Chapter 7 Survival of the Brave
Damn!
Rong Yi didn't care about clearing mines; he threw off the tree branch, swung his arms, and started running wildly.
The two men were probably hiding behind a tree stump, trying to ambush her, but they were ambushed by the giant snake instead. They cursed the two scumbags in their hearts, saying that they were going to die and drag her down with them.
Rong Yi has long legs and good stamina, so he runs fast and soon leaves the other person far behind.
"Wait for me!" the man cried out as he ran.
Waiting for you? I don't want to die yet!
The giant snake's entire body fell to the ground, and several serpentine snakes chased after their prey.
Not long after the man fled, he heard rustling sounds behind him and, despite his fear, turned around to look.
This sight almost made him weak in the knees and fall, but his survival instinct kept him running. The giant snake was only a hundred meters away from him and would easily catch up with him in about ten seconds.
The man was glad he had been carrying a storage backpack. As he ran, he brought the backpack to his front, reached inside and rummaged around. Once he felt the familiar texture, he took out his belongings and dropped the backpack.
What was taken out was a launcher that could shoot out an anchor hook with a rope and had the function of retrieving the rope.
As the man ran with his last bit of stamina, he found a landmark, pulled the trigger, and the hook-shaped iron weapon shot rapidly toward the tree in the intended direction.
Upon seeing the grappling hook hit its target, the button was immediately pressed, and the rope quickly retracted. The man, unable to keep up with the speed, was pulled directly towards the tree.
The giant snake had already caught up with him and opened its mouth to bite, but found that its prey had flown away.
Out of the corner of Rong Yi's eye, he noticed a large dark shadow sweep past him not far away. At a glance, he realized it was the person who had fallen behind.
Now... she is the one closest to the giant serpent.
Rong Yi drew his dagger, ready to fight if he were caught up at any moment.
Looking back, they saw the giant snake hissing with its mouth open, clearly furious that its prey had escaped. Its green-yellow beastly eyes glanced at Rong Yi, but only for a moment before turning back to the man.
The man on the other end was spared for the moment. The launcher took him to his destination in five or six seconds, and he was thrown heavily against the tree due to inertia.
He had already lost his backpack, and he couldn't afford to lose the thrower as well. So he spent three seconds releasing the grappling hook and continued running with the gadget.
Today he finally understood what it meant to feel like he had a thorn in his side.
Fortunately, this gave him time to unleash his talent. The man focused his attention, and a red dot appeared twenty meters ahead.
Rong Yi also saw the bright red dot, about the size of a ping-pong ball. Then the man's figure flashed and he was no longer by the tree, but appeared at the original red dot.
It seems to be some kind of fixed-point movement; is this talent?
The man used his talent to "flash" three times, then ran wildly and disappeared after a turn.
Rong Yi: "..."
Looking back at the giant snake, it no longer stared at the man's back as it had last time, but instead fixed its gaze on her.
Damn!
·
Rong Yi steadied her breathing. She had no talent, nor did she have a convenient and quick escape device. The situation was a bit bad.
As she pondered how to escape, the hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, and she shuddered. Using the momentum of her run, she leaped to the right, rolled upon landing to dissipate the force, and the giant snake's mouth grazed her waist.
I was almost bitten in the waist.
After escaping death, Rong Yi felt a surge of anger, wishing he could cut the giant snake into pieces.
The giant snake stopped, coiled its long body, raised its upper body, and hissed at Rong Yi—a form of intimidation.
There was no way to run away, and Rong Yi no longer had the intention to retreat.
A fleeting flash of red appeared deep within her pupils. The giant snake closed its mouth and lowered its upright upper body.
Just as Rong Yi decided to fight to the death, a faint sound of air being torn apart was caught by his keen hearing. A flash of white light appeared before his eyes, and the giant snake was suddenly struck down by something. Upon closer inspection, he found that a cold, silvery-white broad axe was deeply embedded in the giant snake's body near its head.
The blow was extremely powerful, with the axe blade cutting into a third of the giant snake's body.
Rong Yi immediately retreated and ran away. The giant snake twisted and rolled due to the pain, and its tail slapped the ground, making a noise that caused the ground to tremble.
Soon, several figures appeared. At this time, Rong Yi had already hidden behind a tree stump in the distance. She wanted to see how these people would deal with the giant snake. If there were any signs that they couldn't win, she would run away immediately.
There were three people who walked near the giant snake: two men and one woman. The two men were wearing the same casual clothes and were turned to the side so their faces were not visible. The woman, on the other hand, was tall, strong, and powerful. She wore a white sports vest that showed off her muscle lines, and black sports pants and sneakers.
One of the men stepped on the giant snake's tail, then conjured a long sword out of thin air and thrust it forcefully, fixing the snake's tail in place.
Another one lunged forward and grabbed the snake's body, slamming its fist into the snake's vital spot, causing the snake to immediately go limp.
Finally, the woman stepped forward, reached out and grasped the handle of the broad axe, stepped on the snake's head and easily pulled the axe out, then forcefully chopped down along the wound, separating the snake's head from its body.
Everything was done cleanly and efficiently. Rong Yi realized that these three people had awakened their talents, unlike the man who had escaped before, who seemed to have undergone the most common form of physical enhancement.
The danger has passed, and she doesn't need to stay here any longer.
Dong Cheng looked in the direction Rong Yi had left. "Aren't you going to rob it?"
Dai Zhou was skinning the giant snake. "I'm not going." He then frowned and said, "Fan Yiyi, next time don't be so violent and just cut it off directly. This snake's skin isn't even intact after you cut it off. How many points did you lose?"
The woman addressed as Fan Yiyi rolled her eyes impatiently, "Either you come next time, or shut up."
Dai Zhou rolled his eyes, ready to start an argument, but Dong Cheng immediately stepped in, "Alright, alright, it's just snakeskin. It's going to be cut open to make soft armor anyway, so it's not a big problem." He then changed the subject, "Why didn't you pursue that woman? She was carrying a bag, so she probably has something good inside that she's reluctant to throw away."
Fan Yiyi flicked the broad axe, wiping away the snake blood. "It's not that she's reluctant to part with good stuff, it's that she doesn't need the backpack at all. Given the situation, she only had a barely first-tier dagger to deal with this beast. She must be so poor that she only has a little food left." She touched the broad axe with the ring on her right index finger, and the one-meter-long axe was stored in her storage ring.
Having fought in low-level dungeons for so long, they no longer lack food supplies. Instead of wasting their energy robbing a poor guy, they should quickly dismantle the giant snake and store it away, then hurry to the coordinates.
The giant snake's body was too large, and the storage ring had limited space, so it couldn't be stored directly. It could only be stored after Dai Zhou skinned it and then cut it into sections.
"Sister Fan has a good eye." Dong Cheng praised with a grin, while Dai Zhou rolled her eyes at him during a break from her work.
“You cut the snake into sections, I’m going to eat something.” After Fan Yiyi finished speaking, a steaming 14-inch large bowl appeared in her hand, containing seafood fried rice.
Dong Cheng swallowed hard, admiring Fan Yiyi in his heart. Even with the bloody smell of Dai Zhou skinning snakes, she could still eat. Sure enough, as her strength increased, she lost her femininity, except for her pretty face.
Dai Zhou tore off the snakeskin and said as he folded it, "You finish it up. Remember the dimensions. The snake gall is the most valuable part, so don't cut the wrong thing."
I'll continue updating 4,000 words daily, just like before. Actually, I secretly planned to write some erotic stories this year, but I resisted, haha. Besides, my editor keeps asking me about my new book, so I figured I should just keep the erotic stories to myself, hehe.
