Chapter 186 A temporary passenger
"No, I refuse!" Xia Lili shook her head like a rattle, staring at Pei Qinyue warily. "The last time I met you, we encountered a poisoning incident. This time, I'm flying on your plane. Who knows if something weird will happen again."
Pei Qinyue leisurely flipped through the weather forecast on his phone: "The weather has been changeable these past few days, and civil aviation flights are prone to delays."
He raised his eyes to look at Xia Lili, "Are you sure you want to wait at the airport?"
"My private jet is always on standby," Pei Qinyue waved his phone. "The flight route application has been approved."
Xia Lili was speechless for a moment—this statement really hit a nerve with her. After all, no one wanted to waste so much time at the airport. She curled her lips, and her heart began to waver.
She could predict the safety of Pei Qinyue's private plane, but she could not predict small things like delays in civil airliners.
At this time, Xia Xubai came back from the bathroom and heard someone talking to Xia Lili: "Lili, who did you meet?"
Pei Qinyue smiled and said, "Mr. Xia, I am Pei Qinyue from the Pei Group."
Xia Xubai's face showed understanding, and he nodded in the direction of Pei Qinyue: "Mr. Pei."
"Thank you for the costumes provided by the Pei Group." The Pei Group promised to provide Xia Xubai with a logistics team, fashion resources and performance makeup. All the configurations were top-notch. Although Xia Xubai had not communicated much with the Pei family, he felt the sincerity of the Pei family.
"It's my duty. Don't be polite to me." Pei Qinyue glanced at his watch and said, "I have to meet with a client. I'll excuse myself first."
"I have shares in this restaurant. You can order whatever you want and put it on my account."
As Pei Qinyue left, he said to Xia Lili, "Think about it. If you've made up your mind, feel free to contact me and I'll send someone to pick you up."
Xia Lili made an OK gesture.
Xia Xubai asked calmly, "Lili, are you familiar with Mr. Pei?"
"Actually, we're not that familiar with each other." Xia Lili scratched his head.
She and Pei Qinyue didn't contact each other often, but this guy would send her boxes of clothes and jewelry. She tried to dissuade him but failed and had no way to change her residence.
Thinking that these things were just casual orders for Pei Qinyue, Xia Lili just followed his lead.
Xia Xubai listened to his sister's calm tone when she talked about Pei Qinyue, and his originally slightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed.
"Brother, I'm leaving. Take care of yourself." Xia Lili warned him worriedly.
"I already have three or four assistants now," Xia Xubai laughed. "But you..."
His voice suddenly grew serious. "You have to be extra careful when working with the police, okay?"
"I know! I can protect myself now!" Xia Lili waved his fist vigorously. Ever since he punished Professor Mo with his strength yesterday, Xia Lili has become more and more satisfied with his training results.
"I'm very strong now. Do you believe I can lift you up?"
Xia Xubai quickly took a half step back, chair and all, feeling both amused and helpless. He was truly afraid that his foolish sister would lift him up in public: "Stop it!"
Two days later at ten o'clock in the morning, Haicheng Airport.
It was Xia Lili's first time to take a private plane.
This is a compact and exquisite small aircraft with four ivory-row leather seats scattered throughout the cabin. There is also a small bar at the end of the aircraft, which displays a coffee machine and wine bottles.
Pei Qinyue was wearing a dark blue loose sweater today, with a pair of sunglasses casually hanging on the collar, and his whole body exuded a lazy and noble air.
He leaned against the cabin door and asked with a smile, "Miss Benefactor, do you like this environment?"
Xia Lili looked around and nodded with a mature air, "It's okay. Wait, in two years my private jet will definitely be more impressive than yours."
"Then I'm really looking forward to it." Pei Qinyue's peach blossom eyes curved into crescents. "Maybe I can get on your private plane soon."
"Thank you for your good wishes!" Xia Lili raised her chin.
Pei Qinyue glanced at his watch and explained, "There's another passenger coming on board later. He's a doctor friend of mine."
"He has an important operation to perform in Yangcheng at 3:30 pm." He paused. "You wouldn't mind if there were more people?"
"Of course I don't mind!" Xia Lili blurted out. To be honest, she felt more comfortable being around other people than being alone with Pei Qinyue, the socialite.
About five minutes later, steady footsteps were heard on the gangway.
A tall man, who looked to be in his early thirties, walked into the cabin.
He wore a pair of titanium-framed glasses, his eyes serene and watery, and he exuded a reserved and intelligent demeanor. Despite his youth, he exuded a trustworthy authority.
The man was visibly startled when he saw Xia Lili, his eyes widening slightly behind his glasses: "Qin Yue, who is this?"
"Let me introduce you," Pei Qinyue said, smiling as he walked between the two of them. "This is my savior, Xia Lili. At Old Lady Bai's birthday party last time, it was thanks to her that she discovered in time that someone was trying to poison me."
"It's you," the man suddenly realized. He then extended his hand and said in a gentle, powerful voice, "Nice to meet you. I'm Fei Shuyun from the Department of Neurosurgery at Haicheng First Hospital."
Xia Lili extended her hand back and shook it: "Hello, Doctor Fei."
Now out of habit, Xia Lili would stare into the eyes of strangers for a while when she met them.
Xia Lili and Fei Shuyun looked at each other and found that nothing unusual had happened. Xia Lili breathed a sigh of relief and confirmed that the voyage was safe.
Inside the cabin, all passengers are in their seats and the plane is waiting for the tower to give the take-off order.
Pei Qinyue's assistant walked over with a brisk pace, bowed slightly and asked, "Would you three like to have something to drink?"
"I want sparkling water!" Xia Lili's eyes lit up and she raised her hand impatiently.
Pei Qinyue chuckled at the words, and tapped his slender fingers on the armrest of the chair: "Only children drink beverages." Turning to the assistant, he said: "Make me a glass of tequila." He then looked at Fei Shuyun, raised an eyebrow and asked: "Shuyun, do you want a glass too?"
Fei Shuyun pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose and smiled gently: "No need to drink today, mineral water is fine. I have surgery in the afternoon, so I need to stay awake."
"Oh, I almost forgot." Pei Qinyue suddenly realized and winked at his assistant, "Then let's do as Dr. Fei asks."
After a while, the assistant returned with an exquisite tray.
Pei Qinyue raised his wine glass and looked at Fei Shuyun: "I heard that the patient you are operating on this time is a heavyweight?"
Fei Shuyun nodded. "Yes, he's a 68-year-old handwriting identification expert. I'm going to perform brain tumor removal on him."
When Xia Lili heard the identity of the patient, her eyes lit up: "Handwriting identification expert?"
"I heard that there's a very good handwriting identification expert in the Southeast Provincial Police, Professor Qiao Jiaying."
Handwriting experts are like "handwriting detectives," specializing in analyzing handwriting to identify authenticity and identify the writer. Their work is a bit like solving crimes through fingerprints, except they study each person's unique handwriting habits.
