Chapter 77 Reappearance of Civilization

Chapter 77 Reappearance of Civilization

The Changjia Research Institute is located in the suburbs of the Fifth South District. The building is extremely grand and surrounded by a circle of zombies.

The research institute was well-defended; zombies tried to break through the iron gates but couldn't budge them.

“Level 4 zombie, consciously ramming the door.” Wei Yanqing stared at the zombie ramming the door. Compared to the others that were pressed against the wall, its behavior was too conspicuous. Its mental energy was also very active, completely different from the other stagnant zombies, indicating that it had intelligence.

squeak--

Several cars parked one after another in front of the research institute.

The zombies surrounding the wall turned around, their yellowish-red teeth almost protruding from their lips as they howled.

Rong Yi and Wei Yanqing did not make a move, but the other players raised their guns and fired a barrage of bullets, easily dealing with the zombies on the perimeter.

The level-four zombie that was ramming the door roared and pounced when it saw a fresh, living person with nothing to block its way.

This zombie is about 1.7 meters tall, but its muscles are quite impressive, and it is almost 1.5 meters wide. It is likely a strength-type zombie.

The powerful zombie, like a gorilla, slammed its fists backward, sending dust flying from the wall.

One of the players, whose body was enhanced, stepped forward. His whole body was bulging, and although his clothes were not torn, you could see the veins bulging on his arms.

A human and a zombie collided, the thud of their fists hitting each other reaching the ears of everyone present.

The brutal, hand-to-hand combat was impressive to watch, but Wei Yanqing felt that the fight lacked aesthetic appeal, unlike Rong Yi's fluid and graceful movements.

Ten minutes later, the zombie was knocked down, and the player continued to punch it in the back of the head and neck.

Having dealt with the zombie, he formed his five fingers into claws and tore open the back of the zombie's head, pulling out the crystal core.

Because this player killed the zombie, his team was the first to arrive at the door and figure out how to open it.

"Why don't we blast it open, or blow up the wall?" someone in the team suggested.

"Do we have enough explosives?"

Rong Yi didn't react much; she was going in anyway, so it didn't matter who caused the explosion.

"Wait a minute," Wei Yanqing called out from the side.

Rong Yi looked at him, and Wei Yanqing gestured to her, then said to the line at the door, "The walls and doors here are over 600 millimeters thick. If explosives can break through them, this building may collapse."

He was the only player here with a talent for mental power, so no one noticed it.

"Do you have any ideas?" the player who killed the level 4 zombie asked.

Wei Yanqing patted Rong Yi on the shoulder, signaling him to follow, and the two walked ahead.

"I can control the iron gate to open automatically, and once inside, it's up to each person to rely on their own abilities."

"good!"

The players all agreed with Wei Yanqing's suggestion, since he didn't make any other requests.

Click! The iron gate sprang open.

The player closest to the door opened it and found that it was quite heavy. It was possible to blow open the wall with explosives, but forget about the door.

Surprisingly, there was still electricity inside the research institute. The light shone on the white porcelain floor, making people squint.

After everyone came in, Wei Yanqing closed the iron gate, and everyone looked at him.

Rong Yi said fearlessly, "What, you still want to leave the door open and let the zombies in?"

Upon hearing this, they looked away again.

There was only one person to be rescued, and no one mentioned cooperation.

The group silently ventured deeper into the research institute when one player called out, "Is anyone there? We've come specifically to rescue them."

The sound echoed in the empty room.

Rong Yi tugged at Wei Yanqing's hand and turned his head away, indicating that he wanted to separate from the people here.

Wei Yanqing nodded, and the two left the group.

The players looked at each other. The research institute was sparsely furnished, with not even a sign or a map.

Everyone tacitly agreed to split up and act separately; whoever finds Gu Letong later depends entirely on luck.

·

Other players can only run around blindly, but Wei Yanqing is different; he can use his mental power to search.

"Over there." Before leaving the main group, he had been searching for any living creatures inside the building, and immediately pointed in a direction after he came out.

Rong Yi walked beside her, led by Wei Yanqing, while she remained vigilant.

The research institute was like a maze; everything looked the same, and there were no signs on the doors of any of the rooms, so you had no idea what was behind each door.

After turning in several directions, a two-meter-wide corridor suddenly appeared before me, at the end of which was a large blue door.

"It looks so strange."

Rong Yi began to suspect that the research institute was conducting experiments that couldn't be brought to the light of day.

Just like the Extreme Summit dungeon.

Wei Yanqing: "I didn't sense any strange creatures, but there were more than twenty people over there."

No wonder I didn't see a single staff member at the research institute; they were all hiding here.

The two walked quickly toward the blue door, which opened automatically as soon as they reached it.

Behind the door were several transparent rooms, which reminded Rong Yi of the rooms on the upper floors of the Jingtian Tower. The difference was that in one of the transparent rooms, more than twenty people were standing together chatting. When they heard the noise from the door, they all turned around and looked surprised.

The room was soundproof, and they pointed at Rong Yi and Wei Yanqing talking about something, their expressions full of confusion.

Wei Yanqing was about to close the door when someone behind him shouted, "Don't close it!"

He was one of the players who came in together, and there were several other people following behind him.

Rong Yi's eyes darted around. So fast, they must have been secretly following them. But Wei Yanqing couldn't possibly have been unaware.

Wei Yanqing whispered to her, "Props."

The items sold by the system were all kinds of strange and numerous, and it was impossible for Rong Yi to remember them all. He was not very familiar with them.

Since everyone's here, it's impossible to close the door right in front of them; they still need to take their mission objective out.

As for the fact that more than one team was using props, from the moment Wei Yanqing sensed the thickness of the wall and iron gate, those players guessed that he was a mental type, making it much easier for him to find people than for them.

The team that followed saw the researchers behind the building and smiled with relief, "What a coincidence."

Rong Yi scoffed inwardly, "What a coincidence!"

Wei Yanqing ignored these concerns and, in front of the researchers, conjured up paper and a pen out of thin air, wrote something on the paper, and showed it to them.

We are professional rescuers.

The researchers inside the transparent room discussed the matter for a while before finally swiping their cards to open the door.

"Who sent you?" asked the man at the front.

"Of course they were sent by the system," Rong Yi thought to himself.

"You're all from the Jin'an District base in this city?" Wei Yanqing's tone made it sound as if the base had truly sent them.

The male researcher looked them over with a hint of suspicion. Rong Yi and Wei Yanqing seemed alright, as they were practically empty-handed except for the piece of paper. But the others who came later were different; each of them was carrying a gun.

"We're all here, so you dealt with the zombies outside?"

"Of course," a later player quickly answered, "How can we get in if we don't finish this?"

After saying this, the researchers looked at each other, and someone asked him, "How did you open the door? Only our internal staff know the password. If there had been an explosion, the people inside the building would have felt it."

To open this door, you either need enough explosives or know the code.

The player who answered the question couldn't give a proper answer, saying, "Um...we have a professional door opener in our team."

That makes sense; Wei Yanqing is indeed an expert in this area.
