"Your Highness, what do you think of these clothes?"
The shopkeeper's face was full of smiles as he personally took several carefully selected clothes from the waiter and presented them to Gu Zhixing with great care.
The clothes were laid out, the fabric gleaming softly under the light. Even without a close look at the style, the texture alone was enough to catch the eye. The colors were even more elegant: pale yellow, duck egg blue, and soft pink, each one appearing exceptionally delicate.
The shopkeeper introduced to Gu Zhixing, "These are all the best fabrics in the shop, and the styles are the most fashionable at the moment, perfect for young girls to wear."
Gu Zhixing raised an eyebrow slightly. Although he didn't know much about clothes, there was one thing he was very clear about—the most expensive wasn't necessarily the best, but the best was always expensive.
He glanced at her discreetly and said calmly, "Bring out your most expensive clothes for her to try on."
Upon hearing this, the shopkeeper's eyes narrowed into slits with a smile, and he replied repeatedly, "Alright!"
As he spoke, he hurriedly instructed the shop assistant to fetch the goods and arranged for someone to take Shen Jintang to the inner room to change clothes.
Gu Zhixing sat in the outer hall, his brows slightly furrowed, looking somewhat impatient.
The shopkeeper would come over from time to time, offering tea with great enthusiasm, but he would just wave his hand casually, his eyes occasionally drifting towards the inner room, appearing absent-minded.
Suddenly, Gu Zhixing's eyes lit up as a pale yellow figure appeared before him.
Shen Jintang came out of the inner room, wearing a pale yellow silk robe.
The dress was exquisitely tailored and should have been stunning, but it looked somewhat loose on Shen Jintang. She was slender, with slightly yellowish hair, a thin face, and prominent cheekbones, which made her appear even more frail.
Even so, her features were so exquisite that they seemed to have been carefully drawn by a painter. Her eyebrows and eyes were like a painting, and her lips were naturally colored, making her stand out. However, her slender figure added a touch of fragility to this beauty.
"Your Highness, are your clothes alright?" Shen Jintang asked softly, a hint of unease in her eyes.
Gu Zhixing's gaze fell on Shen Jintang, and he frowned slightly.
He raised his hand and gently touched the clothes. The fabric was soft and smooth, but the clothes seemed a bit loose, perhaps because Shen Jintang was too thin.
He sighed inwardly, realizing he would need to take better care of himself in the future.
"It's alright, just a bit too big," he said casually.
Ready-to-wear clothing is, after all, ready-to-wear clothing. Without the perfect fit of bespoke tailoring, there will inevitably be some areas that are not entirely satisfactory.
"Take all those pieces you just made, and use your most expensive fabric to quickly make a few more according to her current measurements," Gu Zhixing instructed.
The shopkeeper nodded hurriedly, his face beaming with smiles: "Okay, okay! I'll get right on it."
He immediately arranged for someone to measure Shen Jintang's size and had someone carefully put away the clothes Shen Jintang had changed out of. His actions were swift and respectful.
"hiss--"
As soon as the shop assistant who was taking measurements touched Shen Jintang's shoulder, she couldn't help but gasp slightly.
She had bruises on her shoulder from being kicked by Chi Yang, and they still ached slightly.
"What's wrong?"
Gu Zhixing was talking to the shopkeeper when he heard the muffled groan. He immediately looked up, walked over quickly, and gently patted Shen Jintang's shoulder.
Touching the bruise, Shen Jintang's delicate brows furrowed even more instantly.
"Who bullied you?" Gu Zhixing's voice was deep and cold, his eyes revealing a sharp glint.
Before Shen Jintang could speak, Gu Zhixing had already called out to the outside, "Chongyang!"
"Your Highness, Chongyang has not yet returned after being sent to investigate the assassin," a guard replied respectfully from the doorway.
Gu Zhixing's face darkened slightly, as if he was about to lash out, but Shen Jintang gently pressed his wrist down.
Although her hands were thin, they carried a warmth that instantly eased his tense emotions.
"Your Highness, please don't be angry." Shen Jintang smiled slightly, her eyes clear, as if they could dissolve all anger. "You've been so good to me, I don't know how to thank you enough."
Gu Zhixing frowned, a hint of confusion in his voice: "Thank me? What's there to thank me for?"
Shen Jintang gently shook her head, her voice soft yet sincere: "Thank you for buying me new clothes, and thank you even more for caring about me so much. That's enough."
Shen Jintang looked at Gu Zhixing with a serious and trusting gaze, as if he were some kind of savior.
But clearly everyone said he was a troublemaker, that he was a liar, that he... In short, no one saw him like Shen Jintang did.
This look in his eyes surprised Gu Zhixing, intrigued him, and even touched him slightly.
He was used to other people's opinions of him, used to those cold looks and criticisms, but Shen Jintang was different.
Gu Zhixing's heart skipped a beat, a feeling that felt somewhat unfamiliar to him. He even thought to himself that if Shen Jintang continued to see him this way, keeping her by his side wouldn't be a bad choice.
But the thought only flashed through his mind and he quickly suppressed it.
It's too much trouble. Women have always been troublesome, delicate and sensitive, and very difficult to raise.
"Get out!" Gu Zhixing waved his hand gently, signaling the guards to leave.
Meanwhile, the shopkeeper had already arranged for someone to measure Shen Jintang's size, carefully pack the clothes, and respectfully hand them over to Gu Zhixing.
Gu Zhixing took the package, frowning slightly. He never carried things himself, and he was afraid that Shen Jintang's frail body couldn't handle it if he handed it to her. After thinking for a moment, he still instructed, "Deliver it to the Princess's residence, and put the money in the Princess's account."
