Chapter 52 A Life Worse Than Death

Although he was unable to move, his eyes burned with flames of anger and despair.

He stared intently at Shen Huaiheng, his lips trembling slightly. Although he couldn't make a sound, his eyes were the most silent question: Why did you do this?

Shen Huaixu walked up behind Shen Huaiheng and gently patted his shoulder, his tone teasing: "Heng-ge'er, don't be afraid, Father is just a little surprised. He always thought you were his most beloved son, but he never expected that you had so many little thoughts in your heart."

Shen Huaiheng's face grew paler and paler, and he shrank back slightly, as if he wanted to break free from Shen Huaixu's hand, but dared not.

Shen Huaixu, however, did not care and continued, "Heng'er is afraid that one day his father will abandon him like he abandoned Aunt Qiu, so he is eager to seize the power of the Shen family. He likes power, but it far outweighs his respect for his father."

Shen Huaiheng raised his head, his eyes filled with terror, but he dared not refute.

Shen Huaixu chuckled softly, but his tone carried a hint of coldness: "Unfortunately, he's too naive. Power isn't something you can gain by poisoning someone. He only thought about drugging my father, but he couldn't grasp the foundation of the Shen family at all. It's truly laughable."

He released Shen Huaiheng, turned to look at Grand Tutor Shen, and said with a hint of mockery in his eyes: "Father, you see, although Heng-ge'er's plan failed, it has allowed me, the eldest brother, to reap a great benefit."

However, Grand Tutor Shen's gaze never fell on him.

Even with Shen Huaixu presenting Shen Huaiheng's betrayal before his eyes, Grand Tutor Shen's gaze remained fixed on Shen Huaiheng, tinged with a hint of reluctance and heartache.

Shen Huaixu's heart sank suddenly, and a surge of irritability welled up within him.

He had thought that Grand Tutor Shen would show him some kindness because of Shen Huaiheng's betrayal, but Grand Tutor Shen's gaze never fell on him.

Shen Jintang's gaze swept across the room, first landing on Shen Huaixu's cold expression, then on Shen Huaiheng's trembling back, and finally settling on Grand Tutor Shen's lifeless eyes.

She slightly raised the corners of her mouth and sneered, "Ha! This is quite a show."
