Chapter 46 Reappearance of Civilization
All the zombies that appeared were dealt with, and Rong Yi did not plan to search each floor and room in detail; he would deal with them when he encountered them.
Wei Yanqing closed his eyes and sensed the surroundings. "The zombies are all here. The rest are living people, all hiding on the fifth floor."
With this almost superhuman X-ray vision, Rong Yi felt even more at ease. "You mentioned hunting before, which meant letting the zombies get close and then..." He mimicked Wei Yanqing's waving gesture, "...harvesting them like that?"
Wei Yanqing lowered his eyes and thought for two seconds before nodding. "Yes, but I won't use my talent that frequently." He took out a gun. "I'll mainly rely on this."
Rong Yi expressed his understanding, after all, no one's talent is omnipotent.
Wei Yanqing collected all the crystal cores on Rong Yi's side. Rong Yi was worried that if he touched them, the gray text would automatically swallow them, so he put them in a small bag. The dozen or so crystal cores jingled and clattered together.
Wei Yanqing had already made plans. He took Rong Yi to the second floor and pointed to the outer wall, saying, "I originally wanted to use this height for point-and-shoot shots. There are plenty of zombies below, so we can hit them no matter how we shoot."
No need to aim specifically, it's a great place to harvest.
Rong Yi looked at Wei Yanqing and slowly gave him a thumbs up. "I came here to collect resources so I can exchange them for crystal cores later."
There were no more than a hundred zombies on the road, so they were easy to deal with. Therefore, Rong Yi did not think about finding a special place to harvest them. The key was that he might not be able to get all the crystal cores after defeating them, so it was better to kill them and collect them at the same time.
But with Wei Yanqing's help, things were different. No matter how many zombies they dealt with, they couldn't miss a single crystal core.
With a plan in place, the next step is to clarify the profit sharing.
Rong Yi didn't think much of it and spread his five fingers. "How about a 50/50 split? My marksmanship is pretty good. I wouldn't call myself a sharpshooter, but in this situation, one shot and one kill shouldn't be a problem."
To everyone's surprise, Wei Yanqing shook his head, "Sixty-four, you six, my marksmanship... isn't very good."
The other party offered to make a concession, and after some consideration, Rong Yi decided not to refuse. She would just have to see how things went this time. If Wei Yanqing lost money, she could just split the profits 50/50 next time.
The two broke the glass, tied ropes around their waists to the railing, and placed clothes on the windowsill.
Looking around, there was a dense mass of zombies, all of them with their heads tilted back, as if they wanted to bite people through the air.
Rong Yi skillfully loaded the magazine, aimed the gun, and fired immediately, truly achieving one shot, one kill; every time a gunshot rang out, a zombie would fall.
She not only had to aim for the zombie's head, but also had to avoid the back of its head.
With the magazine emptied, Rong Yi finally had time to check on Wei Yanqing's situation, and then fell silent...
The man wasn't lying; his marksmanship was indeed poor, but it wasn't just poor, it was absolutely terrible!
In contrast to her precise single shots, Wei Yanqing was firing indiscriminately, and after wiping them out, at most two or three zombies would fall, many of them only hit by bullets and not affecting their movement.
Not yet satisfied after finishing, they immediately reloaded and continued firing.
Rong Yi: "..." Why does it feel like she's at a disadvantage even though she's only six?
·
Originally, there were over a thousand zombies in the mall, but they, or rather, Rong Yi, slaughtered most of them.
Stop when there are only two hundred or so left. Not only can living people attract zombies, but the roars of zombies can also do so. If they kill them all, they will have to spend time searching for more.
Wei Yanqing's marksmanship was terrible, but his talent was undeniable. With a wave of his hands, hundreds of crystal cores surged forth like a tide, falling into their respective bags in two streams.
Rong Yi had been keeping an eye on the zombies downstairs. When the crystal cores converged, the zombie horde became chaotic, pushing and shoving each other as they ran in the direction of the crystal cores. It seemed that the crystal cores were not only useful to them, but also to the zombies.
She tossed the bag in her hand; it was quite heavy.
"There are a total of 822 crystal cores, and I have already collected 328." Wei Yanqing shook the bag in his hand.
Rong Yi walked to the window. "Do you have any fresh meat? I've prepared cooked food."
She wanted to hang some pieces of meat there to attract more zombies.
“Yes.” Wei Yanqing understood her intention. A deer-like creature appeared in his hand, about the size of a medium-sized dog. He tied a rope around its hind legs and then cut its neck to bleed it out. It seemed that he would put it into his storage space immediately after killing it.
Sure enough, there was fresh blood. The zombies below became even more excited, and their roars grew louder. It was only a little past ten in the morning, and under the bright sunlight, more zombies walked stiffly towards them from afar.
Both of them were a little hungry and decided to find a place to sit down and have a proper meal.
Unfortunately, a few uninvited guests arrived, who were the very people Wei Yanqing had mentioned hiding on the fifth floor.
Before the mall opens, staff will come in to check everything. Only when everything is in order will the various entrances be opened on time. Apart from those who have turned into zombies, only four are still alive. They were originally hiding on the fifth floor, but after hearing the gunshots, they hesitated for a long time before coming down.
They were mainly afraid of being killed at the door. They knew there were zombies inside the mall, and they would only come out after the gunfire stopped, afraid that people would leave.
When I went down to the second floor, I saw a man and a woman, who looked so relaxed that it seemed like they were perfectly normal and could go shopping in the mall today.
The middle-aged man in the lead looked around before poking his head out. "Gentlemen, have the troops outside left?" In their minds, anyone with a gun must be an official.
Behind the middle-aged man were two women and a boy who looked to be under twenty. When the team leader asked a question, they cautiously looked at Rong Yi.
“The zombies are mostly gathered on this side,” Rong Yi said, pointing to the side they had just cleared. “You can exit from the other side. As for the troops, we don’t know anything about them.”
She couldn't be bothered to explain the gunshots; it was better to avoid trouble.
Wei Yanqing stood silently to the side, his attention not on their conversation, but on looking around at the layout of the mall.
The middle-aged man nodded with a smile, "Did you see which direction the troops were heading?"
"have no idea."
Wei Yanqing spoke very seriously, his icy blue eyes fixed on the middle-aged man.
Rong Yi glanced at Wei Yanqing, quite surprised, though Wei Yanqing looked very aloof.
She walked away first, followed by Wei Yanqing. The middle-aged man looked somewhat regretful and blocked the employee behind him who wanted to say something more, saying, "Forget it, these two don't look like they're easy to mess with. It's most important to get out of here first. Go upstairs and collect some things."
The three employees were indignant, feeling that Wei Yanqing's "I don't know" was just a way of fobbing them off, but for some reason, they couldn't utter a single word when they looked at the two men.
Rong Yi went around in circles and finally chose a shop not far from their harvesting site, where Wei Yanqing was present and there was no risk of forcibly opening the door.
Click, the restaurant lights came on.
“Not bad, there’s electricity.” Rong Yi looked at the lights, ignoring the roars of the zombies, as if he were still in a peaceful and stable civilized society.
Wei Yanqing sat down in the seat closest to the door, and several boxes appeared on the table; it was his lunch.
Rong Yi's approach was much simpler. She sat down, lifted the lid, and started eating. However, for her, one box of non-ranked food wasn't enough to keep her full, so she needed to order another box and a half.
Wei Yanqing resembled an elegant nobleman, his movements slow and deliberate, a sight to behold.
After Rong Yi finished eating, Wei Yanqing also put away the food box. "You mentioned binding us before. After our cooperation once, I think we can officially bind us."
Rong Yi also remembered this matter. He was busy harvesting zombies at the time and postponed the binding.
