Chapter 24 Bringing Chengcheng Home

Chapter 24 Bringing Chengcheng Home

Two minutes later.

The villa gate opened.

Zhou Songyan stood tall and straight at the door.

There are steps at the main entrance.

Zhou Songyan stood inside the door, looked down at her for a while, then turned and walked inside without speaking to Li Mai.

Li Mai was used to his unpredictable moods.

Step inside and close the door at the same time.

We entered the living room.

Li Mai asked, "President Zhou, where is Chengcheng?"

Zhou Songyan: "She's asleep."

"It's okay, I'll wake him up. Which room is he in?"

Zhou Songyan glared at her: "Li Mai, what's the meaning of this? Chengcheng is already asleep, what's the rush to take him away? Are you trying to distance yourself from me?"

Li Mai: "I feel really bad for troubling you, Mr. Zhou, for several days. I want to take Chengcheng away as soon as possible."

As for drawing clear lines.

That's something we all understand, isn't it?

"Mr. Zhou, please lead the way for me."

Seeing that she insisted, Zhou Songyan didn't say anything more.

He led her upstairs to a room.

Chengcheng is sleeping soundly.

I was awakened by a gentle voice.

It's Mom.

He opened his sleepy eyes and was pleasantly surprised to see Li Mai, so he rushed into her arms.

"Mom...Auntie, you're back!"

Chengcheng quickly changed his mind.

Because I saw Zhou Songyan standing next to me.

Li Mai smiled and hugged him.

She missed her darling terribly after not seeing him for a few days.

"Chengcheng, how about coming home with your aunt?"

Chengcheng nodded.

He misses his mother too.

Although living at his father's house is fine, he would prefer to live with his mother.

Li Mai packed Chengcheng's things into a box.

Chengcheng had already gotten up and put on his clothes and coat: "Auntie, we can go now."

"Um."

Li Mai checked and found nothing missing.

Turning her head, she saw Zhou Songyan's deep eyes.

"Mr. Zhou, thank you for your help these past few days. Goodbye!"

Li Mai led Chengcheng away.

Chengcheng turned back to look at Zhou Songyan, his eyes filled with reluctance: "Goodbye, Uncle."

Zhou Songyan gave a relatively gentle smile: "I'll take you back. It's too late, and it'll be hard to get a taxi."

He was angry with Li Mai, but he was also worried about them going back alone.

Li Mai opened her mouth to refuse, but Zhou Songyan took the box away.

"Li Mai, just consider it me meddling in other people's business. I can't stand seeing you get into trouble so late at night."

Li Mai pursed her lips, glanced down at Chengcheng, and ultimately did not say anything in refusal.

Zhou Songyan did not change her clothes and was still wearing her home clothes.

After putting the small box in the car, we went to the gate to bring in Li Mai's box and put it in the trunk.

Li Mai: "..."

She had completely forgotten that she had left her suitcase at the door. How did Zhou Songyan know?

This man's thoughts are truly...

Chengcheng is sitting in a child safety seat.

Li Mai sat in the passenger seat.

Zhou Songyan and Li Mai didn't speak, and Chengcheng wasn't a chattering, noisy child either.

The carriage was unusually quiet.

Li Mai glanced at Zhou Songyan.

This guy has a really sour look on his face.

It's as if someone owes him hundreds of millions.

We arrived at the entrance of Heyun Residential Area.

Li Mai got off the bus.

With a stern face, Zhou Songyan carried Chengcheng out of the car. Seeing Li Mai open the trunk, he went over and took the box out first.

Li Mai looked at him: "Thank you, Mr. Zhou!"

That's just how Zhou Songyan is; no matter how angry he is, he's always a gentleman.

Zhou Songyan didn't look at her, but ruffled Chengcheng's hair twice and said, "Go inside."

"Thank you, Uncle, for bringing us back!"

"Auntie, let's go."

"Um."

The mother and son each pulled a suitcase and entered the residential area hand in hand.

Zhou Songyan sat in the car and drove away only after he could no longer see them.

When they got home, Li Mai told Chengcheng to go to sleep.

The house was a bit dirty, and she didn't have the energy to clean it, so she took a shower and went to bed.

The next day was Sunday, so I didn't have to work.

After waking up, Li Mai stayed in bed for a while.

Chengcheng gets up.

The house was spotless, and a delicious breakfast was laid out on the dining table.

He ran to the kitchen with a smile and hugged Li Mai's leg: "Mom, I missed you so much."

Li Mai felt a warmth in her heart, put the milk on the stove, squatted down and hugged Chengcheng.

"Mom misses you too."

They had never been separated for so long before, and neither of them was used to it.

Li Mai patted Chengcheng's little shoulder: "Come on, let's go eat."

"Um."

During dinner, Li Mai looked up at Chengcheng and asked, "Baby, are you... are you happy at Daddy's house?"

Chengcheng paused for a moment, then nodded slightly.

But he quickly added, "I'm happiest living with my mom!"

This statement sounds like a declaration of loyalty.

Li Mai felt a mix of bitterness and sorrow in her heart.

Chengcheng is no different from other children who choose to stay with their father or mother after a divorce.

Despite Li Mai's fear that her son would be taken away.

But she didn't want to stop Chengcheng from meeting his father.

That would be too cruel.

I already feel bad for not being able to give Chengcheng a complete family, so this is the only way I can make it up to him.

What she didn't have, she wanted her son to have, even if it wasn't complete.

She has never had a father since she was a child, and she understands Chengcheng.

When she was little, she saw other children who had fathers who loved them, and she longed to have a father too.

She asked her mother, "Where did Daddy go?"

Her mother gave her a severe beating.

From then on, she dared not ask again.

Li Mai held Chengcheng's little hand: "Baby, if you like your dad, you can call him."

"Mother……"

Chengcheng could hardly believe it.

He thought his mother didn't want him to contact his father.

Li Mai smiled and said, "Actually, Mom doesn't hate Dad, it's just that Mom and Dad can't be together anymore."

“Our relationship won’t affect your relationship with your dad. Mom will find a chance to tell your dad that you are his child.”

Chengcheng slid off the chair and rushed into Li Mai's arms: "Mommy!"

Li Mai hugged him tightly.

She wants her baby to be happy.

After breakfast, Li Mai took Chengcheng out to play all day.

The next day was Monday.

Li Mai is going to work, while Cheng Cheng is at home.

She's not the boss, and bringing Chengcheng to work would have a bad influence.

At noon, Li Mai received a video call from You Huan.

"Li Mai, isn't the scenery here beautiful?"

Li Mai smiled and said, "So beautiful!"

"Senior, are you having fun?"

"I'm so happy! My heart feels so much lighter after coming out. I should have come out and had some fun sooner. Why was I wasting my time at home?"

"Did you meet any handsome guys?"

You Huan shook her head: "I haven't found anyone I like yet."

The two chatted for a while.

You Huan asked, "I heard you say you were on a business trip the other day, what did Chengcheng do?"

She called that day, but Li Mai was busy and only said a few words before hanging up.

Li Mai didn't hide it from her: "Chengcheng is with Zhou Songyan."

"What???" You Huan was extremely surprised.

"Why did you leave Chengcheng with him? Aren't you afraid he'll find out Chengcheng's identity?"

"You know it, you know it. Chengcheng likes him."

“Li Mai…”

You Huan knew that Chengcheng was the person Li Mai cared about most.

If Chengcheng were taken away by the Zhou family, she would definitely wish she were dead.

But she's willing to do this for Chengcheng.

Li Mai was stronger and braver than she had imagined.
