Chapter 6 Just Want More Sweetness

Several tall boys said they were going into the water, and they had already taken off their short-sleeved shirts, rolled up their trousers, and walked into the water.

The three girls and the shorter one were all playing on the shore, each doing their own thing.

Liu Jing was surrounded by her three older sisters who braided flower wreaths for her. Before long, she was covered from head to toe in various small decorations made of wild grass.

She had gotten used to it and sat quietly watching them busy themselves with various things on her.

Since I was never loved like this in my previous life, and now that I've been reborn at this age, I might as well relive my childhood.

Before long, Song Daqian was the first to win, showing off a medium-sized crab, which prompted several teenagers to flatter each other.

Lu Chengyang wanted to give Liu Jing a big one, so he cheered and then focused on looking at the crack in the stone.

During this time, Song Tianhao and Tiewa both caught a crab. Although Huzi didn't catch one, he found a nest of river clams, seven or eight of various sizes, which amazed his friends!

Just then, Lu Chengyang actually touched a big crab, whose claws were bigger than his hand.

The boy ran over excitedly with the crab in his hand, wanting to show it to his little sister.

As a result, his little sister was having a great time playing with others, and she didn't respond when he called her!

The crab in his hand took the opportunity to struggle, its thick claws clamping down hard on his flesh. The boy cried out in pain and immediately flung the crab back into the river.

"..."

The commotion finally caught Liu Jing's attention. Looking over there, she saw her cousin with a sour face, clearly in a bad mood.

She immediately dropped the flower wreath, stood up, went to him, looked up at him with her little face, and asked, "Brother, did you not catch any crabs?"

As soon as he said this, Lu Chengyang's face visibly darkened. He certainly couldn't say that he had been caught off guard and pinched by a crab, or even thrown into the river.

But in order to save face in front of his sister, he shamelessly said, "Is your brother the kind of person who can't catch crabs?"

"I threw that crab away because I saw it was about to molt. I'll go down and catch another one for you right now!"

After saying that, he went back into the water.

Liu Jing paused for a moment, unable to understand why this person's competitive spirit had suddenly surged.

After playing by the river all afternoon, Liu Jing inevitably played in the water for a while.

When they got home, Grandma saw that Liu Jing's skirt was mostly wet, so she grabbed a broom and chased Lu Chengyang around the yard.

As soon as she entered the door, her aunt took her to get hot water for a bath. After she changed into clean clothes, her grandmother was still chasing after her.

The old woman, broom in hand, yelled at Lu Chengyang, who was standing on the opposite bank, "You little brat, you're getting bolder and bolder! You dare bring your sister to play by the river! What if something happens?!"

Lu Chengyang's face turned slightly red, and he didn't even pant after running several laps. He put his hands on his hips and argued with his wife, "I didn't take her into the water. Gou Dan and the others held her and played in the water for a while. With so many of us, how could we let anything happen to her!"

These words only added fuel to the fire, and even Chai Shuhua joined in the scolding, "When you take Jingjing out to play around nearby, who has ever said anything against you? It's different by the river! The water is so deep, if something happens, it'll be too late to cry!"

"Your grandma is teaching you a lesson, and you're talking back! You're such a brat, you don't know your place!"

"Mom! You should beat him as hard as you can! He gets itchy if he doesn't get a beating every few days!"

Liu Jing was held in Chai Shuhua's arms, and she felt a little sorry for Lu Chengyang as he was scolded.

He's just a kid, and a boy at that, so it's normal for him to be playful. Besides, his brother only took her to play in the water because he wanted to make her happy. Even though she didn't say she wanted to play, he held onto her little arm tightly on the shore the whole time, and the water was splashed up by him.

It's clear that Lu Chengyang was also worried that something might happen to her.

I'm still just a kid myself, yet I'm worrying about this little one. When I get home, I get chased and scolded without a word. I feel wronged no matter what.

So she broke free from Chai Shuhua's embrace, ran to Cai Min, and looked up at her, pleading, "Grandma, don't hit my brother. I insisted that he take me to play in the water."

"My brother held my hand the whole time. I didn't even touch the edge of the river. It was Daqian and the others who scooped water up for me to play with. My brother was watching me very carefully!"

The little dumpling spoke in a childish voice, and after she finished speaking, Cai Min lost her temper, bent down and rubbed her little head, "Our Jingjing is still the most sensible!"

Then she looked up and glared at Lu Chengyang, "Unlike your brother, he's always causing trouble!"

The young boy, thick-skinned as ever, didn't take it to heart at all. He made a face and then ran off to take a shower and change his clothes.

Enraged, Cai Min cursed at his retreating back again, "You little brat!"

When Lu Chengyang came out after taking a shower, Liu Jing was sitting under the flat building at the entrance of the courtyard, eating watermelon.

As the sun sets and the heat dissipates, a cool and pleasant breeze blows in through the doorway onto your face.

Cai Min and Chai Shuhua were cooking in the kitchen when Liu Jing saw him and raised her little hand to call out, "Brother, come and eat watermelon!"

The watermelon was grown in the small vegetable garden. It had been soaking in water all afternoon and was refreshingly cool.

Hearing this from the kitchen, Cai Min peeked out and said to Liu Jing, "Jingjing, eat quickly, don't save any for your brother!"

Lu Chengyang ran over in a few steps, picked up another untouched piece of melon, took a big bite, and said indistinctly, "Jingjing specially saved this for me, and I'm going to eat it!"

Seeing his smug look, Cai Min glared at him again before going back inside to cook.

Lu Chengyang didn't sit down; he squatted down opposite Liu Jing and started eating watermelon. When he saw the juice on her face, he reached out and wiped it off.

"You idiot, you got food all over your face while eating!"

Liu Jing didn't want to, but she's too young now, and she unknowingly got it all over her face.

Without saying a word, she took out an uneaten lollipop from the pocket of her newly changed lantern shorts and handed it to Lu Chengyang.
