Chapter 13 Encountering the Number One Unlucky Person from My Past Life Early in the Morning

In my dream...

It was a clear, sunny day. He was holding Lu Ying's hand on his left and Liu Fengming's hand on his right.

Lu Chuqing had a big smile on her face and called out happily, "Daddy, Mommy."

Suddenly, my left hand loosened.

Lu Chuqing looked over and saw Lu Ying waving at her with a big smile, "Be a good girl, baby, Mommy will be back soon, wait for Mommy..."

Lu Chuqing felt a sudden panic and shouted, "Mommy! Mommy!"

But the woman, who was getting further and further away, kept repeating that same sentence. Then she turned around and walked forward step by step.

Lu Chuqing wanted to chase after him; subconsciously, she felt like she was running. But after a long time, she was still in the same place, while Lu Ying was getting further and further away and soon disappeared from sight.

She felt as if the world had turned gray, empty and cold, and she almost screamed, "Mommy! Mommy!"

But no one responded.

Liu Fengming appeared in front of her without her noticing. The man who had just been all smiles now glared at her, veins bulging on his forehead, and said fiercely, "Your mother is gone! She doesn't want you anymore!"

Lu Chuqing didn't believe it and cried out, "No, Mommy didn't leave! I want Mommy, I want Mommy!"

The man raised his hand and pushed her down, his face contorted with rage. "Your mother doesn't want you anymore. She's never coming back!"

Lu Chuqing tried to get up, but couldn't get up no matter what she did. She cried loudly, repeatedly calling, "Mommy, Mommy..."

"Mom!" The child's sweet voice was clear and melodious. After the first sound, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door.

"Qingqing! What's wrong, Qingqing?" Aunt Chai Shuhua pushed open the door and sat down on the bed, picking up the little one and holding her in her arms.

Lu Chuqing was dazed for a moment before realizing that she was dreaming. She whispered, "I just had a really scary dream. I dreamt that ghosts were chasing me."

The little dumpling's face was covered in tear stains, and her dark eyelashes were wet and clumped together.

Chai Shuhua tenderly wiped away her tears and gently coaxed her, "Qingqing, don't be afraid. Dreams are just dreams. Your aunt is here. They won't dare to scare our Qingqing."

Lu Chengyang jumped over at some point, and when he met her gaze, his face was full of disgust. "You can even cry from a dream. What a coward!"

The emptiness and despair in her dream had not yet dissipated. Lu Chuqing was too lazy to pay attention to the boy's cheeky words. After Chai Shuhua wiped away her tears and comforted her, she carried her downstairs.

Perhaps because of a dream, she woke up late this morning, and when she went downstairs, everyone in the family was busy with other things.

Chai Shuhua was doing handicrafts at home. She was still asleep when Lu Ying left, so she took her things and went to the living room in the middle of the second floor to work.

Upon hearing her shout, I immediately dropped what I was doing and ran over.

After the adults had finished eating breakfast, Chai Shuhua gave Lu Chengyang five yuan and asked him to take Lu Chuqing to the west end of the village to eat hot dry noodles.

The western end of the village is right next to the highway, and because it's so close to the main road, those few households run small businesses.

It's not far, but at Lu Chuqing's current pace, it will take about ten minutes.

Lu Chengyang thought she was too slow, so he would carry her while running. When he got tired after running a short distance, he would put her down and walk on his own. After a while, he would carry her again while running.

Even so, it took the two of them seven or eight minutes to arrive.

The restaurant is open-air, with tables and chairs set up outside. Because the front door faces the main road and the back door faces the village, this restaurant has a back door.

There were tables and chairs set up both in front and behind. Lu Chengyang led her to a less crowded spot near the back door and went into the courtyard to order a small bowl of hot dry noodles.

Actually, the store has other dishes, but they are all a little spicy, and we were afraid she wouldn't be able to eat them.

Lu Chuqing didn't dwell on it. She had only been up for a short time and didn't really feel like eating anything. She just ate whatever was available to fill her stomach and keep her from getting hungry.

Although it wasn't early, the shop was still quite crowded, mostly with people from nearby villages.

When Lu Chuqing sat down, she was the only person at the table. In the short time it took to turn her head, a couple came and sat down with their child across from her.

The proprietress was still shouting loudly, "There are seats in the back, find a seat yourself!"

She was already in a bad mood because of her dream that morning. When her mind was half-empty, people suddenly appeared in front of her. After taking a closer look at their faces, her mood immediately plummeted to its lowest point.

The woman opposite was dressed plainly, wearing a pink plaid short-sleeved shirt, light blue loose riding breeches, and her hair was tied into a low ponytail. She was putting the little boy in her arms onto the stool.

The little boy was chubby; his red short-sleeved shirt clung tightly to his flesh, and his denim shorts were open at the crotch, revealing something that looked like a chicken's beak.

Just as the woman put the little boy down and was about to sit down, the man on the other side looked at her with an unfriendly expression and said, "What are you doing? Aren't you going to order food or just sitting here staring?"

The woman's face instantly turned ugly. She was about to say something when the man said again, "Give me a big bowl of beef offal noodles, with extra chili! Order whatever you want to eat, don't dawdle, we still have to rush to the city after we finish eating!"

The little boy then tugged at the woman's clothes and shouted, "Mom! I want to eat sausage! Buy me sausage! And drink Wahaha!"

The man frowned, more impatient than coaxing. He looked at the little boy and said, "We don't have any sausages here. There's a big supermarket there later, they have everything. We'll buy some then!"

The little boy's face immediately fell, and he cried out, "No, no, I want it! I just saw it! There's Wahaha! I want to drink Wahaha!"

An elderly man behind them turned around and said, "If the kid wants it, just buy it for him! Little kids all love those drinks, my granddaughter keeps asking for them too..."

People at other tables echoed this sentiment, making the man and woman feel awkward, and they had no choice but to compromise.
