sex.”

Women are already at a disadvantage in relationships, and now there's all sorts of messy, scandalous news about love affairs. Today someone cheated on their partner, today someone was cheated out of money and affection—Mr. Lai Chuan doesn't want his daughter to suffer in relationships.

As a result, Lai Chuan Huang Quan raised his head, snorted coldly, and turned his head to the side, refusing to listen or look.

Mr. Lai Chuan was secretly angered by his daughter's relentless resistance. He gripped the sofa armrests tightly, suppressing the anger that was about to erupt.

Just as war was about to break out, the doorbell rang suddenly.

Mr. Lai Chuan suppressed his anger, glared at Lai Chuan Huang Quan, and got up to open the door.

It’s Kenji Hagihara.

The smiling man first bowed to Mr. Lai Chuan, then politely said, "Hello, Uncle. I'm here to pick up Huang Quan. I plan to take her to see a movie later and then stroll around the streets. I'll bring Huang Quan back safely after dinner."

It demonstrates the politeness that a junior should have, as well as sincerity and demeanor.

Mr. Raikawa was pleased with Kenji Hagiwara's performance. He relaxed his brow and his anger subsided slightly: "Besides you, is there anyone else?"

"Yes, I have a few more friends, both boys and girls."

The only one who's lying is Matsuda Jinpei.

Judging from Yomi Laichuan's usual descriptions and the brief contact when he brought her back last night, Mr. Laichuan would definitely be furious if he knew that his precious daughter had gone out with two grown men.

Therefore, Kenji Hagiwara decisively chose to conceal the truth.

Mr. Lai Chuan wanted to ask a few more questions, but the police department suddenly called. He turned his back and pressed the answer button, his brows furrowing more and more.

He lowered his voice, his face turning frighteningly dark: "I'm on my way there now."

In recent years, the police department uncovered a mysterious organization while investigating an illegal smuggling case. They invested a lot of police resources, materials, and money, but something seems to have happened: one of the undercover police officers was exposed and is now on the run.

After hanging up the phone, Mr. Lai Chuan turned to look at Lai Chuan Huang Quan.

The little maid, whose features resembled those of Lady Lai Chuan, stood with her hands behind her back, her cheeks puffed out, looking defiant.

Mr. Lai Chuan has many words of advice he wants to give.

Protect yourself when you're with men; don't give yourself away easily; don't let a man's words sway you...

But time is a relentless, swift knife; with each passing second, darkness creeps in a little deeper. He couldn't abandon his colleague, struggling on the edge of life and death, for the sake of a personal matter.

In the end, Mr. Raikawa simply patted Kenji Hagiwara on the shoulder and said, "I'm entrusting my daughter to you today."

After saying that, he turned and left in a hurry.

After Mr. Lai Chuan left, Lai Chuan Huang Quan immediately put on a sweet smile: "What brings you here, second-year graduate student?"

Kenji Hagiwara smiled, winked, and tossed out a little star: "Seeing that you hadn't come down, I guessed that you must have been stopped by your uncle, so I rushed over to rescue you."

He took two steps forward, bent his finger and brushed it across Lai Chuan Huang Quan's nose: "You look absolutely gorgeous today."

The moment he stepped into the room, he noticed the vibrant red on Lai Chuan Huang Quan's lips, just like her, dazzling and captivating. He had only refrained from looking too closely because Mr. Lai Chuan was present.

Kenji Hagiwara lowered his body, curved his gentle eyes, and gazed earnestly at Yomi Laichuan: "Like the most dazzling little star in the sky, sparkling brightly."

The sweet, cloying finish rises slightly, like a feather brushing across the palm, making one's heart itch with desire.

Her heart pounded, and Raikawa Yomi's eyes widened, her sky-blue, glassy pupils reflecting Hagiwara Kenji's features. She blushed involuntarily, her bright eyes darting around, desperately avoiding eye contact with Hagiwara Kenji.

On the day they first met, Kenji Hagiwara's soothing words in a soft voice planted a seed in Yomi Ryukawa's heart.

After the spring rain, her heart was filled with joy.
