Chapter 33 still makes me feel a little sorry for her.

Shen Jintang directed the servants to pack up the fine clothes and treasures and send them to the storeroom.

The servants were quick and efficient, not daring to slack off in the slightest.

After all, Shen Jintang held the token personally bestowed by the Princess, and seeing the token was like seeing the Princess herself. How could they dare to disobey in the slightest?

Offending the Crown Prince might only result in being scolded a few times, or at worst, kicked a couple of times. But offending the Princess would be a fatal disaster. Who would dare to take that risk?

Shen Jintang looked around the room, and the simple and elegant decorations came into view. She nodded slightly, feeling quite pleased with the place.

She originally intended for Gu Zhixing to spend all the money himself, but he ended up spending it all on himself. However, it wasn't a problem as long as the money was gone.

Now that she has moved all the valuables out of the house, Gu Zhixing will have no money left to squander.

Afterwards, she went straight to the storeroom, took out the silver, handed it to Lu Huaijin, and then slowly walked towards the study.

Gu Zhixing was sitting upright on the mat, holding a brush in his hand, seemingly writing and drawing on the paper.

Looking into the distance, Shen Jintang couldn't help but feel a sense of relief; it seemed that he was finally willing to study properly.

However, when she got closer to take a closer look, she saw only a Persian cat with its fur standing on end, its round eyes staring out as if it were silently protesting something.

Shen Jintang suddenly felt as if her voice was being squeezed out from between her teeth: "Your Highness..."

"Shen Jintang, you're here!" Gu Zhixing looked up, saw Shen Jintang, and smiled brightly, as if he had no idea how absurd his actions had been.

He warmly pulled her to sit down, then turned to Mr. Wang beside him and said, "You can begin your presentation."

Shen Jintang felt a sense of helplessness. It seemed that Gu Zhixing hadn't listened to a single word of his studies during her absence.

She took a deep breath, trying to suppress her anger, first signaling Mr. Wang to pause the lecture, and then slowly said to Gu Zhixing, "Your Highness, are you aware that the Princess has recently been staying in the palace and has not been returning to her residence?"

Gu Zhixing frowned slightly, as if he was thinking about something. After a moment, he said, "That's not surprising. When Mother is busy with state affairs, she often stays in the palace and it is common for her not to return home for a month or two."

"Then do you know that Her Highness the Princess also took all the money from the manor?" Shen Jintang smiled slightly, but her tone became increasingly serious.

Upon hearing this, Gu Zhixing's expression changed slightly, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: "What? You took all the money too?"

However, this surprise quickly dissipated.

Gu Zhixing patted Shen Jintang on the shoulder and comforted her, "It's alright, it's fine if you took the money. I have plenty of money, you won't go hungry."

Shen Jintang smiled slightly, quite patiently, and asked as if guiding, "Then, where is His Highness's money?"

Gu Zhixing was stunned for a moment before belatedly realizing that he had already spent all the money he had.

But he quickly put on a nonchalant air and said, "Although the money is gone, I still have so many rare treasures in my room. Any one of them is priceless. How could I possibly be short of money?"

Shen Jintang shook his head, his tone calm but tinged with helplessness: "Your Highness, you are unaware of the situation. Just now, Commander Lu came to collect a debt, and I sold all the valuables in your room to barely pay off Commander Lu's debt."

"What? You sold them all?" Gu Zhixing's eyes widened, his face full of shock.

Shen Jintang nodded and said seriously, "Because I was in a hurry to sell, I naturally couldn't get a good price. I had to use a lot of persuasion to barely raise the money to pay off the debt."

Gu Zhixing stood there stunned for a long time before he came to his senses, his face showing an expression of disbelief: "So, we don't have a single penny left?"

He knew exactly how much money he owed Lu Huaijin; he was even more aware of the value of the things in his house.

Any one of his belongings is priceless; it could easily pay off ten of Lu Huaijin's debts.

But considering that this was Shen Jintang's first time managing a household, it's understandable that he didn't know the price.

We can buy those things later.

But I still feel a little heartbroken; all those treasures he's accumulated over the years!

It took Gu Zhixing a long time to realize the fact that he had no money.

Shen Jintang raised her eyes slightly, carefully examining Gu Zhixing's expression. After a moment's thought, she said, "The Princess mentioned before she left that if the Crown Prince studies diligently, he will receive a monthly allowance."

"How much?" Gu Zhixing's face instantly lit up with anticipation as he asked eagerly.

“Five hundred per month,” Shen Jintang answered softly.

"Gold?" A hint of surprise flashed in Gu Zhixing's eyes, as if he could already see his future luxurious life.

“Copper coins,” Shen Jintang corrected calmly.

Upon hearing the word "copper coin," Gu Zhixing's expression instantly froze, as if covered by frost and gradually cracking.

He never associated copper coins with his life.

For him, copper coins were nothing more than something he had seen in a textbook.

"Are you kidding me? This isn't even worth the cost of one of my meals!" Gu Zhixing said angrily, his voice filled with disbelief.

“Your Highness can eat at the manor, and the manor will naturally provide meals, so there is no expense for meals,” Shen Jintang patiently explained. “In other words, these five hundred copper coins each month are Your Highness’s allowance.”
