Chapter 135: Ending and the Little People (1)
The sun slanted low in the distant valley, its intense crimson hue barely illuminating the ground or the river beneath the willows. Arriving near Wuqiu, Luo Xuanyi found a deserted spot to contact Hao Fei, sending them both into the river and transporting them to the ferry crossing at Fuji Town.
Due to the obstruction of the mountains, Fu Ji Town fell into darkness early. The streets were brightly lit, but when you crossed the dense forest and arrived at the ferry, there was only a lantern.
The lantern rested on the ground, illuminating the feet of two men. One sat on a rock, his trouser legs rolled up, drinking silently, his wine dripping down the moss on the side of the boulder; the other gazed at the willow river with a look of sorrow on his face, sighing from time to time.
The silhouettes of Yumi and Yucheng changed from color to black, and the other fishermen had already gone together to participate in the bell-ringing ceremony.
After a long silence, Yu Cheng finally spoke with difficulty: "Will they come back?"
The boat was Mr. Wang's property. Although Mr. Wang was kind and didn't care about it, that wasn't a reason for him to let it go. After all, he and his sister Yumi were both from the underworld, and they valued righteousness.
The righteous path does not directly control the mortal realm, so alongside the mortal dynasties, there exists the Jianghu (Martial Arts World). These so-called Jianghu individuals are those who, through chance, receive guidance from immortals but lack the ability to ascend to immortality. At best, they cultivate external skills, reaching the Qi training stage, known as internal strength. They then record their experiences, compile them into books, and pass them on to others, thus forming sects.
But few people know that the martial arts sects actually serve the royal family.
Yu Mi and Yu Cheng come from aristocratic martial arts families. Originally trained by the sect leader, Yu Mi has mastered some 80% of the martial arts, but unwilling to lose her freedom, she decides to venture out on her own. Her brother, Yu Cheng, isn't as skilled, but due to factional strife, he's forced to take the position of sect leader, so he chooses to follow his sister.
But I didn't expect to encounter a natural disaster.
Over the years, their ideas had changed, but they had no place to realize their ambitions for the time being, so they lived in a daze in Fu Ji Town, making a living as fishermen.
"Mr. Wang is a good man. Before coming here, we haven't had such a relaxing life for a long time, right?" Yu Cheng sighed.
"Well, you don't have to be chased by others all the time." Yumi shook the empty wine bag and said casually, "Brother, your Qinggong is really bad."
"Isn't it because you always like to provoke others?" Thinking back to his time in the underworld, Yu Cheng suddenly felt a headache. Yu Mi was a man of great loyalty, and in fact, he was also a man of loyalty, but he didn't like to admit it because he didn't have the capital to help like Yu Mi did.
He readily accepted that Yumi was better than him, though, and would often boast about his sister, only to be beaten up by Yumi. After all, his dream wasn't a big deal: just being a teahouse cashier, making a living with a little wine and a little abacus. At worst, he could just be a fisherman, like he was now, watching the annual bell ringing as familiar and unfamiliar people caught yellow croaker, beaming with joy.
Yu Mi's tone was unusually serious. She looked at Yu Cheng and said, "Seriously, can we stay here any longer?"
"Of course, I'm not saying we should run away. If the ship doesn't come back, we'll dig up the box of gold we buried back then and return it to Mr. Wang as an apology. What I'm thinking is, when have we ever been so nervous about a ship?"
That's true, there have been times when we were on the brink of death. But Yu Cheng still wanted to say, "That's you. You're always so carefree and not afraid at all. You kill people and don't even bury them, just sleep in a tree. I'm always scared to death."
Yu Cheng actually knew what Yu Mi wanted to say, after all, they were blood-related siblings. But he could only laugh it off and pretend not to know.
Yu Mi had obviously noticed his attitude and stopped talking. But Yu Cheng knew from the look in her eyes that she would never let things get by.
"Brother, look." Yu Mi narrowed her eyes for a moment. Yu Cheng followed her gaze and saw two huge creatures, one in front and one behind, swimming slowly and unsteadily into the shadow of the mountain. He was delighted, and the heavy weight in his heart suddenly dropped. Even his steps became lighter.
The boat docked, and a woman disembarked. She vaguely resembled the departing nun's blue dress. Yu Cheng picked up the lantern and approached with Yu Mi. Before even seeing her face, he clasped his fists and bowed, "Master, please return the boat. I, Yu Cheng, will be grateful!"
"There's no need to do that. I just did it for the convenience of my convenience." The female cultivator's voice startled him. He couldn't help but look up and take a closer look, only to find that it was not Qu Qitao but Luo Xuanyi. For some reason, Luo Xuanyi was wearing Qu Qitao's clothes.
Just as he was stunned, Yu Mi said, "No matter what, it's a small matter for the Immortal Master, but it's still important to us. If the Immortal Master needs anything, please feel free to send us."
"But, didn't the other immortal masters come back?"
Luo Xuanyi automatically ignored the previous part of the conversation after hearing this. After all, she had no real interest in these two people. She herself didn't know why she had taken the boat back. "They completed their mission, captured the demon, and are now reporting back. I'm coming back to guard Fuji Town for a while. I'll leave once I'm sure everything is clear."
So that's how it is. Yu Cheng thanked him again, but Luo Xuanyi waved her hand, saying she had something else to attend to, and flew back to the palace.
"...I'll go tie up the boat, and then we can go to the bell ceremony together later, shall we?" Seeing Luo Xuanyi disappear in the distance, Yu Cheng hurried back to the ship. Yu Mi glanced at his back, a hint of reluctance in her eyes, but it was quickly cut off by her determination.
"Um."
Luo Xuanyi paid no attention to the complicated thoughts of the two people behind her. After all, in her eyes, they were just insignificant people. On the way back, she recounted her experience bit by bit, feeling that there was much more to delve into. She also felt that she needed to change her clothes and get rid of them quickly. In short, there was a lot of things waiting to be dealt with. To avoid any omissions, she directly set up her escape light and landed in Wang Taiyuan's courtyard in the palace.
"Master Immortal!" Guan Xian, who was about to leave the courtyard, was startled, but he quickly calmed down and nervously stepped forward and asked quietly, "Is it done?"
"Okay." Luo Xuanyi nodded, and Guan Xian's eyes immediately lit up. Luo Xuanyi walked inside, instructing him as if she were the host, "Go prepare a few sets of clothes for me to wear. Nothing too fancy. Just send them to the courtyard where I used to live."
"Yes." Guan Xian hurried off, seemingly heading to Wang Zhanke's courtyard to announce the good news. The servants who witnessed this scene found it somewhat strange, but couldn't quite put their finger on what was strange, so they simply kept their heads down and went about their business.
