Chapter 83 Reappearance of Civilization
Yesterday, Rong Yi specifically asked Wu Junzhi about Pujian Company. It turns out that this company has more than one factory in Baiquan City and two large storage warehouses. No wonder the mission did not indicate which district it was located in.
As everyone knows, there's one in Shanghe District. There's no need to go there; the Shanghe District base was likely emptied out before the mission was even launched.
The other one is quite far away, in Lianfang District, at the westernmost part of Baiquan City. The warehouse there mainly transports goods to the western region.
Pharmaceutical manufacturing and storage are not in the same place. Usually, the pharmaceutical factory completes the production and packaging of the goods and then sends them to the warehouse, which is located at the hub of the operation.
Baiquan City is developing well, and many companies have set up factories there, so the city has a relatively abundant supply of various goods.
Just as Rong Yi and Wei Yanqing got into the car, the system notified them.
[Some players have already completed side quest two]
"Looks like we can just go directly to Jijiang City." Wei Yanqing tapped the steering wheel with his index finger.
Rong Yi crossed his arms, relaxed his body, and shrank his neck. "Go ahead, go ahead. Anyway, we can't complete mission three in a short time."
Shiraizumi City suffered extensive damage. In less than a month, plants in the city's green belts grew wildly and showed a tendency to spread outwards, with weeds growing rampant beyond the concrete areas.
It's over 120 kilometers away. In the past, it would have taken less than two hours to drive there, but now it could take several days.
They drove slowly along the way, and when they encountered zombies, Rong Yi would not get out of the car, but would climb out of the window and onto the roof, sometimes sitting there for half a day.
She harvested the crops, and Wei Yanqing collected the crystal cores; their cooperation was perfect.
The next day, I found that the dew was much heavier than before, and in the morning the car windows were covered with a dense layer of dew.
The closer you drive to Jijiang City, the more lush the vegetation becomes, with some buildings having vines climbing all over the lower floors.
On the third day, when Rong Yi woke up, everything around him was a white blur. He couldn't distinguish between humans and animals even a meter away, let alone five meters.
She patted Wei Yanqing beside her, "Wake up, it's foggy outside."
When Wei Yanqing opened his eyes, he saw that the outside was shrouded in mist, with wisps of fog clinging to the car window. "We are already in Jijiang City, but we don't know the exact location of the base."
The comments never mention the base's location, so you can't expect to get any useful information from them.
"Something feels off. Let's find a house to go inside."
These past few days they haven't been looking for housing, they've been focusing on killing zombies and traveling, eating only boxed meals for their three meals a day.
Wei Yanqing opened the car door, and the mist rushed into the car, soon Rong Yi could no longer see him.
After they both got out of the car, they could not see each other even though they were only one car's distance apart.
"The fog is too thick. I remember there's a building less than 200 meters behind the car." Wei Yanqing remembers the surrounding environment when he parks.
Rong Yi followed the voice and walked up to him. "Pull me along. I'm afraid something will jump out of the fog and grab you."
Dense fog obscures one's surroundings, often conjuring up terrifying images.
Wei Yanqing gently pinched her sleeve. "Go straight."
He couldn't see Rong Yi with his naked eye, but with his mental power, the surrounding scene was like an invisible map unfolding in his mind, clearly visible.
Upon entering the building, Wei Yanqing restored the walls to their original state, while Rong Yi reached out to fan away the surging mist. "I didn't want to rest much, but fate wouldn't allow it."
"I haven't had breakfast yet, so I'll just make it right away."
Rong Yi nodded, she had missed Wei Yanqing's cooking these past three days.
The two sat facing each other on either side of the large pot. For breakfast, Wei Yanqing had a hearty carb meal: spicy braised beef steak that was fragrant, tender, and juicy. Rong Yi ate three large bowls of rice while slurping.
After Rong Yi and Wei Yanqing finished eating, they started thinking about where the bases in Jijiang City were located. This city was not far from Baiquan City, but with communications cut off, they really couldn't figure out which district had a base.
"Let's go check out the most bustling district first." Rong Yi felt that a bustling area meant abundant resources, and building a base would always require a lot of resources, so it wouldn't be a good thing if it was too far away.
Wei Yanqing nodded. "Sure, even if it's not in a bustling area, it's most likely in the surrounding area."
He was looking at the map, trying to memorize every road on it, while Rong Yi got up to observe the layout of the room.
Coincidentally, they entered an apartment building. The apartment had high ceilings but was not very large, and they could easily figure out the layout after walking a few steps.
I drew back the curtains, and it seemed that a wind had picked up outside. The thick fog rolled like waves, swirling and refusing to dissipate.
Surprisingly, the fog seemed to last for at least half a month, but by the afternoon, it had dissipated quickly.

The fog clearing was a cause for celebration, but once the scene outside was revealed, the joy quickly vanished, leaving only worry.
The plants that were originally only growing on the concrete ground of the city have taken over the entire city in half a day. The roads that people have poured are covered with moss, the tall buildings are covered with vines, the trees planted for greening are over thirty meters long, and the shrubs are taller than Rong Yi.
When Wei Yanqing moved the wall, he also broke many vines. The broken vines hung at the gap, like a natural curtain.
"My God, we've only been here for half a day, but it feels like we've been in this room for seven or eight years," Rong Yi exclaimed.
Wei Yanqing scanned his surroundings and discovered that not only had plants taken over the city, but there were also many insects.
"It's fog."
Before the dramatic change, the only unusual thing was the dense fog.
"Is the fog full of hormones? The plants are growing so frighteningly."
It must be said that with more plants, the air is much fresher. Usually, when I take off my mask, I can smell all sorts of strange odors, but now when I take it off, all I can smell is the fresh scent of wood.
The vines climbing all over the high-rise buildings, some even blooming with colorful buds, make for a beautiful sight, regardless of the area covered.
Wei Yanqing looked around and saw that everything with traces of human activity was covered by lush greenery, making it impossible to even see the road signs.
"We'd better take it easy now, let's get in the car first."
The modified car tires have a grip wall, and even slippery moss can't stop the car from moving forward.
"Aren't there any plants here that have intelligence?"
The characteristic of mutated plants and animals is that they gain some intelligence, although not all of them do; most of them are enhanced in terms of physical strength.
"I haven't noticed it yet. I'll focus on driving from now on. You keep an eye on your surroundings."
He had looked at the plant encyclopedia that was given as a reward. There were many plants that were both plant-based and non-vegetarian, but the carnivorous ones were more aggressive.
Rong Yi leaned against the window, carefully observing the world shrouded in green.
The car ran over the moss, splashing out dark green sap, and the earthy smell of the moss clung to the tires.
About half an hour later, during which no plants attacked the vehicle, Wei Yanqing drove slowly, afraid of slipping on the moss.
Just when Rong Yi thought they would be driving like this forever, he saw a parked car to the side of the vehicle. Two people were carrying an injured person into the car. "Wei Yanqing, there are people over there!"
The car turned and moved closer to that direction.
The men who were stuffing the wounded into the car stopped what they were doing as soon as they saw Wei Yanqing's car.
After parking the car, Rong Yi got out first, his boots leaving footprints on the moss. "Hello."
After being away for several days, I finally saw living people other than my teammates.
