Internal testing

Internal testing

Lu Yushi stopped there, took the leather file bag from the stand-up pouch, and slowly opened it.

The stack of documents, about half a finger thick, was laid out unguarded in front of Gu Nan.

With the laptop partially obstructing her view, Gu Nan tilted her head to make out the remaining words.

—New CPU beta version.

Puzzled, she read on, word by word, until her gaze was drawn to the small German print on the title page. Her eyes narrowed suddenly, but she quickly suppressed her suspicions without making a sound.

"This is?"

Lu Yushi pushed the documents towards her, gesturing for her to look at them.

Gu Nan clicked her tongue inwardly and pretended to turn the page.

A sense of familiarity washes over me.

Her expression changed repeatedly, fearing that Lu Yushi would notice something amiss. Her deeply furrowed brows dared not linger for long, and after three to five minutes, she chose a suitable moment to raise her eyes.

Lu Yushi's gaze fell on the code on the last page, and the pen tip made a "rustling" sound as it rubbed against the paper.

Perhaps the voice was too soft to pull the person back to reality from their reverie; long eyelashes cast shadows under the drooping eyelids, and there were slight signs of movement.

Gu Nan secretly admired him.

Putting aside his aloofness, Lu Yushi's focused and serious demeanor actually made him more approachable, and his fluent and pleasant German was no less impressive than his mother tongue.

The clear and magnetic voice entered my ears, like fallen petals drifting on the water, making my thoughts wander and causing me to lose myself in thought for a moment.

An unfocused gaze suddenly met the depths of dark eyes.

"Cough cough."

Gu Nan unconsciously raised her hand to touch the tip of her nose, and casually tucked a stray hair behind her ear, explaining, "I don't understand German."

The scrutinizing gaze took root in her face, and the air suddenly felt thin.

Half a minute of silence.

Just a second before Gu Nan was about to surrender, Lu Yushi lowered his head, the probing in his eyes seemingly never having existed. Translated into Chinese: "Ensuring that on the basis of the 14th generation performance, large-scale matrix operations are added, and data processing efficiency is improved by 331%."

His tone was clear and pleasant, and his explanation was patient.

Gu Nan's expression wavered again for a moment.

His five fingers, hanging under the table, tightened, and after two breaths, he found an excuse.

It's all because of the bright sunlight outside the window. Although we are both bathed in sunlight, it only shines on Lu Yushi, highlighting his handsome profile. The light also softens his strong facial features and diminishes the lingering repression and indifference on his face.

The few things about Lu Yushi that she disliked were all dispelled by the sunlight.

“The upper limit is there. The computational requirements of deep learning can be completely replaced by GPUs or TPUs. As for the processing speed issue… cough cough,” Gu Nan shut up in time, biting her lower lip to force herself to stay awake.

That face was indeed a masterpiece, but she wasn't so beautiful that she would lose her mind.

He asked knowingly, "Is this a new achievement from Lu's lab? It's not appropriate for me to see it."

Lu Yushi paused, glancing at her: "The Shen family sent these as an apology."

“Shen Jiazhen…” Their eyes met, and Gu Nan lowered her voice, “She’s sincere.”

Bullshit.

Silently complete the sentence in your mind.

Every word and every punctuation mark on the document was written by her.

"What do you think?" His dark eyes were serious, and the aura he unconsciously exuded when he spoke about serious matters was terrifying.

Gu Nan only glanced at him once before quickly looking away, as if if she looked at him for even a second longer, he would notice something amiss.

She pretended the sunlight was too bright and raised her hand to shield her eyes from the light.

He deliberately ignored the suddenly oppressive aura from the other side, unsure whether it was Lu Yushi's usual work routine or just a test.

My fingers unconsciously rubbed against the paper, my brain racing.

Jin Yan said that Walbus plans to enter the North City, and it seems that they have already begun to take action.

She wasn't sure if Old Val's cooperation with the Shen family was detrimental to Lu Yushi, or if Lu Yushi had already contacted Old Val to help him test her.

Before Lu Yushi could speak, she couldn't lose her composure. She secretly adjusted her breathing, raised her hand to brush away the stray hairs from her forehead, and tried her best to make every movement and expression look calm and ordinary.

Even the shadows cast by the fluttering eyelashes are kept within a safe and error-free range.

Unexpectedly, it seems she was overthinking things.

Lu Yushi's attention was not on the documents. His gaze shifted away first, clearly indicating a desire to avoid them. His usually resolute eyes softened, and he was somewhat lost in thought, a rare sight indeed.

Besides, her tight lips and stiff fingers were proof to Gu Nan that she hadn't misjudged.

Before he could sort out his thoughts, Lu Yushi had already regained his usual indifference.

"It's a fool not to take advantage of a good deal, so you want to use it, but you're afraid they'll plant malware in it. It's a small matter if it hinders your progress, but you're worried that they'll steal information and damage the system."

After finishing her statement in one breath, Gu Nan sniffed and muttered to herself that it was all an overreaction; this beta test was not even as good as the 14th generation.

Walbus's server room was messy and disorganized. She helped old Walbus improve the system's efficiency on multiple occasions, but she repeatedly ignored the problem of system heat dissipation.

This beta test was her "fireworks show" gift to Old Val, settling their three-year feud.

Unexpectedly, it fell into Lu Yushi's hands.

She had no idea what Lu Yushi's purpose was in showing it to her.

Her eyes darted around. She braced herself against the edge of the table with one hand and pressed the document cover with the other, leaning her body forward. Her cunning eyes sparkled as she drawled, "I can check if this version works for you, but how will you thank me?"

The movement was too large, and the daisy pendant peeked out from the collar, swaying from side to side in the sunlight, the small diamonds on the pendant sparkling with tiny light.

Lu Yushi lowered his gaze, his eyes showing genuine appreciation. A ripple of emotion rose from his heart to his throat, and he remained silent for a moment.

My rationality was largely swayed by the daisies.

If Gu Nan has ulterior motives, he has no chance of succeeding with this honey trap.

"Young Master Lu?"

The sudden call pulled him back to reality. His eyes narrowed, his Adam's apple bobbed, and his usually calm tone carried a meaning he himself couldn't quite discern: "You can't be my girlfriend?"

Even close brothers keep clear accounts. What's a girlfriend anyway? Who knows, you might not want to be with me anymore one day.

Lu Yushi lightly tapped the table: "What else do you want?"

Gu Nan tilted her head and leaned closer to him, asking, "Would it seem like I'm pushing my luck if I asked for more?"

Lu Yushi's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and the corners of his lips curved into an almost imperceptible smile. Instead of retreating as she approached, he moved forward half an inch, his warm breath brushing against her cheek.

What do you think?

Before she could react, he added, "Go ahead and say it."

"Huh?" Gu Nan was surprised by how quickly Lu Yushi's attitude changed and immediately became alert.

"I won't agree. You'll just make up another story for me another day."

The tapping sound on the table suddenly stopped, and with a "snap," Gu Nan stood up and took the pen with her.

The pen rolled once in mid-air before crashing heavily to the floor. Ignoring whether the pen was alive or dead, she stared at Lu Yushi, trying to discern any signs of being controlled by a ghost.

This is not her fault. If you just walked out of the office and pulled someone in from outside, they would never have seen Lu Yu's expression like that. It was a mixture of helplessness, indulgence, and other complex emotions that she couldn't describe.

Standing still, he racked his brains for words, and after a long while, he found the word "pampering".

Shocked, he retreated repeatedly.

She and Lu Yushi must have gone mad; if nothing unexpected happens, that person is her.

The interjection stuck in her throat as she stared at Lu Yushi as if he were a monster.

"Did you take the wrong medicine?"

...

She watched helplessly as the rare moments of joy on Lu Yushi's face vanished, leaving his profile tense.

I felt a little more at ease.

He made up a story: "I'm afraid you don't consider me one of your own. If you cooperate with others to harm me, I'll be caught in the middle and it won't be pleasant."

She stared intently at Lu Yushi's expression.

Those eyes were calm and still, like a deep pool, without any anger at having their thoughts exposed. Gu Nan secretly guessed that since Old Val hadn't joined forces with Lu Yushi, he must have turned to the Shen family.

She shook her head with a "tsk tsk," realizing that she and Lu Yushi were now truly in the same boat.

Outsiders cannot enter my office.

"Oh." Gu Nan swiped her phone and texted Jin Yan to arrange a meeting later. "I'll take some time to check you out. Is there anything else?"

Lu Yushi tapped the table, attracting her to look up: "Speaking of cooperation, I suddenly remembered that half a month ago Miss Gu promised to help me find the person who attacked the system. Have you made any progress?"

Gu Nan: ...

I really want to slap myself.

She spouted nonsense: "She said she was blind and offended you rashly. She asked you to be lenient and forgive her. She said she would be very grateful and would burn incense for you every day, wishing you good health and all the best. She would bless you while she was alive and protect you after she died, and would never dare to be presumptuous in front of you again."

Gu Nan glanced at Lu Yu's expression and said, "Anyway, she didn't cause any real damage to the company, so why don't we just let it go this time?"

Seeing Lu Yu deep in thought, Gu Nan pressed her advantage, saying, "The more friends you have, the fewer enemies you have. Don't be so petty; maybe we can even cooperate in the future."

As soon as he finished speaking, Lu Yushi still didn't respond.

She pressed on: "As far as I know, no one can crack the encryption system of Xingzi Tower; it's all thanks to her."

Gu Nan boasted without any qualms: "Offending her is equivalent to giving up your own protection. Think about it, she can easily enter the Lu Group's internal system. If you anger her, she might fight to the death, and you'll be the one who gets hurt in the end, Young Master Lu!"

"Think about it more carefully, really think about it. There's no need to make enemies with her."

She spoke until her throat was dry, and finally, a change appeared on Lu Yushi's calm face.

She lifted her eyelids and smiled as she waited expectantly for Lu Yu.

How do you know she didn't cause any real harm to the company?

...

"She hurt him?"

Lu Yushi nodded.

Gu Nan clenched her fist. How could this person spout such nonsense with such a straight face? She hadn't even said five sentences since entering the system, so what harm had she done?

"Then what do you want?" He crossed his arms in front of his chest and looked down at Lu Yushi, who refused to back down.

The air was still, and Lu Yushi slowly stood up, walked around the desk and approached step by step, lowered his head, and smiled as he said, "Since my girlfriend thinks it shouldn't be pursued, then let it go."

Gu Nan looked up at the man so close to her, her defensive posture gradually relaxing. Her throat itched, and she swallowed. "What's going on here?"

Lu Yushi's gaze swept over her entire body, then suddenly raised his hand and rushed towards her. Gu Nan was startled and quickly dodged, but Lu Yushi's right hand landed squarely on the file folder, and he weighed it in his hand with a half-smile: "Hmm?"

Gu Nan gritted her teeth, looked at the file folder, covered her face as she took it, turned and walked towards the door, her steps unsteady.

Embarrassing.

Even more embarrassing was that she regretted it the moment she dodged.

"Mr. Jin isn't too busy lately. Do you have time to go to the computer room with him and give it a try?"

"good."

She reached for the door, but Lu Yushi was one step ahead and pressed down on the door frame. She looked up in confusion, and Lu Yushi gave a forced smile: "Aren't you going to ask me for Engineer Jin's contact information?"
