"Got it!" Ge Gen jumped up and down a couple more times.
Then Ji Mofan pressed his shoulders down and pinned him back to the ground.
"Don't get too excited, or you won't be able to sleep," he said.
As for why Ji Mofan specifically reminded him of this point...
Can he say that he was also in such a dead state back then?

As expected, Ge Gen appeared the next day with two huge dark circles under his eyes.
Ji Mofan was startled by his appearance. "Ge Gen? You've come too early. There's still half an hour before the ceremony. You could have slept longer."
"I can't sleep." Ge Gen rubbed his sore eyes, but his eyes shone brightly. "Master, in half an hour, I will officially become your disciple!"

Ge Gen took out the book from his pocket, the edges of which were already slightly yellowed, and very carefully opened it to the page where he had tucked a leaf between his fingers.
When Ji Mofan first used this book, he didn't really cherish it. Although he didn't deliberately tear off the stains, he did make annotations and such by folding corners.
Later, it was passed around to countless people, to the point that even cleansing spells couldn't fully restore it to its original state.
But Ge Gen still cherished this tattered old book, and was unwilling to even fold the corners of the markings.
