Chapter 53 Delivering Medicine "I know you're in pain, that's why I came."...

Tang Yi's ankle wasn't sprained badly; she could walk normally. Therefore, she insisted that Assistant Zhou drive the car back, as it was getting late.

The two stood at the hospital entrance, and Zhang Minglang asked her if she wanted to go back to her own home or his.

Tang Yi even joked, "Did you come along too?"

Zhang Minglang had a "of course" expression on his face.

Night fell, and the air had already turned chilly. Tang Yi was wearing Zhang Minglang's coat, which still carried his distinctive laundry detergent scent.

Zhang Minglang seemed worried that she had twisted her ankle and couldn't walk, so he put one hand behind her back and grabbed her shoulder, using some force to pull her into his arms, the warmth of his embrace bringing her some comfort.

Beneath their coats, Tang Yi and he held hands tightly.

She chatted with him about these random things the whole way, just hoping he wouldn't think about the sudden events that had happened that night.

But Zhang Minglang on top of him wasn't in a good mood, only occasionally letting out a soft "hmm" from his throat. His Adam's apple trembled through his thin skin as he spoke, and Tang Yi's hair, which was close to his head, swayed slightly with it.

Tang Yi knew she couldn't keep changing the subject like this.

She suddenly took a few steps forward and stepped out of his arms, which really startled him.

Zhang Minglang followed, still gripping her arm tightly, and looked at her ankle, his expression instantly becoming tense.

Tang Yi stopped facing him, her tone helpless: "Don't look anymore, my foot is really fine."

The roadside was bustling with traffic, with countless cars whizzing by. The streetlights cast their light onto Zhang Minglang's hair, making him appear to glow.

However, he kept his head down, his voice muffled: "Don't find me annoying, I'm just worried..."

Tang Yi grabbed his hands with both of hers, interrupting him: "I've never found you annoying."

Zhang Minglang looked up at her.

Tang Yi seemed to remember something and shook her head: "No, when we first met, I was quite annoyed with you."

She felt her hands being held tighter. But she didn't succumb to his "threat," and instead looked up at the sky to begin her recollection.

A withered leaf fell from the tree roots, swirling down and landing quietly on the road.

“I was tricked into going on this blind date, so I'm taking it out on you; when I met you in Heaven, I thought to myself, how unlucky I am that you would discover my secret.”

Tang Yi, her eyes crinkling, recounted her initial feelings, her voice softer than the rustling of leaves in the wind.

"...Later, when we met at the company, you always made things difficult for me and did some inexplicable, childish things. Do you remember?"

She shook his hand and looked up at him.

Of course he remembers.

Zhang Minglang was touched by her cheerful tone, and his heart finally stopped feeling so heavy.

They continued walking. Tang Yi stared at the tips of her shoes, reminiscing with him about all the little things they had done along the way, the bickering and the times they couldn't stand each other.

Tang Yi seemed to finally have an outlet for her frustration when she talked about making him coffee. She poked his arm with her finger and accused him, word by word, "Why were you so annoying back then? You didn't want the coffee hot, you didn't want it sweet, you didn't want it bitter, it made me dizzy and nauseous..."

The more she talked, the angrier she became. Thinking back to every single word he'd said, she belatedly felt a surge of rage. Tang Yi didn't want to dwell on it anymore, afraid that in this warm and loving atmosphere, she might impulsively slap him.

Tang Yi suddenly shut up. Zhang Minglang could no longer hear her speak. Looking closely, he saw that she only showed him the back of her head, as if she was angry with herself.

Zhang Minglang laughed, then suddenly stopped and used a clever trick to pull her back.

Caught off guard, Tang Yi let out a soft cry as her body spun around due to inertia, her back slamming solidly into his arms.

As she instinctively tried to struggle, Zhang Minglang's arm was already in front of her lower abdomen, encircling her waist and holding her firmly against his chest.

He gently rested his chin on her shoulder and hugged her from behind in an intimate, embracing way.

Tang Yi could brush her lips against his cheek with just a turn of her head.

Zhang Minglang sighed softly in her ear: "On behalf of Zhang Minglang back then, I want to apologize to you."

Tang Yi'er felt a tingling, warm sensation as he exhaled warm breath.

Her voice was dry and strained: "Then, what concrete actions will you take to make amends?"

Zhang Minglang chuckled softly, and Tang Yi felt a slight vibration from his chest on her back, a little numb.

"Then what should we do? I'll punish him... by making Zhang Minglang stay with Tang Yi forever, okay?"

Tang Yi clicked her tongue and turned around to protest: "What do you mean? Is being with me a punishment for you?"

Looking at Tang Yi's vivid expressions, Zhang Minglang felt a warm feeling welling up inside him, like the sweet cream in a cream puff.

He shook his head and pulled her into his arms without saying a word: "How can it not be? I'll punish you and I'll punish myself. Neither of us can escape."

As if remembering something, he added in a casual tone, "It can only be the two of us; nobody else can have a say."

Tang Yi knew who he was talking about.

Finally, she had a chance to properly talk about this. She lifted her head from his embrace: "You ended up..."

Zhang Minglang seemed to have expected this. He interrupted her, his tone flat: "Police station."

He didn't even want to say another word, much less let Tang Yi recall the annoying experience.

Tang Yi sighed: "Can you handle this? I don't want the company to be affected by this."

Zhang Minglang nodded emphatically, indicating that he would handle everything.

After saying that, he looked smug and raised his chin at her: "Your boyfriend is a group president, after all. He can handle this little thing."

Tang Yi saw his inner chuunibyou resurface and chuckled softly.

The two walked slowly down to Tang Yi's building, bathed in the long, cold moonlight.

Along the way, Zhang Minglang repeatedly asked her if she needed any help and checked her feet to make sure there was nothing wrong before reluctantly taking Tang Yi's small handbag from his arm and handing it to her.

"Slow down as you go upstairs, do you hear me?"

Tang Yixiao: "Then make the elevator run a little slower."

Zhang Minglang was still worried: "Are you really not in pain? You really don't need me to help you up?"

Tang Yi shook her head and refused: "We've already walked all the way here, it's really no problem."

Zhang Minglang had no choice but to let go and watch her figure disappear at the entrance of the building.

Tang Yi returned home and casually placed her handbag on the entryway, finally able to unwind from her exhaustion.

She took off her shoes, sat on the edge of the sofa, and reached out to rub her ankles.

How could it not hurt after twisting my ankle so many times in a moment of panic?

She sighed, struggled to sit up, and rummaged through the drawer in front of the TV cabinet for the spray.

Why are there so many things in the drawer? The clinking of medicine bottles, the crisp crackling of pills, the annoying rustling of plastic bags... everything is exceptionally clear in the quiet, empty house.

She became increasingly anxious as she flipped through the pages, feeling as if her wrists and ankles were coated with chili peppers, burning and scalding hot.

No, there's no spray. She clearly put it here, how could it be missing?

Just finding some medicine took all of Tang Yi's remaining strength.

She sat exhausted on the cold floor, feeling the chill through the fabric on her legs. Looking down, she realized she was still wearing Zhang Minglang's coat.

Tang Yi reached out, grabbed the sleeve of her coat, and sniffed it carefully.

It still smells the same, but after so much time and wind, there's hardly anything left; you can barely smell it anymore.

She gripped the fabric of the clothes tighter and tighter in her hands, then slowly loosened it at a certain point.

Tang Yi felt like crying, but she held it in.

It's just a bottle of medicine, just a coat.

She reached for her phone, her fingers trembling as she placed an order for sprain spray via express delivery.

She once again managed to control her emotions very well.

Tang Yi dragged her slightly aching feet to the sink to remove her makeup and wash her face.

She had just wiped the last drop of water from her face when the doorbell suddenly rang.

So fast? she thought to herself.

Tang Yi walked to the door and pressed the handle.

The person outside the door was panting heavily from their journey, but they remembered to hand her the plastic bag containing medicine that was hooked on their finger, and leaned forward.

"Your location is really bad; I had to go quite a distance to find this pharmacy. They have sprays, plasters, and safflower oil; I didn't know which one would work, so I bought them all..."

Before he could finish speaking, the door, which was only slightly ajar, was suddenly pushed open, and a slender, cool body bumped into his arms.

Zhang Minglang was taken aback by her sudden attack and took two steps back, but still managed to catch her steadily with his strong arms.

Tang Yi buried her head in the crook of his neck, her voice trembling slightly: "Why are you here?"

Zhang Minglang felt the tiny water droplets clinging to her hair fall onto her skin, flowing down her collar and into her body. His hand hovered in the air behind her for a moment, then immediately and gently touched her back, stroking her softly from top to bottom.

"I know you're in pain, that's why I came."

Tang Yi didn't say anything more, but just hugged him tighter.

Zhang Minglang had never seen anything like this before. He tilted his head back, trying to buy himself a chance to breathe. But he couldn't bear to let her let go.

"Okay, okay, don't be upset, alright? Your boyfriend will apply the medicine for you, okay?"

He was gently coaxing her when he suddenly heard a light behind him, accompanied by a clear elevator bell.

"Hello, your medicine...?"

The deliveryman, wearing a bulky delivery uniform and a helmet, was rushing towards the elevator with medicine in his hand. His words were cut off when he saw the man and woman embracing each other at the door.

Zhang Minglang turned his head with difficulty to look at him, but his neck suddenly relaxed.

Tang Yi had already straightened up. She lowered her head and reached out to smooth the stray hairs that had fallen beside her ears. Because she had just washed her face, they were still a little damp and stuck to her cheeks in a messy way.

She straightened the hem of her disheveled clothes, stepped forward, took the medicine from the deliveryman, and thanked him softly.

The deliveryman passed the hot potato away and quickly made his escape, forgetting even to say "give me a good review".

Zhang Minglang stood there, silently watching Tang Yi's embarrassed back, and thought to himself how adorable she was.

Even a cold face is cute, incredibly cute.

Tang Yi was like a robot whose movements were sealed; she took the medicine, turned around, and all her actions were extremely stiff.

Zhang Minglang flicked the medicine hanging from his finger in front of her eyes, his tone teasing: "Do you still want mine?"

Tang Yi slowly raised her head to look at him, then reached out and grabbed his medicine before walking inside.

Zhang Minglang watched her go inside, then called out to her from the doorway, "You're just going to dump your boyfriend like that?"

However, Tang Yi had already disappeared from the living room.

Zhang Minglang shrugged and deliberately shouted towards the living room, "I'm leaving first!"

However, he tiptoed forward and stepped into the doorway, walked to the entrance, and closed the door behind him with a "bang".

The clattering of slippers, accompanied by the rustling of plastic bags and clothes, grew louder as Tang Yi's menacing figure reappeared before them.

Zhang Minglang looked pleasantly surprised and waved at her, saying, "Hi."

Tang Yi instantly felt like she'd been played. She pointed at him for a long time, but in the end, she didn't say anything. Instead, she angrily raised her hand and threw the plastic bag he had handed her at him.

Zhang Minglang reached out and caught it effortlessly. Just as he was about to show off, he realized that she had already disappeared again.

So he quickly took off his shoes, stepping on the heels, and strode happily into the living room.
