Chapter 229 Deep Water Prison
“Wow!”
Xia Lili's fingertips dug deep into the velvet of the seat, and the strange lights and shadows on the stage trembled in her pupils. "How did they do that?"
She turned her head suddenly—Li Qihan's slender index finger was hovering in front of the pink nose of the lop-eared rabbit.
The little rabbit suddenly raised its front paws and shook its furry head slightly following his bony fingers.
Li Qihan was actually teasing a rabbit!
"Captain Li," she tugged at his sleeve. "Aren't you good at magic?"
"Could you please be so kind as to decrypt it for me?"
"Optical illusion, 45-degree mirror, laser projection."
Li Qihan lowered his eyes to look at the rabbit's paw that suddenly grabbed his cufflinks, and lightly tapped the little guy's forehead with his cold white fingertips, "And——"
He suddenly stopped talking.
Xia Lili grabbed the edge of the table and leaned forward unconsciously: "Anything else?"
Li Qihan suddenly held the little rabbit in his arms, and tapped her forehead with its paw as a warning: "It would be pointless if you tell her the truth."
Xia Lili touched her forehead and said, "Okay..."
The first magic show on stage ended, Victor bowed gracefully and the staff quickly removed the props on the dissection table.
"It seems like the first magic trick scared everyone." He winked playfully, "How about we do a fun and interesting magic trick to relax?"
"By the way, where's my furry little assistant?"
He looked around in feigned confusion, "Where is that lovely lady who was keeping my rabbit for me earlier?"
Swish——
The spotlight suddenly hit Table 7 where Xia Lili was sitting, revealing her frightened expression.
Xia Lili froze for a moment, and then she realized that this was a global live broadcast, and she felt as if a thorn in her back.
She frantically poked Li Qihan's arm: "Where's the rabbit?"
Victor's eyes flickered between the two of them, and he suddenly revealed a sly smile: "It seems that the lucky audience members tonight are the two people at Table 7! Please come up on stage and lend me a hand!"
Xia Lili widened her eyes and suddenly realized - it turns out that the magician doesn't need a shill at all, the real "shill" is herself!
"Let's go."
Li Qihan's deep voice rang in his ears. He stood up calmly and straightened the front of his suit. "Quick victory."
Xia Lili took a deep breath and walked up the stairs.
When she actually stood under the spotlight, she was shocked to realize how huge the theater was. The dark audience seats below the stage seemed like a bottomless abyss, which made her involuntarily lean towards Li Qihan.
Under the spotlight, Xia Lili stood awkwardly beside Li Qihan, holding the little white rabbit.
Victor smiled and took out an exquisite silver birdcage. "This little rabbit will help us complete a 'wish magic' tonight, and we need your help."
Xia Lili carefully put the rabbit into the cage.
Victor covered himself with a crimson scarf and said, "Now, each of you will hold a corner of the scarf."
Li Qihan's bony fingers and Xia Lili's slightly trembling fingertips pinched the edge of the silk at the same time.
"Close your eyes," the magician's voice sounded like an incantation, "and imagine the cage disappearing."
Xia Lili and Li Qihan cooperated and did as they were told.
Three seconds later, the scarf was suddenly lifted up - the cage was empty!
Xia Lili took a deep breath and unconsciously grabbed Li Qihan's sleeve.
The man's calm body temperature came through the fabric, making her realize that her palms were full of sweat.
"Magic requires two synchronized heartbeats."
Victor's slender fingers gracefully reached into the inner pocket of his suit and pulled out the snow-white lop-eared rabbit like a magic trick.
There was a burst of applause at the scene.
Under the spotlight, Victor gently fiddled with the rabbit's ears and unexpectedly took out two silver rings from the fur.
One ring face is carved with a cute rabbit, while the other is carved with a majestic wolf head.
"To the best partner of the night."
The magician's emerald green eyes gleamed cunningly as he spun the two rings in a circle in his palm.
Xia Lili was quick-eyed and quick-handed. She snatched the wolf head ring with a hook of her finger, and a cunning smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
She stole a glance at Li Qihan beside her, her eyes full of anticipation - imagining Captain Li wearing the cute rabbit ring was even more interesting than magic.
Li Qihan lowered his eyes to glance at her triumphant expression, and took the rabbit ring calmly.
As the second magic trick came to an end, the heavy curtain behind the three people slowly closed.
There was a crisp sound of metal colliding backstage, and the staff were busy preparing for the next big magic trick.
Victor adjusted his cuffs elegantly and glanced at the expectant audience below.
"Before I reveal the next thrilling performance," he smiled and extended his hand to Xia Lili, "Beautiful lady, why don't you guess what I will perform next?"
Xia Lili blinked and tilted her head playfully: "Mr. Victor, I don't have your hypnosis and mind-reading abilities."
She deliberately lowered her voice and asked, "How about you reveal some inside information first?"
The audience suddenly burst into laughter.
Victor raised his index finger in a mysterious manner. "Just a reminder: I've been learning Chinese lately, and I particularly like an idiom from Dragon Country—'like a fish in water.'"
Xia Lili was glad she had checked the program before going on stage. It mentioned fish and water, and her eyes lit up: "Could it be... a deep-water cage? A 60-second piranha escape?"
"Bingo!"
Victor snapped his fingers and pulled out a transparent lottery box from the air like magic. "Now, please draw a small ball. Don't tell me the number. Let me guess which number you chose."
Xia Lili reached into the box, her fingertips moving among the numerous small balls, and finally grabbed one at random.
She carefully unscrewed the ball, took out the note inside, and deliberately placed the number facing herself.
The number on the paper inside the ball was "9".
"Perfect." Victor snapped his fingers gracefully, his emerald eyes suddenly locking onto Xia Lili's gaze. "Now, please look into my eyes."
Those green eyes were like deep pools under the spotlight, with the pupils slightly contracted, reflecting Xia Lili's surprised expression.
Victor's gaze seemed to penetrate the soul. His slender fingers tapped lightly on the microphone, making a regular sound in the silent theater.
Three seconds later, he suddenly smiled and said, "It's the number 9, right?"
There was unquestionable certainty in his voice.
Xia Lili's pupils trembled slightly, and she subconsciously clenched the note.
In the close-up shot of the camera moving forward, she slowly unfolded the note - it was the number "9".
"Let's see," Victor turned to face the audience, his tuxedo drawing a graceful arc, "Where is tonight's lucky winner number 9? Please stand up and accept the applause of the audience!"
The guest sitting in the chair on the left of table 4 suddenly burst into a scream of surprise, "Oh my God, it's me! I'm chosen!"
The customer was a little overweight, wearing a striped suit and an emerald ring on his hand. The words "I'm very rich" were written all over him.
He seemed to be a die-hard fan of Victor. He unbuttoned his suit to show the T-shirt with Victor's paintings printed on it. He raised his hand and shouted: "Victor, I'm here!"
"I've been a fan of yours for 20 years, and you're finally performing in Dragon Country!"
Xia Lili noticed that Victor was slightly stunned when he saw this die-hard fan, and seemed very surprised.
After a moment, Victor smiled. "Welcome! Come on, let's work together to perform our third magic show!"
