Chapter 178 Seeing Through

Chapter 178 Seeing Through

The ends of the earth are glued together to form a circular boundary.

The small Lotus City hanging upside down in the center of the sky was like the giant teeth of the false earth, slowly swallowing Luo Xuanyi.

The wound on Luo Xuanyi's throat was clogged with coagulated blood, and no more blood flowed out. The disguised skin was completely bloodless, as if it could be mistaken for real skin, which would turn pale when bleeding.

Even though he had no organs left, he felt like vomiting due to the wind pressure.

Unpredictable means and strange rules of the world.

Luo Xuanyi had the feeling that the earth above was like a semicircular cover, soft and pliable, while the objects on it were three-dimensional. Beyond those visible objects, invisible things appeared along with the false earth, tampering with the laws of the world.

However, Luo Xuanyi had lost her life force and could only observe things that could be observed with the naked eye, which was the "cover".

Starting from the wheat field, it first covers people, and after making sure that people cannot escape, it slowly collapses and fits into the earth.

And the fitting parts, just as Luo Xuanyi saw, would replace the real parts with the false parts.

No, but was it really a replacement? Luo Xuanyi wasn't sure. Maybe it was just a visual illusion, or some kind of illusion.

What is even more strange is that there is clearly no sun or sky in the space sandwiched between the two sides of the earth, but the space is still bright.

Luo Xuanyi wanted to go far away to observe the wheat fields and the sky carefully, but she soon realized that it was a waste of time.

Luo Xuanyi's body was now nothing more than a piece of human skin, stripped of its life force. Her movements were even weaker than those of an ordinary person. She had just tried to stand up when a gust of wind pressure pushed her back to the ground.

Movement was difficult, and the inverted Little Lotus City was pressing down at an unusually fast speed. Luo Xuanyi raised her head with difficulty to examine it, and could almost clearly see the moss on the floor tiles inside the fake Little Lotus City.

The highest point between the two cities has begun to touch.

Since she couldn't stand up, Luo Xuanyi chose a comfortable lying position, looking up at the city wall.

Originally, the tallest building in Xiaohe City was the bridge pavilion on the surface of Dangyun Lake. Due to the battle between Luo Xuanyi and Lian Qing, the pavilion was destroyed. Therefore, even though the pavilion of the fake Xiaohe City should have touched the original pavilion according to its original position, it actually did not touch it, and the fake pavilion was not replaced with the original pavilion.

The gatehouse on the Xiaohe City wall was now in contact, with the original gatehouse's raised left eaves being the first to come into contact. Xiaohe City's buildings often had symmetrical, slender, and tall, light green eaves, but the right side of the original gatehouse's eaves had been completely destroyed by the aftermath of Luo Xuanyi's attack.

Of course, both sides of the fake city eaves are intact.

But after the eaves of the two gatehouses were completely in contact with each other, Luo Xuanyi discovered that the intact left eaves of the original gatehouse seemed to ignore the fake eaves and directly penetrated the structure of the fake eaves, as if it was not affected at all.

The destroyed cornice on the right side was replaced with the right cornice on the false gatehouse, restoring its original state before Luo Xuanyi's destruction. The false cornice now appears to have been destroyed.

So, contact is necessary? Luo Xuanyi observed calmly.

It was like being drawn into a false painting. Since it couldn't be killed head-on, it was displaced into another world, erasing its existence in this one. This reminded Luo Xuanyi of the Tan Tai Lian School of Painting she had read about in the texts of Taoist Hua Shen.

Thinking of the heroic feat of the ancestor of painting in the classics who drew all the monks into the painting with a single stroke of his brush, from the perspective of those monks, was the oncoming painting the same as what Luo Xuanyi saw?

But Luo Xuanyi was very clear about one thing: even in seemingly hopeless situations, there must be a glimmer of hope.

The hope lies in why it took so long to capture Luo Xuanyi in the painting.

All accounts of Tan Tai Lian's life reveal that her paintings captivated the senses, captivating the very moment of their creation. With the stroke of a brush, nothing stood still; the mountains and rivers were swept away. This is why the Tan Tai Lian school of painting flourished for millennia, right up until Tan Tai Lian's death.

Therefore, if it was really a painting attack, Luo Xuanyi would have been dead from the moment the sky was covered with falsehood.

After Tan Tai Lian's death, most of his followers died out, and within a century, Tan Tai Lian's painting was lost to the world. Since then, no pure Tan Tai Lian painting has appeared. Later generations, through studying and observing Tan Tai Lian's surviving paintings, can only fuse the mysteries of painting with other ways.

Integrating the mysteries of the Dao of Painting into one's own Dao was naturally intended to enhance one's own strength. The Dao of Painting's power and dominance could well compensate for the lack of offensive power in many Daoist schools.

However, the integration of Taos is not so easy.

The Way of Man is instinctive. Learning a Way means abandoning human limitations, pursuing an absolute truth, and thus transcending human weakness. To achieve success in this Way, one must be completely focused and never question its truth.

However, the truths between different paths often conflict with each other.

This is strange, as all paths should ultimately lead to the single, Heavenly Truth, and should all converge. Yet, throughout history, the sages who founded Taoist sects and comprehended the truth have invariably claimed that their own path is the absolute truth, and that all others are false paths that lead to error.

Therefore, if one attempts to learn two Daoist schools simultaneously, one is effectively fighting one against the other, as a Dao cannot be both true and false. Even if one merely grasps the subtleties of one Dao and integrates them into the other, intense conflict will result. In serious cases, it can even shake the foundation of one's cultivation.

Of course, Luo Xuanyi herself had become a Gui, and learning the Dao of Formations was just like learning the Dao of Formations for a human. One was the Dao of Innate Talent, while the other was the Dao of Breakthrough, and the two did not conflict.

The fusion of two conflicting breakthrough methods can never be perfect. While being powerful, it will also leave flaws.

So, while it might seem that Luo Xuanyi has been stripped of her life energy, assimilated into the world's ordinary, vulnerable state, this is more like a form of intimidation, a prelude to the oncoming attack. The creator of the scroll hoped that Luo Xuanyi, despairingly lifeless, would rob her of her will to live, thus enabling the true attack.

Luo Xuanyi never gave up hope. After some thought, her eyes lit up.

Cuckoo
