Chapter 9 Liyang City

Liyang City, located in the north of Lishui River, is the largest city closest to Taiwei Sect. In the past, when Feng Shao led his fellow apprentices to travel down the mountain, they often stopped at Liyang City. Many things that impressed him had happened in this city.

What impressed him most was that seven years ago, he rescued a little girl of eight or nine years old here.

At that time, the little girl was disheveled and looked like a beggar on the street. Probably because she was too hungry, she stole a few buns from the bun shop, but was discovered by the bun shop owner, who chased her and beat her all the way. If Feng Shao hadn't stopped her in time, the little girl would have been beaten to death by the bun shop owner.

Afterwards, Feng Shao treated her to a hearty meal, and at her request, sent her all the way to Xiaoyao Hall, which was hundreds of miles away. After arriving at Xiaoyao Hall, Feng Shao realized that this little girl was actually Lin Xiaoran, the only daughter of Lin Fengtian, the head of Yunjian Pavilion, and Xiao Ruoyao, the head of Xiaoyao Hall.

In order to repay Feng Shao for saving her life, Xiao Ruoyao taught Feng Shao the 36 Sword Techniques of Xiaoyao Hall, and Feng Shao's strength was greatly improved. However, since Feng Shao was a disciple of Taiwei Sect, it was inconvenient for him to become a disciple of Xiaoyao Hall, so Xiao Ruoyao and Feng Shao had the relationship of master and apprentice but not the name of master and apprentice.

This is Feng Shao’s biggest opportunity since he traveled to this world.

Four years later, Yunjian Pavilion sent people to Taiwei Sect to request a marriage alliance with Taiwei Sect. The two parties to the marriage were naturally Feng Shao and Lin Xiaoran. However, Feng Shao never mentioned that matter to others, so no one in Taiwei Sect knew why the Pavilion Master of Yunjian Pavilion in Zhendongzhou was willing to marry his precious daughter to the head disciple of a mere second-rate sect. Qingyangzi only thought that Yunjian Pavilion valued the development potential of Taiwei Sect, but he didn't know that there was another story behind this matter.

But speaking of this, although Feng Shao has already made a marriage contract with Lin Xiaoran, he has not seen Lin Xiaoran in these years, and he does not know how the little girl is doing now, whether she has grown into a graceful young lady. But referring to the appearance of Lin Xiaoran's mother Xiao Ruoyao, Feng Shao feels that no matter how ugly Lin Xiaoran is, she will never be ugly.

After Feng Shao entered the city, he walked towards Linglong Pavilion in the city.

Linglong Pavilion is an institution established by Yunjian Pavilion in the secular world to sell various rare treasures. Originally, there was no Linglong Pavilion in Liyang City. This Linglong Pavilion was specially established by Yunjian Pavilion not long after Feng Shao rescued Lin Xiao. In the words of the shopkeeper of Yunjian Pavilion, this Linglong Pavilion in Liyang City was specially established for Feng Shao.

In this regard, Feng Shao could only sigh that Yunjian Pavilion was truly wealthy and powerful!

Feng Shao would not pretend to refuse to accept Yunjian Pavilion's deliberate arrangement. Although he is now a saint, he is still not much different from before. The current assets of Taiwei Sect were basically acquired by Feng Shao and his men. There are some, but not much. In this case, it is natural to save as much as possible.

However, Linglong Pavilion can sell things to him at a discount, on credit, and can give him priority if there are any good things, but he cannot do that without paying.

The explanation given by the shopkeeper of Linglong Pavilion is that the big boss may not make money from you, and it doesn’t matter if he loses money, but he cannot spoil his son-in-law to the point of getting something for nothing and being lazy.

While walking on the street, Feng Shao suddenly felt a gust of air blowing past him. Without thinking, he subconsciously reached out to grab it, and the next moment he felt a slender wrist being grabbed by him, and at the same time a crisp voice cried out in pain: "Let go! You hurt me!"

Feng Shao glanced over and saw a dishevelled child struggling to pull his wrist back from Feng Shao's hand. The child looked no more than twelve or thirteen years old, and because he was so dirty, he couldn't tell whether the child was a boy or a girl.

Feng Shao frowned, squatted down, looked at the other person, and said, "Did you try to steal my money just now?"

The child quickly said, "That's not true! Don't slander someone's innocence out of thin air!"

"Really?" Feng Shao smiled, "Then why don't you tell me what you were doing just now?"

"I was just passing by and bumped into you, that's all!" The child's eyes were evasive, as if he didn't dare to look Feng Shao in the eye.

Looking at his expression, Feng Shao knew that the kid was lying.

Feng Shao thought for a moment and took out a silver ingot from his storage ring. When the child saw the silver ingot, his eyes lit up immediately, but then he lowered his head quickly, as if he didn't want Feng Shao to see his eyes.

Feng Shao held the silver ingot and said in a serious tone: "Little guy, tell me honestly, did you want to steal the money just now?"

The child rolled his eyes and asked, "If I answer you, will you give me this ingot of silver?"

"Yes, but only if you don't lie."

The child hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly.

Feng Shao sighed and said, "What do you want to do by stealing the money?"

The child was anxious: "Didn't you just say that you would give me the money as long as I answered your question? How can you go back on your word?"

"I didn't say I wouldn't give it to you." Feng Shao rolled his eyes at him, "But now, this ingot of silver is in my hand, and you have to answer whatever I ask. Only if you answer honestly, will I give you the silver."

The child gritted his teeth and said, "You adults all don't keep your word. I won't believe you anymore!"

Feng Shao smiled and said, "I see you seem to need money, right? Think about it, as long as you answer my questions you can get the money, even if you don't get it you won't suffer any loss! If I were you, no matter whether what the other party said was true or false, since there is a chance to get the money, I would definitely not let it go, don't you think this makes sense?"

After thinking for a while, the child said, "My brother is sick and needs medicine, but I don't have money to buy medicine."

"Where are your parents?"

Hearing Feng Shao's question, the child's eyes suddenly became moist: "My father was beaten to death, and I don't know where my mother ran off to. Now my brother and I are the only ones left at home. I... I have to find a way to support myself and my brother. If my brother dies of illness, I will be the only one left in this world..."

Hearing the child finish his words with sobs, Feng Shao couldn't help but sigh. He stuffed the silver ingot into the child's hand and said softly, "Go buy medicine for your brother first, and then wait for me at the door of the restaurant next to Linglong Pavilion."

The child looked up at Feng Shao in disbelief: "Really? Are you really going to give me this ingot of silver?"

"Yes, but this ingot of silver is not given for free. You have to help me do something. I told you in advance that my job is not so easy to do, so you have to be mentally prepared. But now take the silver to buy medicine for your brother, and come back to me after buying the medicine."

The child nodded vigorously: "Thank you, benefactor!"

As he spoke, he clutched the silver ingot tightly, turned around and ran towards the pharmacy.

There is a reason why Feng Shao did this.

As the saying goes, help in an emergency but not in poverty. The silver ingot he gave to the child could only help him temporarily, not forever. When the silver was spent, the child and his brother would fall into trouble again.

Therefore, Feng Shao thought of introducing the child to work in Linglong Pavilion, so that he could have a stable income. As Linglong Pavilion is a subordinate institution of Yunjian Pavilion, no one dares to cause trouble, so the child and his brother would have a shelter.

But before that, he had to test the character of this child. If he really waited for him at the place Feng Shao said, it would prove that this child was an honest and trustworthy person, and he was worth saving.

But if he doesn't come, it means that the child has bad character and there is no need for me to worry about him anymore.

Looking at the back of the child leaving, Feng Shao couldn't help but sigh. In this fantasy world, there are always many such miserable people. He can only save one or two, but not everyone.

He thought of Lin Xiaoran. Seven years ago, when he met Lin Xiaoran, he was just like this little kid. He didn't know what she had gone through after she ran away from home, so that she became a little beggar.

He withdrew his gaze and continued walking towards Linglong Pavilion.

Arriving at Linglong Pavilion, before Feng Shao could take out the "Fengyun Order" exclusive to Yunjian Pavilion, the shopkeeper behind the counter came up to him with a big smile on his face: "Sir, you haven't been here for a long time. What good things are you looking for today?"

Feng Shao took out a piece of paper and handed it to the shopkeeper: "I need the things on this, shopkeeper, please help me calculate the price."

The shopkeeper took the note, calculated for a while, and then said, "The things you want are not expensive, a total of 120 spiritual stones, or 120,000 taels of silver. Do you want to pay or place an order?"

The price given by the shopkeeper was already discounted. If someone else were to buy it, the price would probably be more than doubled. But when Feng Shao heard the price, he still looked bitter. He thought that these things would only cost 80 spirit stones at most, and that was about all he had with him, but he didn't expect the actual price to be much higher than he imagined.

The shopkeeper saw Feng Shao's expression and understood. This future son-in-law was good in every way except that he was too poor. Every time he came to consume, he would buy on credit eight out of ten times. Fortunately, Feng Shao had a good character and would always come to settle the bills as soon as he had money.

It seems that my son-in-law is going to buy on credit again this time.

Just as he was thinking about it, he heard Feng Shao say, "Boss, I just got a sword. How much can you say it's worth?"

Upon hearing this, the shopkeeper immediately became excited and asked, "I wonder if you are going to pawn your life or your death?"

"Death."

The so-called "live pawn" means that the pawned items will be redeemed in the future, while "dead pawn" means that the items will never be redeemed. The latter will pay more money than the former. After all, the former is a mortgage loan, while the latter is a direct purchase.

Linglong Pavilion did have pawn business, so the shopkeeper immediately took Feng Shao to the back hall. After arriving at the back hall, Feng Shao took out the Blood Refining Sword from his storage ring, handed it to the shopkeeper, and said, "Shopkeeper, take a look at this sword first."

When the shopkeeper saw the blood-red sword, several familiar names immediately popped up in his mind. He carefully stroked the sword and used his skills to inspect the Blood Refining Sword from top to bottom. The whole process took half an hour. When he finally put down the sword, his eyes were filled with horror: "Could this sword be the legendary lost magic weapon of Blood Wing?"

Feng Shao nodded: "It seems that the shopkeeper has also seen it. Yes, if I am right, this sword is the legendary Blood Refined Sword."
