Chapter 336 People Ran Away
Xia Lili's heart sank suddenly.
The three words "panda blood" exploded in her mind.
This blood type is extremely rare across the country, accounting for only about 0.3% of the population.
She suddenly looked up at the parents, and all the suspicious fragments from before instantly came together: their unusual obstruction, their disregard for their daughter's safety, and the fact that they drank chicken soup at home while Yiyi stood by and watched...
A chilling guess came to mind: Is Peng Yiyi really their biological daughter?
Xia Lili quickly replied: [Immediately find a way to verify her parents' blood types! Be careful how you do it, don't alert the enemy!]
However, the next second after she sent the message, the team member responsible for maintaining order rushed over, saying in a hurried tone: "Advisor Xia! That couple... are Peng Yiyi's parents, they're gone! They were just in line, and in the blink of an eye, they're gone!"
Xia Lili's heart tightened, and she immediately asked, "Did anyone see which direction they went?"
When the crowd around heard this, someone immediately responded enthusiastically to Xia Lili: "Hey! I think I saw it!"
"That man and woman just sneaked away towards the abandoned quarry over there!"
The person who was speaking pointed to a patch of overgrown wasteland to the west of the resettlement site.
"I'll go after him." Li Qihan's voice was firm and decisive, without any hesitation.
His eyes instantly became as sharp as a falcon's, and his body moved. He rushed towards the direction indicated by the witness like an arrow, and disappeared from everyone's sight.
The air in the temporary shelter seemed to be frozen.
Xia Lili hugged the dazed Peng Yiyi tightly, her eyes fixed on the direction where Li Qihan disappeared.
Time passes by every second.
About twenty minutes later, hurried footsteps and suppressed shouts were heard from the bushes to the west.
Everyone's attention was instantly drawn over.
Li Qihan's tall figure walked out from the weeds, his face grim but his breath steady.
His left and right hands, as if escorting prisoners, firmly clamped the couple who tried to escape.
The two men's clothes were disheveled, and their faces were full of panic and unwillingness. It was obvious that they could not escape from Li Qihan's clutches.
Li Qihan brought the two of them to the temporary headquarters. His voice was not loud, but it was clearly heard by everyone:
"The person has been caught."
"Why are you running?"
Li Qihan's gaze was like an icy blade, bearing down on the cowering couple. "Perfect," he said in a low voice, each word clear and bearing an undeniable command. "There are some issues concerning you and the child's blood type that need to be clarified face to face now."
The parents avoided eye contact and stammered, but only uttered some unclear syllables. They looked guilty, short of breath, and timid.
Xia Lili's suspicions grew stronger. She took a deep breath, squatted down, and gently brought Peng Yiyi, who had been leaning against her, her face pale, to the side.
She brushed away the girl's sweat-soaked hair and asked in the gentlest voice possible, "Yiyi, don't be afraid. Tell your sister."
"Are they... your biological parents?"
Peng Yiyi raised her face, her big eyes filled with confusion and a flash of fear.
She looked timidly at the couple, then at Xia Lili, and said quietly and confidently, "It was Mom and Dad... They raised me."
However, her next words made Xia Lili's heart ache even more: "But... Mom and Dad often take me out to visit relatives..."
The girl's voice became increasingly low, filled with grievance and fatigue. "It's always so far, so tiring."
"Also... every time I visit relatives, they give me an injection in my arm, saying... that my relatives will be unhappy if I don't get the injection..."
Peng Yiyi subconsciously rubbed her arm, a subtle movement that didn't escape Xia Lili's eyes. Her heart suddenly tightened, and a terrible guess surfaced in her mind.
She squatted down and asked in the softest voice possible: "Yiyi, can you let us see your arm?"
The girl hesitated and timidly rolled up her sleeves.
Xia Lili took a breath of cold air.
On the inside of the thin arm, there are several faded needle marks. Although not obvious, if you look closely, you can still make out the marks left by repeated punctures.
The latest one even had some slight bruising, obviously caused recently.
"Captain Li!" Xia Lili's voice was filled with suppressed anger and trembling. "Come here and take a look at this."
Li Qihan strode over upon hearing the sound. When he saw the marks on the girl's arm, his eyes froze instantly.
He needed no more evidence.
These needle marks, combined with the identity of "Panda Blood", point to a shocking truth.
Without any instructions, the surrounding rescue team members keenly sensed the change in atmosphere and moved their positions tacitly, forming an invisible encirclement, trapping the parents in the middle.
Li Qihan's movements were as fast as lightning.
He took out the handcuffs from his waist, and the metal buckles flashed a cold light in the sunlight.
"Based on the victim's confession and the physical evidence," his voice was as cold as ice, each word carrying a powerful force, "I now reasonably suspect you are involved in multiple criminal offenses, including abuse of minors, illegal blood draws, and possibly human trafficking."
With a "click", the handcuffs were precisely locked around the man's wrists. Without waiting for the man to react, he had already neatly handcuffed the woman's hands as well.
"Please cooperate with the investigation and come with me."
The parents' faces turned pale. The man tried to struggle: "Why are you arresting us? We didn't do anything!"
But Li Qihan's hands were as steady as an iron clamp, and he effortlessly led the two of them to the SUV parked nearby.
The rescue team members spontaneously made way for them, with suppressed anger in everyone's eyes.
The sound of the car door closing was heavy and decisive.
Li Qihan nodded to Xia Lili, his voice steady but revealing a subtle concern. "I'll leave this to you. I'll send them directly to the Municipal Bureau. This matter must be thoroughly investigated."
He turned to look at the little girl, his tone slowing down a bit. "Peng Yiyi, you guys...are here to visit relatives this time too, and ended up getting trapped on the road by a mudslide?"
Peng Yiyi nodded timidly.
Xia Lili hugged the girl tighter in her arms and felt her thin shoulders trembling slightly.
Xia Lili touched Peng Yiyi's head lovingly: "Don't be afraid, Yiyi. Your brothers and sisters will protect you and won't let anyone hurt you again."
Li Qihan turned around and was about to leave, but stopped.
He turned sideways and his eyes fell on Xia Lili's face. His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he didn't speak.
Xia Lili noticed his rare hesitation and raised the corner of her lips slightly: "Captain Li, is there anything else you want to tell me?"
