Chapter 7 Everyone is doing well

Early in the morning, Liu Jing was awakened by the crowing of roosters in the enclosure.

As Lu Ying was applying baby cream, Lu Chengyang's voice came along with the sound of footsteps as he went upstairs.

"Auntie, Jingjing hasn't gotten up yet?"

"She's up, I'm wiping her face!"

As she responded, Lu Ying had already wiped her face, opened the door, and let the young boy come in and carry her away.

"Good morning, brother~" Liu Jing raised her arm as he did so, greeting him in a childish voice.

Lu Chengyang hugged her, kissed her sweet little face, and walked out happily, "Come on, brother will take you to collect eggs!"

As the young boy went down the stairs, Liu Jing subtly rubbed the cheek that had been kissed, her little nose wrinkling slightly.

After she reached the bottom of the stairs, she stared intently at Lu Chengyang with her dark, round eyes.

"Brother, please don't kiss Jingjing anymore. Jingjing is all grown up now, it'll be embarrassing if you kiss her again."

Unexpectedly, the little dumpling said such a thing, and Lu Chengyang was immediately amused by her. He deliberately complained, "You little thing, you have so many things to do. How much do you think your brother cherishes you! You smell like a baby, who would want to kiss you!"

Several elders were in the courtyard, and they were amused by the little dumpling's quirky words when they heard the conversation.

Aunt Chai Shuhua said, "Our Jingjing has really grown up; she even knows how to be shy now!"

Liu Jing looked up at her and greeted her, "Good morning, Auntie."

"Good morning, Jingjing!" The woman came over, took her small hand, and kissed her cheek with a big smile.

Liu Jing immediately covered her face, her sweet, childlike voice exclaiming dramatically, "Ah, so embarrassing~"

The elders were amused even more by her appearance.

Lu Ying heard the commotion as she came downstairs. She walked up to her daughter and pinched her chubby little face that wasn't covered up. "Let Mom see if your little face is blushing!"

The little dumpling deliberately squirmed a couple of times, then parted her fingers slightly to reveal her round, bright eyes, "It's red, it's red, Mommy, don't look~"

This caused everyone to burst into laughter again.

After the excitement subsided, Lu Chengyang took her to the chicken coop to collect eggs.

Liu Jing wasn't particularly curious about this, because in her previous life she had often gone into chicken pen full of chicken droppings to collect eggs.

But the little boy was so excited that he came to ask her to collect eggs early in the morning, so she had no choice but to come and keep her little cousin company!

There were dozens of chickens, ducks, and geese in the pen, quite a lot. Liu Jing stood outside the fence watching the young boy move among the many poultry.

Before long, the small basket was full, with the three kinds of eggs mixed together, which looked quite pleasing.

They certainly couldn't finish eating it all on a daily basis, so every two or three days Lu Yongkang would take it to the city to sell.

Looking at the heavy basket of eggs, Liu Jing cursed her past self a hundred times over. How could she have been so stupid as to let Liu Fengming trick her into going to the Liu family?!

Lu Yongkang was a village cadre in his early years, but he didn't want to do it anymore, so he contracted dozens of acres of land and planted crops, fruit trees and vegetables in rotation, and made a lot of money.

Now that I'm older, I've given up most of my land, leaving only about 10 or 20 acres to feed my large family.

On weekdays, they work in the fields, cutting grass and feeding livestock. They can't stay idle, but it's not too tiring.

Compared to her previous life, Liu Jing felt more and more that following Lu Ying was the right thing to do.

My maternal grandfather had been a village cadre, so he had a broader perspective and was also capable. Our family was never too poor, and we could afford to eat meat every now and then.

If this were the Liu family, they would be considered a wealthy and noble family.

Seeing that her grandmother Cai Min had stuffed an egg into each of Liu Jing's little hands, Liu Jing felt that those were not eggs, but hot gold nuggets!

At least she didn't have to worry about food and drink during her childhood.

In contrast, in her previous life, she fed all the chickens and collected all the eggs. She had never even seen an eggshell, let alone eaten a chicken leg!

Someone who eats two eggs every morning is unlikely to have many opportunities to enter the workforce.

If you eat something slightly better, you're accused of being a glutton, wasting money, being selfish and only thinking about your own enjoyment, and being disrespectful to the elderly.

Now, she can't eat that much at all. If she mutters even slightly that it's too much, her family will say that she's not eating enough and that she needs to eat more to grow.

In comparison, Liu Jing felt that it was quite remarkable that she had lived to be almost thirty years old in her previous life, and she was now increasingly grateful to her maternal grandparents' family.

After breakfast, Lu Jun accompanied Lu Ying into the city to divorce Liu Fengming.

Before leaving, the woman told her to stay home and bring her a small cake when she returned.

Liu Jing knew that she had been tricked by Liu Fengming into going, so she never considered going.

She nodded obediently to Lu Ying, took Lu Chengyang's big hand and said, "Mom, don't worry, my brother will take me to play with him."

The young boy patted his chest and assured her, "Don't worry, Auntie, I'll take good care of Jingjing."

Watching the electric scooter disappear into the distance, Liu Jing felt a pang of melancholy.

Actually, she and Lu Ying are very similar; in their previous lives, both mother and daughter had bad fates.

My maternal grandfather, Lu Yongkang, had two sons and one daughter.

The eldest son, Lu Jun, didn't receive much education, but he's physically strong and capable. He works as a construction worker in Yangcheng, and although he's exposed to the elements, he earns a good income.

The second son, Lu Hang, does business in the provincial capital and comes back seven or eight times a year. He has a son who is two years older than Liu Jing.

Liu Jing couldn't recall even a glimpse of this uncle from her distant memories; she only remembered that she had another uncle.

Her mother, Lu Ying, was the youngest sister.

Perhaps because his first two sons were boys, Lu Yongkang doted on his youngest daughter very much. Her two older brothers had also taken good care of her since she was little, keeping a close eye on her.

As a result, Lu Ying was naive and unable to distinguish between good and bad men. She was easily deceived by Liu Fengming, who was somewhat handsome, when she first entered society. It wasn't until after marriage that she discovered the difference between men before and after marriage.
