"Of course I should apologize to her." Gu Nan said matter-of-factly, but her eyes instinctively darted away.

Lu Yushi approached, looking directly into her eyes: "She used my fiancée's name to deceive and swindle people. Should I apologize to her?"

The sharp gaze gave Gu Nan the illusion that the person making Lu Yushi grit his teeth was her, not the non-existent fiancée.

Feeling guilty, she moved back a little, pressing her palm against his hard forearm, creating a fragile defense for herself: "You scared her, you should apologize to her."

That defensive line was only a psychological effect on her; it was completely useless against Lu Yushi.

Lu Yushi effortlessly tore aside the only obstacle in his path, reaching the bottom of her eyes: "When she used my name to deceive people, didn't she ever think about being scared?"

Their breaths mingled, the air spraying onto their faces. Gu Nan awkwardly tried to pull her hand back, but failed the first time. The second time, her hand was held even tighter. Not wanting to upset Lu Yushi over an old matter at this crucial moment, she wisely gave up.

"There must be a reason." The tone of the attempt to explain sounded weak and unconvincing.

Lu Yushi's face remained expressionless: "So certain?"

The atmosphere grew increasingly tense, and Gu Nan decided to put the topic aside for the time being. She couldn't help but feel more worried about her future. Five years had passed, and Lu Yushi still held such a grudge against her. Just thinking about it made her want to grind her teeth. She was afraid that he would grind her to dust in the future.

"Then what are you going to do?" I asked, forcing myself to be brave.

After waiting for a while without receiving a reply from Lu Yushi, she turned her head in confusion. Lu Yushi stared at her without saying a word, his dark eyes as deep and unfathomable as a cold pool, with some unknown emotion flickering in them.

Gu Nan quickly looked away, her eyes showing a hint of panic. Was this guy imagining the Ten Great Tortures of the Qing Dynasty?

Feeling a chill, she stepped back. The older sister, acting like a caring older sister, took Lu Yushi's hands, patted them affectionately, and solemnly tried to persuade him: "Let me tell you, the worst thing about insomnia is having impure thoughts. Your insomnia hasn't completely healed yet, so you'd better do more good deeds."

"Visiting your ex-boyfriend's grave doesn't count as doing a good deed?"

Gu Nan looked pale and said awkwardly, "Yes, it is, but... you shouldn't always be thinking about causing trouble for her. It's been five years. Can't time heal all wounds?"

She saw two words in Lu Yushi's eyes: no.

He immediately changed his tune, becoming a sycophant: "Yes, of course not."

At worst, she'd take her revenge and then immediately run away, without stopping. She wasn't caught by Lu Yushi five years ago; could she possibly be any less capable now?

The most urgent task is to calm her down and persuade Lu Yushi to help her save Ji Yuanyu.

She took a deep breath, looked up, and nuzzled Lu Yushi's arm in a fawning manner, saying in line with his expression, "I understand you. It's true, no one feels good when they're being schemed against. It's okay, I'm here for you, no one can scheme against you anymore."

He silently added in his heart, "It's enough for me to scheme against you myself."

After speaking, he stared intently at Lu Yushi's reaction.

Lu Yushi's expression was somewhat strange. It wasn't exactly ugly, but perhaps his good looks made up for his dark complexion.

It wasn't quite the gratitude I expected; it felt like swallowing a fly with nowhere to spit it out—it just wasn't a pleasant experience.

Gu Nan was immediately displeased, after all, she had indeed approached Meng Qing not long ago and told her not to touch Lu Yushi. Regardless of the real purpose, Lu Yushi was at least a beneficiary for now.

"Aren't you going to thank me?" she said, half-jokingly and half-seriously.

Lu Yushi: "..."

"That's rude." She immediately changed her tone, adopting a sweet and obedient expression, and grabbed his arm to flatter him, "But I don't mind, because I like you."

The sweet voice added a touch of pathos.

From his expression to his movements, his entire being screams those four words.

I'm going all in.

She feigned stretching, lazily extending her arm, tilting her neck slightly, intentionally or unintentionally turning her face towards Lu Yushi. All her movements were fluid, comfortable, and natural, but her peripheral vision was fixed on Lu Yushi's well-defined profile. Seizing the opportunity, she suddenly tilted her waist and brushed her lips against Lu Yushi's cheek.

With perfect timing, Gu Nan's lips curled into a smile, but before the smile could fully bloom, in a flash, Lu Yushi suddenly turned around. Gu Nan had no chance to react; the kiss lightly brushed against Lu Yushi's cheek and lips. His pupils contracted sharply, and he instinctively opened his mouth, giving Lu Yushi the opportunity to "ram into" him.

"Huh?" The exclamation was swallowed back down.

Lu Yushi's breathing was heavy, and his warm breath tickled her neck, making her shrink back. She braced herself against Lu Yushi's shoulder and turned her head to one side, saying, "No."

After a while, he calmed his breathing and looked up. Lu Yushi's eyes were dark, as if he was still not satisfied.

"Why did you suddenly rush over here?" Gu Nan licked her lips, unsure whether her displeasure stemmed from his sudden closeness disrupting her plans or from his intensified, out-of-control kiss that stirred up the turbulent emotions within her.

Silence enveloped the two, revealing their deliberately suppressed, unsteady breathing.

After a long silence, Lu Yushi asked, "You're unwilling?"

Gu Nan gritted her teeth and squeezed out two words: "I'm willing."

Does she dare say she doesn't want to?

Tomorrow, Ji Yuanyu might be devoured alive by Master Wan.

Even if you're not happy, you have to force a smile.

Feeling uneasy, Lu Yushi seemed unusually difficult to talk to today.

Outside the window, the twilight deepened.

After eating and finishing work, it's obvious what to do next.

If she can't even talk to Ji Yuanyu, then why did she come all this way just to be forcibly kissed?

Now there's no way out. In order not to suffer any losses, I had to grit my teeth and force the issue, awkwardly trying to change the subject: "Are we together just for eating? Of course not. We can talk about our respective living environments so that we can get to know each other better and it will be more beneficial to our future life together. Sun Qian said that the most important thing in a relationship is honesty."

Fearing that Lu Yushi would interrupt and refute her, Gu Nan spoke without holding back: "I'll go first."

Lu Yushi chuckled, his worries written all over his face.

A maid interrupted, "Young Master Lu, the bedroom is ready."

Lu Yushi nodded, his eyes indicating that the servants could go back to rest. A smile gradually spread across his lips, his expression intriguing, but his tone betrayed no hint of mockery. His gaze returned to Gu Nan's face: "Go and rest?"

Gu Nan only wanted the person in front of her to sleep forever.

If she hadn't needed his help, Gu Nan said she would never have suffered such humiliation, and her voice involuntarily rose: "Are you even listening to me?"

Lu Yushi raised his wrist to check the time, his eyes fixed straight ahead: "Speak."

His absent-minded look suggested he had no interest in what she was saying.

Gu Nan immediately made a decision that went against the wishes of her ancestors.

She refused to believe that Lu Yushi could remain so calm once they were in bed.

He said, slowly and deliberately, "I don't stay in guest rooms."

Lu Yushi glanced at her sideways, his eyes as calm as an old monk meditating in Xingyin Temple, and slowly dialed his phone to send a message to the driver: "Take Miss Gu home."

He didn't even glance at her a second time.

Gu Nan burst out laughing, a laugh born of anger.

Was she being too tactful, or was Lu Yushi too naive, unable to understand this at all?

She wouldn't mind helping Lu Yushi reinforce his understanding: "I'm going to fucking sleep with you! Understand?"

It exploded with a resounding thud in the quiet room.

The lingering sound resonated around the beam.

It took a full half minute before Lu Yushi looked up, but it was as if his ears had suddenly left home, and he didn't react to her bold words at all, even nodding slightly.

Gu Nan: ?

I said, I want to sleep with you.

Lu Yushi's reaction was even calmer than hers, and he asked in return, "Are you sure?"

"What's so uncertain about this?" For a moment, Gu Nan wondered if Lu Yushi was a different person inside. He seemed very unresponsive tonight. Wouldn't he be killed by his business rivals if he acted like this?

The next second, Lu Yushi gave his answer.

“Chenyue has a relatively high security level, especially the house in Beicheng,” Lu Yushi’s gaze swept over her and landed on the window. His tone was very calm, and not a single word he spoke was emphasized. He had a half-smile on his face. “If anyone is out at night, they have the right to arrest them.”

This prompted her to recall the end of that dinner party.

She took off her clothes, took a shower, and then ran away.

The implication is that this time, she won't have a chance to escape.

Gu Nan swallowed hard. Lu Yushi's stinginess had reached a new high. So what if he didn't get to eat? Was it really that big of a deal?

"Not today."

She can't run away before the matter is settled.

She'd better think twice before running away from Ji Yuanyu.

The thought of Ji Yuanyu gave her an even bigger headache. If Ji Yuanyu didn't kowtow to her three times, he would be letting her down for "selling herself" to beg for help.

He forced himself to continue, his eyes darting around: "Last time... the angle... the angle problem."

Maybe it will be small today.

His words were hesitant and disjointed, and it took Lu Yushi a while to process them before his gaze became complicated.

Shock, doubt, bewilderment, speechlessness.

My mind is full of all sorts of random things.

Gu Nan finally saw a clear change in his expression. Although he had already strode back to his room, she felt it was necessary to continue rushing, so she tiptoed behind him into the room.

Meeting Lu Yushi's fixed gaze, Gu Nan slapped herself onto the bed and used her acting skills: "Oh, dizzy," she said, glancing up to see Lu Yushi still looking at her. She continued, rubbing her forehead, "A little sleepy, goodnight."

He casually pulled the blanket down to cover his face.

The room was deathly silent.

Lu Yushi stared for a while, then took two steps to the bedside, raised his hand to lower the thin blanket, and Gu Nan peeked out from under the blanket, staring at him without blinking.

Her bright eyes were cleaner than moonlight and brighter than lamplight. Beneath her intelligent aura lay a cunning scheme, yet she was so beautiful that it was impossible to look away.

Like a rose in a thicket of thorns, knowing that picking it will prick your arm, you still gladly endure the pain of its bloom.

Lu Yushi's breathing became heavy as he leaned in.

Gu Nan rolled to the side, and the two arms became entangled, it was unclear for a moment who had restrained whom.

She was the one who seduced him first, yet she kept backing away, but she wasn't willing to back down completely, leaving Lu Yushi with a sliver of hope that he could succeed.

She laughed inwardly, "Am I stupid enough to let you succeed every time?"

Seeing that there was no way to retreat, she took the initiative to step forward, wrapping her arm around Lu Yushi's lower back to close the distance between them, her tone ambiguous: "Want to have a heart-to-heart talk?"
