Chapter 351 I Can’t Live Without Her (55)

In the dim morning light, a ray of pale blue skylight filtered through the carved window lattices of the inn.

Ruan Niang opened her eyes and found herself tightly wrapped in a pair of warm hands.

Sheng Jingheng lay on his side outside, his slender fingers intertwined with hers, never loosening their grip even in his sleep.

His gentle eyebrows and eyes were coated with a soft glow in the morning light, his eyelashes cast a light shadow under his eyes, and a smile still lingered on his lips.

"Jingheng..." As soon as Ruan Niang moved, the man woke up immediately.

He subconsciously folded his arms and pulled the person closer to him, his voice hoarse from just waking up: "Why are you awake so early?"

His fingertips stroked the faint blue shadows under her eyes, "You cried so much last night, you should get more sleep."

Ruan Niang turned her face away, her hair falling to cover her slightly red eyes: "The medicine shop is going to get new goods today..."

Before she could finish her words, a warm palm held her cheek.

Sheng Jingheng stood up, the brocade quilt slipping off to reveal her snow-white undershirt. The collar was loose and open, and there were still teeth marks on her collarbone from last night. "Tell the shopkeeper to open two hours later."

He took the comb from the bedside and gently combed her hair. "You always act so stubbornly and call me..."

The bronze mirror reflected his suddenly dim eyes, and the knuckles holding the jade comb turned slightly white.

Ruan Niang looked at him in the mirror, then suddenly turned around and threw herself into his arms.

Gardenia's hair brushed across his chin, and Sheng Jingheng groaned, but he immediately hugged her.

"Jingheng, the angry words I said yesterday don't count." Ruan Niang buried her face in his chest and said in a muffled voice, "As long as you still want this family..."

Sheng Jingheng's Adam's apple rolled, and he lowered his head to kiss the top of her head: "It's me who's the bastard."

His fingertips stroked the thin calluses on her wrists from years of pounding medicine, "You have served the Sheng family for so many years..."

The voice was suddenly interrupted by the sound of clocks outside the window.

He suddenly tightened his arms, as if to rub the person into his bones and blood: "When I come back from court, let's go to the West Market to pick out a new medicine mill. I want the one made of white marble."

Ruan Niang burst into laughter and patted his shoulder: "Is the salary of a fourth-rank official enough for you to squander?"

But when he was tying the jade belt on his official uniform, he secretly stuffed two more silver bills into his purse.

That night, Xuan Ling quietly returned to the Yangxin Palace and dismissed his attendants.

As I stepped into the flower hall quietly, I heard a string of silver bell-like laughter.

He clenched his fists suddenly. This girl really summoned the fake one!

"You are so good, Sheng Xiyan!" The black dragon-patterned boots rolled over the golden bricks, but froze the moment the shark silk curtain was lifted.

His imperial concubine Jiao Bao'er was lying on the dragon couch, her apricot-colored nightgown slipping down half of her shoulders. She was holding a copy of "Legends of Jianghu Heroes" and laughing so hard that her body was shaking.

The ground was littered with snacks: pine nut shells piled up like a small mountain, candied fruit residue stuck to the lips, and even the memorials were covered with sesame candy crumbs.

"Your Majesty?" Sheng Xiyan hurriedly covered her belly with the script, "Didn't you say you were going to discuss the cold winter issue with the Ministry of Works tonight?..."

Xuan Ling walked around suspiciously, his eyes sweeping across the shadows behind the antique display cabinet. Could it be that the counterfeit had hidden the moment he came in?

I searched every place, but found no trace.

Sheng Xiyan asked, "Your Majesty, are you looking for Jingba? He was taken to the West Warm Pavilion."

Xuan Ling sat down beside the dragon couch and pinched her chin: "What are you looking at?"

"A storybook."

He rubbed his thumb across the corner of her lips and took the sugar residue into his mouth, "Didn't you think these words were vulgar before?"

"Children will laugh more if they see more jokes..." Sheng Xiyan hooked her arms around his neck.

Xuan Ling really couldn't find anything wrong, so he felt relieved.

He said to her, "Baby, I will definitely come back to accompany you after I finish my work, but you must not allow me to do so, please do not allow me to do so..."

What is not allowed?

Sheng Xiyan wondered, looking at him like this, was he afraid that she would summon Lingling? This was the only thing that could make Xuan Ling look so uneasy.

She put her arm around his neck and rocked him gently, saying coquettishly, "Oh, I'm very obedient. When you're busy, I read. During the day, I even had the opera musicians sing for a while. I entertain myself. I won't summon Lingling out."

Xuan Ling covered her mouth and said anxiously, "Shh, don't call me that name anymore. I always feel uneasy. I don't want this name anymore. Just call me husband. Remember?"

Seeing him talking in a daze, Sheng Xiyan covered her mouth and laughed, "Don't worry, he won't be able to come out if I don't summon him!"

Xuan Ling smiled in relief and pretended to be serious: "In that case, please help me change my clothes."

Sheng Xiyan sat on his lap, unbuttoning her clothes while teasing him, causing him to hold the back of her head and kiss her hard.

Hua Xia and Ming Yue brought pregnancy-maintaining medicine and bird's nest to the flower hall, but when they heard the red-faced voice, they hurriedly retreated.

Two days later, Xuan Ling clearly said that he would not be back until noon after finishing his work, but before lunch, Sheng Xiyan was leaning against the red railing feeding the koi when he suddenly saw the imperial carriage rushing towards him.

"Your Majesty, why are you back so early?"

Xuan Ling jumped off without waiting for the sedan chair to stop, his ink-black cloak fluttering like an eagle spreading its wings.

Before Sheng Xiyan could react, she was wrapped in a warm embrace.

"Xuanlang...I can't breathe..." The protest was swallowed by the passionate kiss.

Xuan Ling's lips were trembling, and his palm was slightly hot against her lower back, as if he wanted to press the seven-month pregnant belly into his body.

This caused Sheng Xiyan's heart to beat faster.

They had only been separated for two hours, so why was he as excited as if he hadn't seen her for a long time? Could this be what Xuan Ling often said - true love will never make you tired, but will only make you love more and more?
