Shen Jintang calculated for a moment and said, "It's tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Gu Zhixing suddenly turned his head, his eyes shining as he looked at Shen Jintang.
Finally, I'm free! I couldn't concentrate on studying or playing these past few days. Now that the exams are finally here, I'll be free after they're over.
Seeing Gu Zhixing's unconsciously upturned lips, Shen Jintang just frowned, showing no great joy.
"Shen Jintang, what will you do if I fail the exam tomorrow?" Gu Zhixing suddenly asked.
"If you can't pass the exam, you can't pass it," Shen Jintang said to Gu Zhixing. "As long as Your Highness tries your best tomorrow, that's fine."
"Go to sleep early, Your Highness," Shen Jintang said softly, her voice tinged with weariness.
She gently blew out the candle, and the room was instantly plunged into a quiet darkness.
Shen Jintang really didn't want to say anything more to Gu Zhixing.
Today, her period started, and the pain was excruciating, a pain she had never experienced before.
Perhaps it is because of the month of wandering, hunger and cold that my body has been overwhelmed, which has led to my current suffering.
Moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a soft, silvery glow over the dark space.
Shen Jintang lay flat on her back, her hands and feet were ice cold, but the pain in her lower abdomen felt like a dull knife cutting into her flesh, coming in waves.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead, and all she could do was curl up in an attempt to ease the pain.
Gu Zhixing tossed and turned, unable to sleep, his mind filled with thoughts of tomorrow's exam.
It would be a lie to say he wasn't nervous. This was the first time in his life he had taken an exam so seriously. If he failed, wouldn't that be too embarrassing?
Why don't you get up and go back to memorize the questions the teacher predicted? What if they come up on the test?
As the saying goes, even last-minute sharpening can be effective.
However, maintaining a good mental state is equally important.
Gu Zhixing turned over again, but still couldn't figure it out.
He turned over again and looked at Shen Jintang by the moonlight.
Shen Jintang curled up into a ball again.
Stomach ache again?
Gu Zhixing called softly, "Shen Jintang?"
"I'm here." Shen Jintang answered with difficulty, her voice low and trembling slightly.
Her forehead was already soaked with sweat, and her hair clung to her cheeks, making her look extremely disheveled.
"What's wrong with you?" Noticing the unusual tone of Shen Jintang's voice, Gu Zhixing suddenly sat up in bed and turned to look at her.
The moonlight, like water, shone on Shen Jintang's face, reflecting her pale lips and bloodless cheeks, a sight that was truly alarming.
Gu Zhixing's face darkened. Without thinking twice, he threw off the covers and got out of bed barefoot.
Shen Jintang curled up in a ball, her body trembling slightly, her voice barely audible: "It's nothing serious, it's just that my period has started."
Upon hearing this, Gu Zhixing's expression stiffened slightly, looking somewhat embarrassed.
But seeing Shen Jintang covered in sweat from the pain, he quickly calmed down, frowned, and asked, "Does it hurt that much? Is there any way to relieve it?"
Shen Jintang shook his head weakly: "It will be fine once you bear it. Your Highness should go and rest. You have an exam tomorrow."
She simply didn't have the energy to deal with Gu Zhixing anymore, and just hoped that he could go back to bed and rest as soon as possible and stop worrying about her.
Gu Zhixing didn't move, but just frowned as he watched Shen Jintang curl up on the ground.
It's not good for a woman's health to catch a cold. Letting Shen Jintang sleep on the ground for a while has allowed the cold to seep into her body, which has probably worsened her discomfort.
Thinking of this, without saying a word, he picked up Shen Jintang, blanket and all, from the ground.
The sudden feeling of weightlessness made Shen Jintang open her eyes slightly. She said softly, "Stop fooling around."
Her voice carried a hint of weariness and helplessness.
"No nonsense, you sleep in the bed."
Gu Zhixing ignored her resistance, steadily carried her to the bed, carefully placed her on the bed, and carefully covered her with a blanket.
Shen Jintang could feel the lingering warmth in the blanket and the familiar scent of Gu Zhixing, but the intense pain left her mind blank, and she couldn't think of anything to say.
Gu Zhixing didn't linger for long before turning around and leaving.
Shen Jintang focused all her energy on fighting the pain and had no time to think about anything else.
She closed her eyes, curled up into a ball, trying to ease the pain.
However, not long after, Gu Zhixing returned with a steaming bowl of brown sugar ginger tea.
Shen Jintang looked at him with a complicated expression, unsure of how to react.
Gu Zhixing gently helped her up, letting her lean on his shoulder. Then, he carefully blew on the ginger tea and whispered, "Open your mouth."
Shen Jintang was in great pain and could only obediently drink the warm ginger tea.
The liquid flowed down my throat into my stomach, bringing a touch of warmth.
"Alright, now that you've finished drinking, get a good night's sleep. If you're still feeling unwell tomorrow, I'll take you to see the imperial physician."
Gu Zhixing put the bowl aside, then tucked the blanket around her, his voice filled with gentle concern.
Shen Jintang looked at Gu Zhixing with an increasingly complicated expression.
Gu Zhixing seemed oblivious, and simply asked with a smile, "What? Moved? Want to repay this young master?"
Shen Jintang shook her head slightly, her voice tinged with helplessness: "I'm wondering, after all this commotion tonight, how much of it will you remember for tomorrow's exam?"
Upon hearing this, Gu Zhixing's smile instantly froze. He feigned anger, frowning as he said, "What a spoilsport! Bringing up exams at this time is such a mood killer!"
But when he turned and saw Shen Jintang's pale face, his tone softened: "Don't worry, this young master is very sharp. I've got all those things in my head. I won't forget them."
