Chapter 167 What's all the fuss about so early in the morning?

The next day.

Morning light filtered through the thin gauze curtains, casting a soft golden glow on the bed and the two embracing figures.

The sunlight was dappled, like countless golden feathers, gently falling on them, warm and delicate.

Gu Zhixing gently rested his chin on Shen Jintang's shoulder, his arms possessively encircling her waist.

Five months and seven days later, he finally climbed back into bed, a satisfied smile unconsciously curving his lips.

His breathing was steady and deep, with a hint of languid satisfaction, as if the whole world had quieted down, leaving only the tranquility of the moment.

"Um……"

The person in his arms unconsciously snuggled against his chest, their raven-feather eyelashes casting soft shadows beneath their eyes, like two soft wings fluttering gently.

Gu Zhixing felt a surge of warmth in his heart and was about to hug her tighter when he suddenly froze.

This posture makes it look like he's nestled in Shen Jintang's arms.

Last night, the word "naive" suddenly exploded in his ears, each word like a small hammer, striking his heart, causing a sour and dull pain.

Gu Zhixing narrowed his phoenix eyes, a hint of cunning and resentment in his gaze.

With her well-defined fingers, she subtly hooked Shen Jintang's wrist and, with a clever twist, turned her over.

His movements were gentle yet decisive, as if afraid of waking her, yet carrying an undeniable firmness.

Now, Shen Jintang's arm was across his waist, and her cheek was pressed against his heart.

Yes, that's the right posture.

"What's all the fuss about so early in the morning..."

Shen Jintang was awakened by the commotion. Her voice was still hoarse from just waking up, like a whisper soaked in the morning mist, carrying a hint of laziness and dissatisfaction.

She frowned and was about to pull her hand back when Gu Zhixing grabbed it.

His hands were warm and strong, as if he wanted to hold her firmly in his arms, not giving her any chance to escape.

Shen Jintang opened her eyes groggily, her vision still somewhat blurry, as if looking at the world through a thin mist.

The morning light shone through the gauze curtains, gilding Gu Zhixing's well-defined profile with a golden edge. His features appeared even more three-dimensional in the light and shadow, with a hint of stubbornness in his eyes.

He straddled her, his thin nightgown hanging loosely on his shoulders, revealing his beautifully shaped collarbone and chest. His skin glowed faintly in the morning light, as if kissed by the sun.

Those eyes, which were usually smiling, now held a hint of stubbornness as they stared straight into her eyes.

He leaned down, his warm lips brushing lightly against her earlobe. His deep voice, husky with the raspy quality of early morning, was like a whisper dampened by morning dew, carrying a hint of magnetism: "You said I was childish yesterday, so now look at who's holding onto whom."

A helpless smile flashed in Shen Jintang's eyes.

Judging from his current posture, she knew what Gu Zhixing was thinking.

He was trying to prove that although he was a year younger than her, he was already mature and steady.

But this action only made him seem more childish.

She raised her hand and stroked the back of his neck, her fingertips gently caressing that sensitive spot of skin, as if soothing a frightened little animal.

Sure enough, I felt his breath catch in his throat and his body stiffen slightly, as if his most tender spot had been touched.

"Your Highness, be good!" Her voice carried a languid tone, as if she were still half-asleep. "You're not that childish."

This sounds like something you'd say to coax a child.

Gu Zhixing's eyes darkened, as if a thorn had been struck in his lungs, yet there was also a hint of stubbornness that refused to admit defeat.

He suddenly grabbed her wrist, his movements light yet firm, pressing her hand against the pillow, as if to freeze her struggles in this moment.

He lowered his head, his high, straight nose brushing intimately against her cheek: "Last night, Lord Siyan was right to reprimand me."

The warm breath sprayed on her ear, like a spring breeze brushing across a lake, creating ripples.

"Is that student mature enough now?"

Just as Shen Jintang was about to respond, he saw him suddenly curl up into a wicked smile, a smile that carried a hint of cunning and smugness.

He leaned down and planted a series of delicate kisses on her neck, each one like a feather gently brushing against her skin, tickling her yet irresistible.

The kiss gradually moved downwards, lingering on the collarbone, carrying a hint of provocation.

Shen Jintang felt a tingling sensation, and her voice softened involuntarily. She ran her fingers through his thick hair, but instead of pushing him away, she seemed to be responding silently.

Gu Zhixing looked up at her, his eyes filled with a triumphant smile, like a lion that had captured its prey, with a hint of satisfaction and pride.

Just as he was about to continue, three crisp, urgent knocks came from outside the door, as if breaking the morning's tranquility.

"Master, the matter has been investigated and clarified."

As if waking from a dream, Shen Jintang looked at Gu Zhixing in front of her, gently nudged him, and said with a hint of helplessness in her voice, "It's time to get up."

Gu Zhixing didn't move an inch, but instead hugged her even tighter, resting his chin on the top of her head, and said in a muffled voice, "Let them wait."

His voice carried a rare hint of willfulness.

Shen Jintang chuckled, gently tapping his nose with her fingertip, the movement soft yet teasing: "Is Your Highness trying to delay official business?"

"Just for a little while." He tightened his arms around her, pulling her completely into his embrace, his voice low and husky, "Let me hold you a little longer... hiss!"

In the morning light, Shen Jintang looked at his shameless appearance and pinched his waist hard with her fingertips.

Gu Zhixing winced in pain and shrank back slightly. She took the opportunity to wrap herself in the brocade quilt and roll to the inside of the bed.

Her long, dark blue hair covered the pillow, making her still-sleepy face appear even whiter, like a newly blossoming pear blossom, with a touch of cool beauty.
