After that day, I don't know if Liu Zhang actually contacted Wang Qiang later, but she changed seats again before the last month of this semester, after saying that she would not easily change seats again after the first time.
Significant changes were made to the original seating arrangements. Liu Zhang and his deskmate Zhou Lu were moved to different locations, one in the second row on the right against the wall, and the other in the fifth row on the left against the wall.
Zhou Lu was transferred to the back. He hadn't done well in the recent exams, which was somewhat related to his current situation.
Qu Fusang was moved to the seat in front of Lu Chuqing, while Qiao Xiangdong and Zhao Jiayan were moved to the right aisle seats, one in the same row as Lu Chuqing and the other in the row behind.
Other students took their places, but their group remained largely unchanged, still clustered together.
After that day, Lu Chuqing did remember Zhou Lu's name for a while, but as the semester drew to a close, she had more and more homework, and then various holidays came one after another, so she had a very fulfilling day.
Zhou Lu was too far away, and Lu Chuqing had no presence in the class, so she soon forgot about him.
On Christmas Eve, the school started giving out apples.
When Lu Chuqing arrived at class early in the morning, there were several packaged apples on her desk.
Still junior high students, and only in the first year, the students were relatively inexperienced. Even a few apples showed how popular Lu Chuqing was.
There was nothing on the outside of the packaging, and she didn't know who sent it. Lu Chuqing thought it would be a waste to throw it away, so she put all the apples into the table.
She was still thinking that Yi Lulinqi should be able to earn quite a bit of money. He was older and should earn more than her. They could then sell the apples they couldn't finish at the night market and make a lot of money.
They had tried this money-making method a couple of years ago. As soon as her second brother stood there, all the beautiful women came to buy from him.
It was cold, so she arrived at class right on time. She had just finished tidying up her desk when the morning self-study bell rang. Without paying much attention, she took out her textbook and started memorizing.
After a drowsy morning self-study session, Zhou Guanqi, who hadn't shown up for a long time, came over, ostensibly to give his younger siblings "peace apples," but actually just to give Lu Chuqing that apple wrapped like a flower.
"The semester is almost over and I'm busy with schoolwork, but I still remembered to bring a peace apple to visit Chuqing. Isn't that sincere enough?"
Lu Chuqing looked speechless. "That must have been really tough on you."
Zhou Guanqi wore his signature smile again, "But thinking that it's Chu Qing, it's not hard at all."
Sweet dreams on Christmas Eve!
After saying that, the person tilted their head and winked, then put one hand in their pocket, waved to Lu Chuqing, and left, as if afraid she would return the apple.
"...He should really be grateful that he's still a young man in his prime," Lu Chuqing muttered speechlessly.
It was terribly cold, and the school had already turned on the heating. Studying in the classroom with the doors and windows closed all day was quite stifling. When school was over, Lu Chuqing took out her phone to ask Lu Linqi if he wanted to go sell apples, but when she turned it on, she saw that Lu Ying had sent her a message.
"Qingqing, your second aunt is back. Your second uncle is treating us to dinner tonight, so remember to come back early!"
Just then, Lu Linqi also sent a message, "Wait in the classroom for a while after school. I have something to do here. I'll come find you later so we can take the bus home together."
Lu Chuqing had no choice but to reply that she understood.
After sending the message, she started packing her things. After the long break, when she returned to the classroom, she found that there were several more apples in her desk drawer. Various packages were taking up space, and the girl's schoolbag could not hold them all.
Without much hesitation, she started peeling off the outer packaging. To her surprise, the apples inside were all excellent, red and big, some even with words on them.
However, she prefers crunchy textures, so she eliminated several of the soft ones.
As the classmates gradually left and her friends departed, Lu Chuqing had almost finished peeling the apples. She took out the last box and glanced at the desk, when she suddenly noticed a lonely little apple in the innermost corner.
There was no packaging, just a single apple. It wasn't particularly small, but compared to other large red apples that are often given as gifts, that apple seemed quite ordinary.
It wasn't entirely pink; it was just a very ordinary color, half red and half yellow. Upon closer inspection, the apple's shape was perfectly round, and you could say there was nothing wrong with it.
Lu Chuqing glanced at it a few more times, but didn't dwell on who would give her such an ordinary-looking apple that looked like it had been carefully selected.
With final exams approaching and much studying needed to be done, her backpack was packed with books and so many apples that the zipper wouldn't close halfway, leaving only the tops of a few apples sticking out.
Lu Linqi quickly replied to her message, saying that he had finished his work and was on his way to her teaching building, and told her to pack her things and come downstairs at that time.
Lu Chuqing thought he was busy with his studies, but when she came downstairs and saw him and Xi Qingxu carrying a large box of apples together at the bottom of the stairs, she was dumbfounded.
"Second brother, what's wrong with you...?"
Lu Linqi also noticed the backpack she was holding, which was so full of apples that the zipper couldn't be closed. A moment of displeasure flashed across his face, but he still introduced it to her, "This is my deskmate Xi Qingxu. We received too many apples, so we decided to sell them at the night market. I told my dad we'd be going there tonight. Do you want to come with us?"
“Ah…” Lu Chuqing glanced at Xi Qingxu, who was expressionless, and then at her second brother, who was looking at a large box of apples with a troubled expression. Then she agreed, “Okay, let’s go together.”
She had mentioned before that she wanted to help Xi Qingxu experience other emotions, and she felt that the simplest and easiest way was to let the boy make more friends.
Lu Linqi had mentioned before that Xi Qingxu was in the same class as him, but she didn't know that they were deskmates. So Lu Chuqing said to Xi Qingxu, "If you feel that you don't know how to make friends, try to get along better with your deskmate first, and then gradually communicate more with the students in front and behind you."
