Chapter 118 Deep Love

Chapter 118 Deep Love

Ji Shu suppressed her unease and ultimately did not ask any further questions. She simply said softly, "Lord Marquis has not had a proper rest for quite some time. Please rest after you have washed up."

After she finished speaking, she stared at him intently. He lowered his eyes and drank several cups of tea. When he turned his head, he saw her staring at him like that.

He couldn't help but laugh and said, "What's wrong? I was only gone for an hour, are you angry with me?"

Ji Shu seemed to wake from a dream, bit her lip before asking, "I noticed that the Marquis seemed somewhat uneasy after returning from outside. Has something serious happened outside?"

Pei Yanzhi shook his head and smiled, gently touching her cheek, unwilling to talk to her about those sordid things. "Alright, it's getting late, you need to get some rest too."

He then raised his voice and ordered outside, "Prepare water!"

Then he took Ji Shu's hand and led her to the side room, holding her hand and speaking in a low, husky voice: "Shu'er, do you want to personally help me with my washing and grooming?"

Her face immediately flushed red, she lightly spat at him, and hurriedly retreated.

After closing the door, Ji Shu fanned the heat from her face and went to the outer room to continue tending to the flower dew.

After he finished washing up, Ji Shu ordered someone to clean the room and then summoned Chunzhi to help him bathe.

The side room was filled with steam. Ji Shu was lying on the edge of the bathtub, while Chunzhi slowly poured water onto her back with a ladle.

"Zhi'er, do you think I might be overthinking it?"

Chunzhi asked, puzzled, "Why do you say that, young lady?"

"Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I felt like he looked a little off when he came home tonight. But maybe he was just tired!"

Chunzhi carefully applied the rose-scented soap to her back and gently comforted her, "The young lady is probably just too tired these days. If you, my lord, are feeling unwell, it must be because you are too worried about her."

“Lian’er has told me in detail these days that the Lord has mobilized countless people to search for the young lady.”

Ji Shu couldn't help but think of him, the same one in Chongzhou, and the same one this time, yet it was also him who had put her in danger.

A moment of silence followed.

After going to bed, Ji Shu clung tightly to his arm. Pei Yanzhi felt both pity and tenderness in his heart when he saw her like this, even as a strong wind was blowing outside.

It started to rain, so I got out of bed to close the window.

Seeing that she was already fast asleep, he gently placed her arm on the outside and tiptoed downstairs. Just as he closed the window, he heard murmurs coming from the bed.

"No, please don't come any closer, please don't come any closer..."

Pei Yanzhi quickly got into bed, pulled her into his arms, and patted her cheek: "Shu'er, wake up!"

Ji Shu woke up from her nightmare with a start and saw Pei Yanzhi looking at her anxiously. She wiped the sweat from her forehead.

What's wrong with me?

Pei Yanzhi pulled her into his arms: "You had a nightmare, but what did you dream about?"

Ji Shu's body stiffened slightly. From her angle, all she could see was his slightly bluish stubble. She raised her hand and touched the rough texture.

Mimi said, "I dreamt that a wolf was chasing me from behind. I wanted to run, but I couldn't escape. Just as it was about to eat me, you woke me up."

Pei Yanzhi patted her back and gently coaxed her, "Alright, alright, don't be afraid, it's just a dream."

Ji Shu rested her head on his arm, and no more dreams haunted her in the latter half of the night.

The next day, when Ji Shu woke up, she was surprised to find him still by her side.

At this moment, their breaths mingled, her arm resting on his chest, his usually stern eyes tightly closed, his large hands loosely embracing her waist.

This posture was far more intimate than it had been a month or so ago.

Sensing that the person beside him was breathing more erratically, Pei Yanzhi opened his eyes and looked down at her.

Her voice was still hoarse from just waking up: "Awake?"

After saying that, he turned to the side, ran his fingers through her long, loose hair, and kissed her forehead.

Ji Shu smelled his cool, refreshing scent and asked softly, "Why didn't you go for your morning exercise today?"

She knew him; at this time of day, he was either in the military camp or doing morning exercises in the courtyard, and rarely stayed in bed.

Pei Yanzhi, with his eyes half-closed, merely curled the corners of his lips slightly upon hearing this, "I'll keep you company. I haven't had a proper night's sleep in days."

Ji Shu looked up at him and couldn't help but say, "Actually, I'm fine. I'm not a fragile flower that can't withstand wind and rain." She added jokingly, "Besides, didn't you already get revenge for me?"

Pei Yanzhi opened his eyes and thought of what Wei Ziming had said yesterday. Although he didn't care much about it, it still stirred up some waves in his heart.

He flipped over and pinned Ji Shu beneath him, his fingertips gently loosening the ties of her inner garment.

Ji Shu was startled by his sudden action. She instinctively wrapped her arms around him, but feeling his imposing presence, she couldn't help but push him away, saying, "It's broad daylight, no way..."

Pei Yanzhi raised his eyebrows slightly, his eyes looking at her cheeks, which were now flushed with embarrassment. Her fragrant shoulders were exposed, and a thin red string was wrapped around her pink and white hairpin, which contained her soft breasts.

Pei Yanzhi's eyes were dark, and he stopped abruptly when he saw the faint red mole on her armpit as she raised her hands.

He reached out and rubbed that small patch of skin, making Ji Shu want to laugh. This spot was too sensitive, being close to her armpit; even the slightest touch would make it incredibly sensitive.

He said in an ambiguous tone, "There's a mole here? How come I didn't notice it before?"

Ji Shu, lying in the lower position, couldn't see anything and said nonchalantly, "Oh, maybe. Chunzhi mentioned it to me before."

Fu asked him again, "What's wrong?"

Pei Yanzhi shook his head, bent down and tore open the last bit of fabric, his thin lips kissing the vermilion dot. The red mole adorned his snow-white skin, making him alluring and captivating.

Ultimately, considering her health, they didn't go all the way.

Pei Yanzhi carried her off the bed and personally bent down to put on her shoes and socks. Ji Shu looked at him with droopy eyelids, feeling that his behavior had been strange since he came back last night, but she couldn't figure it out.

After breakfast, Wu Yang stepped forward and reported that the military advisor had important matters to discuss and asked him to come to the military camp.

After he left, the room became much quieter. Ji Shu took her medicine as usual. Knowing that he had bought the house next door but hadn't visited it yet, she went to take a look with great interest.

Perhaps knowing the place was too small, the wall next door had been knocked down and a moon gate installed so that people could come and go freely.

As noon approached, Lian'er hurried over and said, "Miss, there is a lady outside requesting an audience. She says she is your ex."

Ji Shu put down the object she was playing with, blinked in confusion, and said, "Please invite them in."

Ying'er led Qing'er inside slowly. After learning Ji Shu's identity, she was probably nervous and kept her head down, not daring to look at her too much.
