Chapter 43 Reappearance of Civilization

Chapter 43 Reappearance of Civilization

Rong Yi pulled the girl's hand away, "No one came to pick me up. I'm sorry to disappoint you."

The girl on the left was quicker to think and continued without changing her expression, "Then let's go together. At least we can look out for each other. There are definitely more monsters outside, and it's dangerous for you to go alone."

Regardless of whether Rong Yi was telling the truth or not, she was determined to follow him. As long as the mayor was alive, he would not abandon his daughter.

The girl whose hand was pulled away by Rong Yi hesitated. The probability of turning into a monster now seemed completely random. Perhaps the father of this mayor's daughter had also turned into a monster. Would following her really be useful?

"If you can keep up." Rong Yi knew that even if he told them not to follow, some people would still not give up, so he might as well let them be.

The girl standing on the left looked at Rong Yi, who was full of energy. Despite the early morning temperature of over 30 degrees Celsius, he was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and trousers. The material of the clothes was indistinguishable, resembling leather but not quite, with a soft cotton feel. He was also wearing small leather boots.

The skin feels so clean and fresh that you can't see any pores up close. How come I'm not hot at all wearing this?

Her thick, light brown hair was tied up high, the ends of which swept across her snow-white neck as Rong Yi moved his head, and she was also holding a dagger.

The two girls didn't have time to think about why Rong Yi had a sharpened dagger, so they could only follow behind her. They couldn't be happier that she had a weapon and was walking ahead of them.

A group of people surged out of the stairwell on the second floor. Those in front panicked and ran haphazardly, while those behind used chairs to block the oncoming zombies.

There were four zombies, but they were having a very hard time dealing with them.

Rong Yi "helpfully" stepped forward, and the zombie facing her had its eye socket pierced. She twisted it clockwise, pulled out the dagger, and it collapsed limply.

Two zombies sensed that Rong Yi was getting closer and roared as they approached. Rong Yi remained calm, kicked one of them away, and turned around just as the zombie reached out to grab her. Before she stopped, she used the momentum of the turn to stab it in the temple.

The other one got up, and when it opened its mouth, you could see the remaining flesh and blood between its teeth. Rong Yi was too lazy to get close, so he threw the dagger straight into its brow.

After the upgrade, the blade of the Canglan Dagger is nearly 30 centimeters long, which is considered large in the hands of an ordinary person, so it can easily pierce through the brain of a zombie.

The entire process of dealing with two zombies took less than twenty seconds. Between the stairs, three girls used chairs to hold off the zombies. For every step a zombie took forward, they steadily retreated one step.

Seeing Rong Yi easily deal with the zombie, they used all their strength to push aside the powerful zombie and turn to run away. The girls who had run ahead earlier had long since disappeared.

Unfortunately, the zombie was brainless and only had eyes for them. It couldn't go down the stairs and fell hard, landing headfirst on the corner of the stairs. But the stubborn zombie was unaffected and crawled down the stairs to chase after them.

The two girls following Rong Yi were dumbfounded. They had never known that the mayor's daughter had such good skills. They would have believed it if they were told she was a special forces soldier.

The lobby on the first floor was even more horrific than I had imagined. Some people were lying dead against the wall, being eaten, their blood splattering everywhere, staining the white walls and the tiled floor red. Some people hadn't even breathed their last when they watched helplessly as zombies tore at their bellies.

Upon seeing this, the two girls couldn't help but vomit, instantly attracting the attention of more than a dozen zombies. They turned pale with fright and immediately suppressed their nausea.

Rong Yi strolled leisurely, and the zombies, smelling fresher food, immediately abandoned the dead and pounced forward with a kick of their hind legs.

The zombies attacked in different directions. Rong Yi found the jaw of the zombie at the front, tensed his right leg muscles, pulled back slightly to gather strength, and then kicked forward fiercely. The bones, which had been modified by the virus to be harder, could not withstand the kick. The cracking sound echoed in the hall, making everyone's teeth ache.

These zombies, which have only recently been infected, move with the same agility as ordinary people. Their bones are significantly harder than when they were alive, and their strength is about twice as great. Therefore, they are very difficult for ordinary people to deal with, especially girls who are physically weaker.

After dealing with several zombies, Rong Yi discovered the boys' dormitory across the street, where boys were swinging baseball bats, aiming to smash their heads with each blow.

The two girls behind them saw a group of people coming out of the opposite dormitory and got excited: "There are people over there, why don't we go together?"

The reason he could blurt out those words was because the way the boy killed zombies was extremely easy; no matter how terrifying the zombie was, its head would be smashed and it would fall over.

Compared to Rong Yi's use of a more destructive dagger, she subconsciously felt that the person opposite her seemed to be more powerful.

The other hesitated slightly, tugged at her companion's hand, and glanced at Rong Yi, signaling her not to say anything inappropriate.

Rong Yi took down the last zombie in the hall. "You two had better stay with them. I can't take care of anyone else. If there had been more zombies coming out, you wouldn't be standing here."

If a fight breaks out, she can only protect herself at best; she won't have the energy to protect others.

“If you think it’s safe to follow me, then I can only say that’s a complete illusion. If you encounter danger, I won’t be able to spare any hands. If there are too many zombies and I can’t handle them, I can run away on my own, but I can’t take care of you,” Rong Yi added.

His words completely extinguished the two girls' remaining hopes, and it seemed that Rong Yi had no intention of helping them.

Several boys across the street also spotted the three of them. The kind-hearted college students jogged over and, seeing the corpses lying all over the ground, thought to themselves, "These girls are pretty tough."

"Are you alright? You can come with us."

Even though it's the weekend, there are still quite a few people on campus. If we stay put, we'll eventually be surrounded by more and more zombies. It's better to run away as soon as possible.

The girl, who had hesitated earlier, immediately replied, "I'll go with you guys." She didn't even think to ask where the boys were going.

Meanwhile, the girl who wanted to tag along with Rong Yi and get some help from the mayor was still staring at her, wanting to see what Rong Yi would say next.

"If you really can't get out of Baiquan City, go to the outskirts of Jin'an District. The military will probably set up a security base there. Of course, this is a probability event, and I don't know if there will actually be a base."

Rong Yi pointed out a location to them, and they could go there if they wanted.

Everyone knew her identity and knew more than they did. Upon hearing the word "base," one of the boys excitedly asked, "Base! Which location in the suburbs? Do you have a more specific address?"

Rong Yi shook his head, "I don't know, things are so chaotic right now, the location hasn't been decided yet."

As soon as the words were spoken, a girl's scream came from the stairs. As it got closer, several girls filed out and saw a group of people standing in the lobby, as if they had seen their saviors.

“Help!”

They all scrambled to hide behind the crowd, and the boy wielding the baseball bat took the lead, sweeping it across the front of the zombie, leaving its temple deeply sunken and almost half of its head smashed.

Two zombies chased after them, but the boy easily dealt with them both.

After finishing, he didn't even pant. He turned around and introduced himself, "I'm Yuan Tianlei from the Economics Department. I originally planned to seek asylum in the military region, but this classmate said that Jin'an District might establish a base." Yuan Tianlei pointed to Rong Yi with his palm up. Almost everyone in the school knew her. "We'll go there next. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome, but we'll have to do some work along the way. We'll be working together."
