Chapter 2: The Battle of the Tower

Chapter 2: The Battle of the Tower

Tan Anping and Jia Peng saw Yin Qiaolan holding the substitute stone and looking for Rong Yi. They had also bought one, but seeing that the other side was not moving, they were a little unsure.

Tan Anping was the first to get restless. They were going head-to-head with limited time. "We've bought the goods, let's try it out first, we need to catch up with them."

Jia Peng licked his lips. He didn't know how many times it would take to knock the tower down, so it was better to figure that out first. "Okay, let's go."

Each of them held a substitute stone. Tan Anping dared not move, while Jia Peng cursed him inwardly as a coward. He walked to the edge of the arc and threw the substitute stone in.

A beam of light immediately appeared at the top of the stone tower, striking the substitute stone. Jia Peng gritted his teeth and ran inside, raising his hand to stab a transparent spot in the middle of the tower. The dagger pierced through easily, and a notification appeared in front of him: [1/10]

Originally, it was supposed to be stabbed 10 times, but Tan Anping outside shouted, "The substitute stone has already been hit twice, so give it two more stabs."

Jia Peng's heart pounded like a drum. He wanted to quickly strike a second time, but he found that the knife needed strength to pull out, which took two seconds. After stabbing a second time, he ran out of the stone tower's range without looking back.

When he came out, the substitute stone blocked the attack twice, but was completely shattered on the fifth attempt.

Tan Anping muttered, "Brother Peng, you came out too early. You ran away after the substitute stone blocked the third hit. How many hits are you going to get?"

Jia Peng was breathing heavily, his eyes bloodshot. Inside the tower, he was subconsciously terrified, and his body kept telling him to get out quickly.

His bloodshot eyes suddenly turned to Tan Anping, successfully silencing his nagging. After a few seconds, Jia Peng said in a hoarse voice, "Ten attacks will bring him down."

Tan Anping hesitated for a moment, but still shamelessly handed the substitute stone to him, "Why don't you... try it again?"

Jia Peng was truly annoyed this time. "What, you're just going to watch?"

“You can’t say that.” Tan Anping ignored his dark face. “I also bought substitute stones with gold coins. We’re a team. I’ll find the gold coins, and Peng, you go push the tower. Clear division of labor saves time.”

Jia Peng wanted to curse, but Tan Anping was right. They were a team, time was limited, and they couldn't afford to waste time on each other.

·

Rong Yi searched the entire lawn carefully but only managed to buy two substitute stones. Yin Qiaolan had the same problem.

Upon discovering that the gold coins were limited, Yin Qiaolan's face turned pale. "There are only so many substitute stones... shall we go first or shall I?"

Rong Yi entrusted one of the substitute stones to her for safekeeping, saying, "I'll go try it out first."

The instant the substitute stone was thrown in, Rong Yi's figure almost moved in sync, quickly arriving in front of the tower. She saw that it required ten stabs, but she managed to stab it four times before it came out.

As Yin Qiaolan watched the fifth attack shatter the substitute stone, the beam shot towards Rong Yi's back in the next instant. Fortunately, he ran out of the tower's range, and the beam disappeared.

Rong Yi, panting slightly, looked at the other team searching for gold coins; things were not looking good.

Yin Qiaolan quickly said, "You were terrified! That tower almost hit you. How many hits did it take to knock it down?"

Rong Yi grabbed Yin Qiaolan's arm and leaned in to whisper, "Ten times, but the system said we can't be attacked by the tower. Four substitute stones aren't enough."

Yin Qiaolan realized that if the speed was fast, the first attack from the tower would consume at least one defense, and the rest would only be enough to take down one tower.

In a flash, something occurred to her. She looked up and saw Rong Yi's calm and knowing gaze. She opened her mouth a few times before stammering, "Then we..."

"They'll soon find they don't have enough substitute stones, so I don't need to remind you of that, right?"

Yin Qiaolan swallowed hard and nodded. Next, another team would definitely want to snatch them away.

Rong Yi raised his dagger. "A fierce battle is inevitable, but I have a plan..."

After hearing the plan, Yin Qiaolan nodded repeatedly, "We'll do it your way." Then she turned to see what the other team was doing, and her heart skipped a beat. The other team was staring at them with a gloomy expression.

·

An eerie silence fell between the two sides. Rong Yi took away two substitute stones, while the two opposite him stared intently at the remaining one.

Rong Yi held the substitute stone, and the stone entered the arc first. He ran to the tower in two steps and stabbed it with force. Yin Qiaolan ran away the moment she entered.

Tan Anping instinctively chased after him, while Jia Peng looked at Rong Yi.

With a burst of strength, he pulled out the dagger and stabbed it again and again. After using up the first five blocks, Rong Yi didn't even glance at it. The system had said that the stone tower would prioritize attacking the substitute stone.

On the tenth thrust, the stone tower collapsed instantly.

[The blue team took down the first tower, keep up the good work!]

The second substitute stone blocked two attacks, leaving three attacks. To destroy both towers, you need five substitute stones.

Jia Peng, clutching all the substitute stones, saw that Rong Yi could use two substitute stones in a row, so he also ran into the tower. This time, he wasn't as panicked as before and successfully pushed down the tower.

[The red team destroyed a tower, let's keep going!]

Outside the tower, Yin Qiaolan was still running, circling half the field. Although Tan Anping was a man, his physique was what it was, and he soon became breathless and couldn't keep up after running for a short while.

"What's the use of running? I suggest you obediently hand over the substitute stone, and I might let you die a quicker death."

Yin Qiaolan stood at a distance, watching Rong Yi stride quickly toward Tan Anping.

Tan Anping didn't hear the commotion. When he heard the system notification that their team had also pushed down the tower, he instinctively wanted to call for reinforcements.

But as soon as he turned around, a sharp pain shot through him, and warm liquid trickled down his neck. Tan Anping's face contorted in terror, and his obese body collapsed with a thud. As he struggled, clutching his neck, he heard the system's voice: [Resurrection countdown: 5, 4, 3...]

Seeing the blood gushing out quickly flowing back and the wound closing up, Rong Yi said to Yin Qiaolan, "Come here!"

After Jia Peng finished the first tower, he saw Rong Yi kill his companion. He was shocked and a violent rage rose in his heart. There was no fair competition in this dungeon, only life and death.

Two girls ran towards him. Jia Peng's face was gloomy. Suddenly, his pupils contracted as he saw Tan Anping, who should have been dead, sitting up while clutching his neck.

He instantly understood that as long as he wasn't attacked by the stone tower, he didn't have to worry about dying completely.

"Hahahaha, Tan Anping, let's kill them together first!" Jia Peng laughed wildly, and seeing the two girls' terrified expressions, he felt that they were sure to win.

Tan Anping stormed over, still feeling the real pain and fear he had experienced.

Seeing the person who should have died come back to life, Yin Qiaolan nearly collapsed and said, "What should we do? This isn't working! Why can they come back to life!"

Rong Yi remained silent, coldly glancing back and forth between the two men.

Tan Anping sneered, "You killed me once, now it's time to pay for it."

The two girls were caught before they could run far. Jia Peng twisted Yin Qiaolan's arm behind her back, took the dagger, and made her kneel down in a daze. Rong Yi struggled desperately in Tan Anping's hands.

"Alright! The most important thing is to leave the instance alive. Once we get the substitute stone, we'll only have one tower left." Jia Peng was impatient.

Tan Anping used all his strength to snatch the dagger and wrap his arms around the person. In the struggle, Rong Yi dropped the substitute stone in his hand, and Jia Peng quickly picked it up. "Keep an eye on this woman," he said, pointing at Yin Qiaolan.

Having obtained all the substitute stones, Jia Peng quickly ran to the tower and threw them all in at once.

Rong Yi stopped struggling, and Yin Qiaolan was no longer as distraught as before. She looked at her teammates and then suddenly pounced on Tan Anping.

Hi everyone~ I was a bit delayed by COVID-19 recently, and I was planning to release these two chapters on the first day of the new year. Thankfully, I'm finally releasing the book.

It's been over a year, and it's been a long time since I've seen everyone. During that year, I often saw familiar IDs asking me about my new book, but I was indeed exhausted during that period. I might come up with an idea this month, but I wouldn't have the desire to write it next month.

I had at least five or six other books in mind before this one, but I ultimately chose this one. The previous one, "The Dimensional Shop," completely blocked my choices. Actually, I submitted this book after finishing my previous one, but the editor said that this type of book had limited reach, so I gave up on it. I didn't expect that after all this time, this one would still be published.

My writing speed has slowed down considerably due to the long hiatus, and I often find myself completely blank when sitting in front of the computer. It's much better now than before, though. Once I start serializing, I don't allow myself to stop. I've never missed a day or taken a break with my previous three books, and I hope this one will continue that pattern.

I hope you will all support my new book in the new year. Thank you!
