Chapter 46 South City
On the morning of the day they returned to Nancheng, Chi Qinghe took Yu Bai to the airport.
It was a beautiful day; the warm autumn sunlight streamed through the huge glass windows. Chi Qinghe, with tender and reluctant eyes, bid farewell to Yu Bai.
He gazed intently at Yu Bai, his voice gentle and tender, "I'll come to see you in Nancheng after I finish my work."
Yu Bai smiled and said, "Okay."
As boarding approached, Yu Bai and Chi Qinghe hugged before Yu Bai turned and left.
Chi Qinghe watched her departing figure from afar. After walking a few steps, Yu Bai turned around and waved to Chi Qinghe.
Until Yu Bai's figure disappeared, a layer of emptiness slowly peeled away from Chi Qinghe's heart, leaving him feeling empty and lonely. He wished he could rush up and stop Yu Bai from leaving.
After standing there for a long time, Chi Qinghe finally turned and left.
Looking up, she bumped into the same strange man she had met downstairs at Yu Bai's place that day.
The man remained hostile towards him, his malevolent and sinister gaze fixed on him without restraint, leaving Chi Qinghe completely bewildered.
As they passed each other, Chi Qinghe spoke casually, "Excuse me, do I know you?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Jizhou stopped and stood facing him.

She sat in the middle seat, next to a young girl who was a little younger than her. The seat by the window was temporarily empty. As Yu Bai fastened her seatbelt, a tall man in black clothes and a white baseball cap sat down in the empty seat to her right.
The girl on the left immediately said to Yu Bai excitedly, "Sister, look at the boy next to you, he looks like a celebrity."
Why would celebrities sit in economy class with them? Yu Bai looked up at his right side with suspicion, but was momentarily stunned.
Jiang Jizhou turned his head to look at Yu Bai, a slight smile playing on his lips.
He was born with a handsome face, and his smile was even more dashing. The girl next to him was already starry-eyed and infatuated, while Yu Bai only felt a chill run through his body.
Yu Bai gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "Jiang Jizhou, didn't you go back to Nancheng?"

Yu Bai clenched his fist and demanded, "Then how did you know I was going back today?"

Yu Bai moved closer to the girl on the left, ignoring Jiang Jizhou and preferring to ignore him, treating him as a complete stranger.
But the girl who witnessed the whole thing struck up a conversation with him as if they were old friends, smiling brightly, "You two know each other?"
Jiang Jizhou nodded, but Yu Bai shook his head, leaving the girl completely confused.
Jiang Jizhou smiled and said, "They had a fight."
"Oh, I see." The girl blinked, already imagining scenes from an idol drama, and said to Jiang Jizhou, "Then you have to coax your sister well."

"So you want me to do that interview with Su Yin?" Jiang Jizhou asked casually. After investigating, he learned that Su Yin and Yu Bai were mortal enemies, and Su Yin often bullied Yu Bai in the workplace. He remembered this debt.
Yu Bai's eyes flickered slightly, then he calmly said, "Whatever."
“Okay, then I’ll take her interview.” Jiang Jizhou looked away and answered indifferently.
Although Yu Bai didn't want to accept Jiang Jizhou's interview, the image of Su Yin bullying him was imprinted in her mind, especially the time she mocked her hearing problem, which was a thorn in Yu Bai's heart. "Then may I accept your interview?" Jiang Jizhou suddenly leaned closer, his long eyelashes fluttering, his tone gentle, as if he was asking for her opinion entirely at her discretion.
Yu Bai had no other choice. She stared at Jiang Jizhou's face, which was so close to hers, and nodded gently. Upon seeing this, Jiang Jizhou smiled.
The clouds outside the window were white and soft, and the midday sun shone a golden light, creating a stunningly beautiful scene. The girl held up her phone to film a video.
While taking pictures, she said to Yu Bai, "Sister, is that brother your ex-boyfriend?"
Yu Bai was startled and immediately shook his head, flustered by the fact that her thoughts had been guessed. The girl smiled and said, "It must be. I overheard your conversation just now, and it seemed like you were jealous of another girl, wasn't that right?"
Yu Bai quickly shook his head, like a rattle-drum. Jiang Jizhou leaned closer and smiled, "Bai Bai, you don't want me to do Su Yin's interview, are you jealous?"
Jiang Jizhou's voice was deep and slightly hoarse, with a hint of youthful clarity. His tone was like that of a cunning green tea b*tch. Yu Bai suppressed the urge to punch him and denied it repeatedly, "No, no, how could that be?"
The girl smiled knowingly, while Yu Bai frowned. She was truly in a situation where she couldn't clear her name no matter what. She glared at Jiang Jizhou, but Jiang Jizhou just smiled at her.
With Jiang Jizhou by her side, Yu Bai remained wide awake for three hours, as if facing a formidable enemy. Yet, Jiang Jizhou seemed oblivious to Yu Bai's annoyance, engaging in endless conversation with her. Yu Bai either gave perfunctory replies or simply ignored him, but he still seemed to enjoy it immensely.
Upon arriving in Nancheng, Yu Bai decided to get away from Jiang Jizhou as soon as he got off the plane.
Before getting off the plane, the girl sitting next to Yu Bai whispered, "Sister, your ex-boyfriend seems to be a Labrador. You treated him so badly, yet he still clung to you."
Yu Bai's eyes widened, and he was stunned for a moment.
Jiang Jizhou, standing to the side, grinned and said, "Bai Bai, did you hear that? You're still not going to buy me a dog leash?"
This made the girl laugh out loud, while Yu Bai blushed. Jiang Jizhou was really shameless these days.
After getting off the plane, Jiang Jizhou helped Yu Bai drag his luggage, but Yu Bai couldn't take it from him. Just then, Chi Qinghe called, so Yu Bai ignored him and answered the phone.
Upon answering the phone, Yu Bai let Chi Qinghe know he was safe, "Qinghe, I have arrived safely."
Chi Qinghe's voice was slightly low, "Okay, I miss you, bye-bye."
Yu Bai lowered his eyes, "I miss you too."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Jizhou, who was dragging his luggage, turned as black as coal.
Hearing Yu Bai's words, Chi Qinghe felt much happier. He promised Yu Bai, "I will finish my work as soon as possible and come to Nancheng to find you soon."
Yu Bai smiled, pursing his lips. "Okay."
Just as they were descending the steps, Yu Bai, preoccupied with talking to Chi Qinghe, didn't notice the steps. Wearing low-heeled shoes, she almost tripped. Jiang Jizhou supported Yu Bai and whispered, "Watch where you're going."
"Who's next to you?" Chi Qinghe heard a somewhat familiar male voice and quickly asked Yu Bai.
Yu Bai bit her lip, opened her eyes and lied, "Nobody, just passing by."
"Oh, okay." Chi Qinghe smiled. "Bai Bai, go back and get some sleep and rest. Call me again after you've finished packing."
"good."
Yu Bai hung up the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Tch." Jiang Jizhou scoffed.
Yu Bai gave him a cold look.
Jiang Jizhou said to Yu Bai, "I'll take you back."
Yu Bai refused coldly, "No need."
Jiang Jizhou didn't waste any words and dragged her luggage to his car. The driver immediately got out to help. Yu Bai cursed Jiang Jizhou from behind, but considering the crowd around them, she ultimately chose to give in, opened the car door, and got in.
