Liu Fengming has been having a very difficult time these days.
After the divorce, he spent several nights drinking with his cronies.
One day, when I returned to my rented room, everything except a pair of worn-out slippers and an old thin blanket had been looted, and even the stove was gone!
He thought his house had been robbed, so he went to the landlord and started yelling at him.
The landlady, an old woman, pointed at him with a fierce face and yelled, "I didn't come looking for you, and you're coming to me? Perfect! Pay your rent right now! You owe me two months' rent and you still have the nerve to come here and yell at me!"
"They don't appreciate their good wife and kids. As soon as they get divorced, they pack their things and leave, and now they're all rushing here in a panic! They're all worthless! No man is any good!"
The landlady was an old woman with a loud voice, and the street was narrow. After she shouted twice, people on both sides came out to see what was going on.
When a little boy saw the man being kicked out by the landlady, his gaze lingered for a couple of moments before he quickly looked away, seemingly indifferent.
Liu Fengming had no money left to pay the rent, so after being evicted, he had no choice but to search his phone for his friends to ask for temporary accommodation.
As a result, one by one, they either said they had partners and it was inconvenient, or they just happened to be away, so no one was willing to let him stay.
As luck would have it, the woman from the south called him again, speaking in a high-pitched voice, saying that her lipstick was finished and she wanted to get a new one.
Liu Fengming suppressed his frustration and tried to coax her, but the woman realized he didn't want to pay and immediately turned hostile, "Are you unwilling to pay or do you not have the money? You can't even afford a lipstick, what a poor wretch!"
After saying that, he hung up the phone. The man tried to call several more times but couldn't get through. Frustration exploded. He wanted to smash the phone but couldn't bring himself to do it. In anger, he kicked over a roadside trash can, scattering garbage all over the ground.
With no other options, he spent several days aimlessly wandering around an internet cafe until Lu Jun caught him.
He was afraid of this tall, strong man back then, and he is still afraid of this tall, strong man now.
Lu Jun used to be a troublemaker. He didn't study properly and got into many fights. His left eyebrow is broken off because of a fight when he was young.
With his thick eyebrows and sharp eyes, he looked like someone not to be trifled with. Add to that his broken eyebrow and muscular physique, and he could send someone flying with a single punch.
The man asked for his household registration booklet, and he had no choice but to give it to him.
Later I learned that Lu Ying wanted to change Lu Chuqing's name and transfer her household registration.
How could he agree to that? If this is changed, he will have even less reason to control Lu Chuqing in the future!
But he really couldn't beat Lu Jun, so he had to make other plans.
It wasn't until late August that he belatedly remembered Lu Chuqing's birthday, but it seemed like it had already passed.
But shameless as he was, he still bought a six-inch cake and hitched a ride on a tractor heading out of town toward the village where the Lu family lived.
When he got off the bus, Liu Fengming, despite feeling nauseous and his sore buttocks, forced a smile and thanked the old man before carrying the now-collapsed cake back into the village.
He had stayed at the Lu family's house quite often before, and many villagers knew him, so he deliberately chose to come over at noon when most people were at home eating and no one came out.
It was unbearably hot. Even though it wasn't a long way into the village, Liu Fengming was already covered in sweat, and his clothes were soaked through.
He cursed the sweltering heat in his heart, but then thought that if he went to the Lu family, they would at least let him stay because of his difficult circumstances.
When they arrived, the Lu family hadn't started eating yet. Lu Chengyang and her daughter Liu Jing were playing cat's cradle under the flat building in front of the door.
Seeing the little girl's smiling face, the man instantly put on what he thought was a very loving smile, and before he even stepped through the door, he called out, "Jingjing!"
Before her household registration was changed, the Lu family all called her Qingqing. Now that it's been so long, the little dumpling has gotten used to it. When someone suddenly called her "Jingjing," she was still confused and didn't react.
Liu Fengming assumed his daughter Liu Jing was stupid, and his smile widened as he held the cake in front of him.
"Jingjing must have missed her dad. He's been a bit busy these past few days, and when he finally had some free time, he realized he forgot to celebrate my Jingjing's birthday. So he immediately bought a big cake to celebrate my Jingjing's birthday."
Lu Jun ate lunch at the construction site today, so he didn't come back. Lu Ying also just got home and went to take a shower. Lu Yongkang hasn't come back from cutting grass yet either.
Cai Min and Chai Shuhua were busy in the kitchen when they heard a man talking and peeked out to see who it was.
During this time, Lu Chengyang had already stood up. He didn't offer Liu Fengming a seat, but instead subtly shielded the little man behind him and looked at the self-amusing man.
"My sister's birthday was a long time ago. My aunt even bought a ten-inch cake, and it took her three days to finish it. You're so small, and you still dare to call it a big cake? The cream has all collapsed!"
The teenager spoke bluntly, and although he didn't show much expression, his tone was full of sarcasm.
Liu Fengming's face instantly darkened.
Just then, Cai Min came out of the kitchen, her expression not too good. She looked at the man and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Remembering the purpose of his visit, Liu Fengming suppressed his anger and forced a smile. "Mom, I'm here to celebrate Jingjing's birthday..."
Before she could finish speaking, Cai Min raised her hand to interrupt, "Don't call me Mom, just call me Auntie."
The man's expression was visibly stiff and awkward; he felt uncomfortable standing there holding a collapsed cake.
Lu Ying changed her clothes and came downstairs. She saw Liu Fengming and her brows furrowed instantly.
"Liu Fengming, what are you doing here? We're divorced. You're harassing my family. Get out of here."
The most effective way to deal with someone like Liu Fengming is to simply tell him to get lost, rather than to talk to him at all.
Seeing Lu Ying approaching, dressed in a loose cotton nightgown, her mature and alluring figure impossible to conceal, the man's gaze lingered on her for a moment.
