Chapter 9 Ninth Night

Chapter 9 Ninth Night

My name is Yun Wanwan. There are no clouds to accompany the morning glow, and the night comes late to play the zither.

Yun Wanwan was telling the truth.

What exactly is the food standard in this world like? I have a thorough understanding of it from my original body's memories - there is no concept of "it's okay" at all.

Even if I came from a wealthy family, under such circumstances, I could only choose nutrient solutions with a more flavorful taste. Of course, for some grand occasions, those who were more sophisticated would use food made from rare cultivated ingredients, but the taste was hard to describe. I never thought those luxurious foods tasted good.

As for luxury goods, whether they taste good or not is no longer important. Being able to serve a few exquisite original ecological foods at a banquet is already a sign of prestige.

When Yun Wanwan first realized this, she felt a bit hopeless. She had been practicing for nearly a thousand years, always taking things as they came, and only refused to treat herself badly when it came to food. She had never pursued fasting for the sake of practice.

Unexpectedly, after "traveling through time", she would still be forced to practice fasting in this magical world - what is the difference between those nutrient solutions and fasting pills?

The scariest thing is that the world has a fundamental problem with food sources.

Fortunately, the black mushrooms had given her a pleasant surprise: a small fruit tree had grown in their secret base, and it hadn't completely mutated. On this polluted and completely transformed planet, it was a miracle.

In other words, this fruit tree has actually mutated, but in the process of mutation, some different changes have occurred.

According to Yun Wanwan's understanding, this fruit tree, which was as short as a bush, absorbed the violent spiritual energy in the polluted air and began to alienate, but it could not completely get rid of the invasion of pollution and was stuck at a most critical node.

If successful, it may be the first new biological clock on the planet that has truly adapted to this world. If it fails, it will be just one of the thousands of mutated plants.

When Yun Wanwan discovered it, or rather, was led to it by the black mushroom, it was almost unable to hold on and the alienated part was spreading.

Yun Wanwan could feel that this was a magical node. If it weren't for her arrival, this evolution would probably have ended in vain, just like the struggles this planet had made in the past many years, and eventually returned to silence.

Black Mushroom brought Yun Wanwan here, probably because he sensed this opportunity and felt that this human who fell from the sky could bring about different changes.

After she injected her spiritual power into the sapling, Yun Wanwan gained a little more perception of this world. That subtle feeling made her suddenly understand the reason why she appeared in this world.

Finally, she came to a conclusion. Well, this place was probably not an illusion, and she had indeed failed to ascend to heaven. She came to a strange world and inherited a rather embarrassing identity.

However, she still lacked some understanding of what to do specifically, and Yun Wanwan was too lazy to bother about it. She just went with the flow.

Shi Kaien was lost in thought while holding the fruit, and Yun Wanwan was also distracted for a while, and the scene was very quiet.

Black Mushroom endured for a long time, but as if his legs were a little sore, he couldn't help but secretly jumped on the spot.

Guji...

Then the two people who were originally distracted looked up at the same time and looked at this vibrant black mushroom.

Poor black mushroom: I dare not move!

Yun Wanwan laughed out loud again.

Shi Kane sighed, "I don't know..." Only then did he react and realize that they had not yet introduced themselves to each other.

Yun Wanwan seemed to realize the reason for Kane's pause. "My name is Yun Wanwan. The morning glow has no clouds to accompany it, and the night comes late for the music of the harp and the zither."

Shi Kane: "..."

Yun Wanwan: Well, she made a mistake. This way of introduction doesn’t seem suitable for this world where the ancient charm has long disappeared.

Surely Shi Kane must have thought her way of speaking was a little strange? Yun Wanwan nodded. Now she understood that she couldn't leave this world anytime soon. She had to continue living with this identity, so she had to adapt to this world.

After Shi Kaien digested Yun Wanwan's words and understood the three characters she meant by "Yun Wanwan," he felt as if he had heard the name somewhere before. He was very confident in his memory and knew it wasn't just an illusion. He must have heard the name somewhere before, but it probably wasn't a significant memory, so he couldn't find it for the time being.

Knowing that there would be such a moment, he would definitely put that memory in the most important corner in advance.

"Shi Kane. The Shi of time, the Kai of triumph... the En of repaying a favor..."

"Puff." I don't know.

Ritz-Carlton

Yun Wanwan couldn't help but laugh when Shi Kaien specifically brought up the topic of repaying a favor.

Shi Kane became even more certain that Yun Wanwan had no reaction to his name and really didn't know his identity.

This feeling was very novel. He felt that with his identity, he was well-known not only in the Empire, but also in the neighboring Alliance. Even if not everyone knew what he looked like, was there really no reaction when they heard this name?

It’s not that Yun Wanwan didn’t respond. She really felt that she had heard this name somewhere, just like when she first met Kane, she felt that this face was familiar. However, the original body’s memory was a bit weird. If it wasn’t necessary, she didn’t want to interpret those weird points in the original body’s memory at all, because it was always accompanied by strange emotions, which made her speechless.

"Miss Yun..."

"Just call me by my name. If you don't mind, you can just call me Wanwan. I don't mind."

"Ms. Yun... Miss Wanwan."

“Puff.”

Having been laughed at several times by Yun Wanwan, Shi Kaien was unusually shy. A faint pink crept up the tips of his ears, which he couldn't even detect. "Would you mind taking me to see where this fruit grows? Miss Wanwan..." After calling her name twice, there was no longer any embarrassment. Shi Kaien was extremely at ease, but he also knew that his request was rather abrupt. "Miss Wanwan, I'm sure you also know what it means to have pollution-free plants that can produce pure fruit."

The future of mankind might depend on this moment, and Kane was a little nervous.

"It should be okay to go and have a look, but I'm afraid you'll be disappointed."

Shi Kane shook his head. This unexpected discovery was already a huge gain. Shi Kane felt that he would not be disappointed.

There were still many things about Yun Wanwan that puzzled Shi Kaien, but now was not the time to ask them. Wild plants that were pollution-free and could bear fruit on their own were more important.

Because he was too comfortable staying in this small courtyard, when he was about to step out of the yard, Yun Wanwan reminded him to put on his protective suit again. "Miss Wanwan, your protective suit?"

Yun Wanwan spread her hands and said, "I don't need it."

After this period of training, even though there was not much progress in refining the violent spiritual energy, the polluted air around her basically had no effect on her.

Shi Kaien looked at Yun Wanwan, who seemed to be strolling in a forest park, without saying a word.

Knee-high black mushrooms were jumping around in front of Yun Wanwan, making gurgling sounds. They were very elastic and not slow at all. There were huge native plants everywhere. According to the data sent back by the intelligent computer, all the plants here have mutated. Even though most of them did not have offensive properties, they had long been integrated with the pollution sources and could not be easily touched by humans.

Not to mention the devil vine that had been following them in the dark, thinking it was sneaking around without anyone noticing, but it didn't know that it could not escape Shi Kane's perception.

Looking at the black mushroom jumping in front, which was obviously acting as a guide, and Yun Wanwan, who was wearing clothes that were worn and a little messy, Shi Kane felt that he had jumped through a rift and accidentally entered a fantasy paradise.

——Could it be that I am still in a coma because my mental strength has been damaged?

At a certain moment, Shi Kane developed a similar understanding of the world as Yun Wanwan.

That place was not far away, at least not with Kane's walking speed. What's more, he was wearing a uniform that looked similar to a protective suit, but was actually a special uniform for mecha warriors. It could be used as a small mecha when necessary, and could assist his movements at any time. He would not feel tired when moving in such a complex environment.

But Yun Wanwan was different. Even though the terrain was so shallow that one foot was higher than the other, she could still walk as if she was taking a stroll in the garden, without her breathing being disordered at all.

Sure enough, this girl has many secrets!

"This is it."

What Shi Kane didn't expect was that the plant he had been thinking about was actually growing in a sunken cave. In the deep and huge pit, there was a pool of dark blue water. The tiny plant grew on a small piece of land in the middle of the pool, looking so pitiful that it seemed as if it would be submerged by the water at the next moment.

The thin plants are green and lush, and against the backdrop of the blue water, the luster looks a bit strange. What is even stranger is that such a fragile plant is actually full of fruits, but they still look very weak and are not yet ripe.

I think the black mushrooms we picked were just ripe.

"Can I... go over and take a look?"

"Suit yourself." Yun Wanwan had no objection. She could see that Shi Kane was only surprised and shocked, and would not do anything to hurt these little guys. He was probably more concerned about the safety of these little guys than she was.

Just as Kane was still measuring the composition of the water in the pond, the black mushroom that had been bending its stem and sticking it at the edge of the pit suddenly pressed down its stem hard, then jumped with a big leap, and landed accurately on the ground in the middle of the pond like a divine soldier descending from the sky, right next to the weak plant.

He didn't know if it was his illusion, but Shi Kane seemed to see the small plant shaking, and its thin branches seemed to rub against the black mushroom. Looking at the slender and well-behaved small plant that was only slightly taller than the black mushroom, a soft feeling flashed through Shi Kane's heart.

This is what a normal plant should look like. This is what it should look like when humans, animals and plants lived in harmony thousands of years ago.

"Actually," Yun Wanwan said leisurely, "no matter what you want to do, Mr. Shi, it won't work for now. The little fruit is still fragile, and it can't leave this land at all, so Mr. Shi can't take it away from here."

Although he didn't know why, Shi Kane knew that Yun Wanwan had no reason to lie to him.

"More importantly, this place is not so easy to come to. Even if Mr. Shi wants people to come here to study the small fruit, it will be difficult to do so."

After all, Shi Kaien can come and go here safely because Yun Wanwan is by his side!

The author has something to say:

The dwarf shaking the branch: Ahhhhh, I have a name, my name is Little Fruit!
