Chapter 18 18 "Yeah, together"

Chapter 18 18 "Yeah, together"

Something warm emanated from his chest, enveloping her tightly. She suddenly felt reluctant to move forward, especially when she saw Qin Yuyao beside him, looking at her with a look of disgust and resentment.

She lowered her eyes in a daze, avoiding his gaze.

Seeing that she didn't move, He Jingsui didn't wait any longer. He left Qin Yuyao and walked towards that direction. He had long legs and reached her in two or three steps.

A shadow fell over my head, and the light in front of my eyes dimmed.

His breath rushed into my nose, dry and refreshing, as if it had been exposed to the scorching sun.

Chen Zhan moved his eyelids, and his slender eyelashes trembled slightly.

Light and fragile.

He Jingsui stared at the eyelashes for a few seconds and saw that she had no intention of lifting her eyelids.

Suddenly he spoke again: "Chen Zan."

These two words made Chen Zan's heart tremble, and the heartbeat that he had tried hard to suppress started beating again.

The voice was right above her head, biting her name word by word, and she couldn't ignore it.

I slowly raised my gaze upwards, and in the shadow against the light, his outline was not very clear.

But it still made her heart burn.

"Why didn't you come over just now?" he asked lazily, with a faint smile in his eyes.

Chen Zhan became even more nervous. She pursed her lips, blushed slightly, and made an excuse: "I'm...working."

Glancing at the vest she was wearing, He Jing chuckled, "Volunteer?"

She acquiesced, her brows still slightly lowered. The fair skin on her forehead was covered in a layer of sweat, which, in the sunlight, became crystal clear.

"Didn't they say your paintings were in the exhibition?" He Jing raised his chin towards the school behind her. "Lead the way?"

Chen Zan raised his eyelids, surprise flashing in his eyes.

She was completely stunned, her pupils widened, which made people laugh.

He Jingsui's low voice came out lightly, and a calm smile was stained in the corners of his eyes and eyebrows.

The arc of his thin lips turned upwards, and he said lazily, "Do you regret it?"

He was talking about what she had asked him to promise last time at the shooting range.

Chen Zhan understood what he said and quickly shook his head, "No."

"Then lead the way." He had a smile on his face.

They were just four ordinary words, but they inexplicably made Chen Zan feel happy. The joyful mood rushed over her like a surging sea, leaving her no room to breathe.

Taking a deep breath, Chen Zan nodded and agreed to him, "Okay."

On the opening day of the art exhibition, the school was bustling with people coming and going, and the spacious green avenue was crowded with people.

The green leaves were swaying in the warm wind, and the brilliant light flickered, illuminating every lively figure.

Chen Zan and He Jing then walked side by side, lost in the not-so-crowded crowd.

His presence was too strong, and his outstanding appearance and figure attracted the attention of many girls. Some of them recognized him, and the admiring look they gave him became deeper and deeper, almost sticking to him.

Chen Zan glanced at him cautiously. In her peripheral vision, he seemed to be unaffected by these external factors. She tried her best to ignore it, but found it difficult to adapt.

She raised her hand and pushed her cap down, making the shade in front of her eyes a little bit more.

But in the next second, the brim of the hat was lifted up again by someone's hand.

A large amount of light gathered in her eyes.

Chen Zan subconsciously turned her head and looked at He Jingsui, who was much taller than her. The young man lowered his eyebrows and looked at her with his ink-black eyes.

I have severe heart palpitations.

"Don't pull the brim of your hat down so low," he warned. "It blocks your view. What if you fall?"

She just wanted to isolate herself from the sights and looks that she was not used to, and she didn't think about these aspects.

This simple sentence, like the warm fire in the fireplace, warmed Chen Zhan's heart.

Slightly dazed, she nodded slowly and said okay.

But the next second, He Shiyi suddenly called her, breaking the atmosphere that made her heart beat wildly.

He Shiyi asked her if He Jingsui and Jiang Qiannan had arrived.

Chen Zhan held the phone to his ear and whispered, "He's here, but not with Jiang Qiannan."

He Shiyi's voice came from the phone: "Are you with my brother?"

It was just a casual remark, but Chen Zhan almost couldn't hold the phone steady. However, He Jingsui was right beside her, so she could only respond calmly, "Yeah, together."

He Jing glanced at her.

"Okay then," He Shiyi arranged after figuring out the situation over the phone, "Then you stay with my brother first. I'll go look for Jiang Qiannan, and when I find him, I'll come find you both."

"good."

After the call ended, Chen Zhan hung up the phone.

"Is it Shi Yi calling?"

Chen Zan turned his head and nodded in a daze, "He asked if you guys were here."

"Jiang Qiannan had something urgent to do, so I came here first." He Jingsui told her.

"Oh." Chen Zan nodded.

Compared with the students walking together on the road and laughing happily, the two of them seemed too quiet.

Chen Zhan walked in front and led the way. Every two or three steps, she would look back at the young man behind her. Only after confirming that he was following her would Chen Zhan turn back with confidence and continue walking forward.

Amused by her slightly clumsy movements, He Jingsui lowered his brows and chuckled helplessly after she turned her head back.

The curve of the lips is full of laziness, yet there is an inexplicable sense of indulgence.

The exhibition area is very large, and the painting styles are divided into different areas. Each area is separated by a thin barrier. The clean and tidy display design is pleasing to the eye, and each painting in the area has special meaning.

Chen Zan took him around in circles and they were almost at the area where her paintings were exhibited. But she became nervous at the last moment. She didn't dare to imagine what He Jingsui would think after seeing her painting.

Will he remember?

Will he remember?

His heartbeat was as intense as a drum. Chen Zhan pursed his lips nervously, turned around to look at him, raised his hand and pointed inside, "It's inside..."

He Jingsui nodded and was about to walk inside when an unexpected phone call interrupted him.

He went to the side to answer the phone and apologized to Chen Zan.

Watching him walk away, Chen Zhan's tense mood relaxed slightly. His eyes fell on his broad back and a small part of his profile, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

She stood in the distance, waiting quietly, her eyes almost glued to his face.

In just a few seconds, the young man in the distance began to frown. He seemed to be caught in the center of a low pressure zone, with a hint of anger hidden in his coldness.

Chen Zan suddenly realized that something was wrong.

Then He Jingsui hung up the phone and walked towards her.

His face looked very bad. The moment he saw Chen Zan, he tried his best to suppress the emotions that made him irritable, but he was too restless at the moment.

"What's wrong with you?" Her voice was gentle, filled with worry.

He Jingsui didn't have time to understand, and said to her in a cold voice: "I won't look at paintings today, I have something urgent to deal with."

After saying that, he turned and left.

Before Chen Zan had time to care about what happened to him, the elegant and eye-catching figure had disappeared from her sight.

The moment his thoughts were dashed, Chen Zhan lowered his eyes in embarrassment.

She bit her lip, feeling like a clown.

He Jing rushed home as fast as he could, and sure enough, he saw He Jinzhou's car at the door.

He really came back.

He Jingsui chuckled sarcastically, his eyes turned cold, and he walked in with a very bad expression.

Before reaching the entrance, He Jingsui heard the sound from the living room.

"Jin Zhou, what do you think of this?" A slender and pretty female voice sounded like a silver bell. "Do you think my dad would like it if I took it back and gave it to him?"

He Jinzhou's voice then rang out, "I like everything you bought."

"What about these wrist guards and gloves? Asui works so hard shooting, do you think he would be happy if I gave them to him?"

"certainly."

"But he didn't seem to like me much before. Do you think he can accept me?"

"Don't overthink it," He Jinzhou patted the empty space on the sofa next to him and said comfortingly, "This kid was just too naive in the past. After so many years, he will slowly accept it."

Tao Ling still felt uneasy. She put the things in her hands on the coffee table, then walked over and put her arms around He Jinzhou's waist, leaning on his chest like a little bird, and acting coquettishly and pitifully, "But I still think too much. You don't know how much I want to get along with him..."

"I know everything."

Everyone in the living room echoed the same sentiment. He Jingsui stood at the entrance, his dark and cold face revealing a hint of disgust and mockery.

He strode in and looked down at the two people cuddling on the sofa.

The footsteps startled He Jinzhou and Tao Ling, and their eyes turned over at the same time and met He Jingsui's gaze.

With others around, Tao Ling couldn't cling to He Jinzhou any longer. She let go of him, stood up, and walked over with a smile, her attitude warm and sincere. "A Sui, why are you back?"

A pungent fragrance blew closer, and He Jingsui frowned deeply in disgust.

"Come in and sit down." Tao Ling called him as if she were the owner of this house, with a warm smile on her face. "Come in and take a look. I bought you a gift. See if you like it."

She pretended to pull him, but He Jingsui dodged her in disgust.

Tao Ling was stunned, and only then she noticed that the boy in front of her, who was much taller than her, had a very bad expression on his face.

She admitted that this face was so exquisite that it was very recognizable. Even at this moment, the boy's eyebrows were cold and the dissatisfaction revealed in his eyes made her feel uneasy.

Tao Ling withdrew her hand, and the smile on her lips gradually turned from relaxed and enthusiastic to stiff.

"A Sui..."

"Don't fucking call me by my name." He Jingsui interrupted her coldly, widening the distance between them with each word, "You don't deserve it."

These words were so embarrassing that Tao Ling's face turned blue and red.

"He Jingsui!" He Jinzhou's brows were furious. He slammed the table and stood up, scolding him in a deep voice, "How dare you talk to your elders like that?!"

"Elder?" He Jingsui didn't back down, and even scoffed disdainfully, "How can she be considered an elder when she's just a mistress who destroyed other people's families?"

"Shut up!" He Jinzhou walked over to protect Tao Ling and glared at him, "Watch your mouth!"

"As soon as your Aunt Tao heard you were coming back, she said she had to come see you. Knowing how hard your shooting training was, she even went out of her way to have a pair of gloves and wrist guards custom-made just for you. Not only did you not appreciate it, but you even said such harsh words. He Jingsui, what have you learned all these years! You've been hanging out with your scoundrel friends every day, and look what you've become! You have absolutely no respect for your elders!"

He Jingsui sneered, gritting his teeth to say something extremely unpleasant, not backing down at all, and confronted He Jinzhou, "That's a good point, He Jinzhou. In your eyes now, the mistress is more important than your son. If that's the case, then why did you come back?"

"Don't forget, this house belongs to my mother. What right does she have to stand here?"

"You..." He Jinzhou was furious at his words, his chest heaving up and down, and he pointed at him with a trembling finger, "You are simply lawless!"

"Jinzhou, forget it..." Tao Ling, who was leaning on his arms, suddenly spoke up, trying to interrupt this unpleasant meeting. "After all, we were the ones who made the mistake first. Don't blame Asui. If it weren't for me... Asui's mother wouldn't have..."

"Don't mention my mother!" He Jingsui's eyes were red with anger. He bit his back teeth and suppressed his anger. He asked them to leave in a stiff tone, "Take your things and leave quickly."

Knowing that the relationship still could not be eased, Tao Ling lowered her brows helplessly. She was a little sad, sad that He Jingsui was still trapped in the memories and was still brooding over it.

She always wanted to ease the relationship between them, but it was hard for her not to admit that she was the one who caused the greatest harm to He Jingsui.

He Jingsui watched them leave coldly until he was the only one left.

The room immediately fell silent until the last trace of perfume brought by Tao Ling disappeared.

He fell down on the sofa as if he had lost his strength, raised his head, closed his eyes and frowned.

The sharp throat line rolled slowly. He raised his hand, covering his eyebrows with his palm. Those old memories gushed out at this moment. He remembered his mother Ye Qingfei's pitiful death on the hospital bed, and He Jinzhou's joyful grand wedding with Tao Ling. He remembered that at the last moment, Ye Qingfei tried her best to tell him not to hate He Jinzhou even though she was in so much pain that she could hardly make a sound.

The palms holding the sofa clenched uncontrollably, and the bony fingers made a slight "crackling" sound.

It was impossible for him not to hate He Jinzhou.
