Chapter 87 When are you getting married?

The door was opened.

A very tall, yet hunched old man stood in front of the door.

Wearing reading glasses, he squinted, trying to get a closer look at Gao Qinyi and Zhou Chu.

"Old woman, Qinqin is back!" Grandpa called out to the inner room.

"They're here." Grandma then came out from inside.

It turns out I've been changing clothes the whole time.

She was wearing a bright red knitted sweater and looked quite energetic.

"Qinqin has grown taller again." Grandma's smile was very kind, but her wrinkles were becoming more and more obvious.

"My Qinqin has become even more beautiful."

Grandpa was clearly very good at talking; he patted Gao Qinyi's head and stepped aside to let them in.

His gait was somewhat unsteady, clearly indicating his advanced age.

"Grandpa, Grandma." Gao Qinyi's smile was as bright as her grandmother's.

A genuine smile.

Only then did they notice Zhou Chu following behind them.

"Isn't this the kid from next door back in the day? It's been a while, hasn't it?"

Although he was quite unhappy about being called "that kid next door".

But he still nodded very obediently: "Hello, Grandpa. Hello, Grandma."

As he spoke, he picked up the two large bags behind him and placed them to the side: "These are gifts that Sister Qin and I bought for you two."

Although he often came here to have meals with these two old people when he was a child, they were quite close.

But Zhou Chu dared not be negligent at all at this moment, and even his mind and attention were very focused.

I'm here as their grandson-in-law, and I wonder what the two elders will think of me, the guy who kidnapped their granddaughter.

“We’re just about to eat. I’ve always heard that Qinqin has a keen sense of smell and always comes back when it’s time to eat.” Grandpa smiled and pointed to the food on the table: “Grandma, hurry up and cook two more dishes.”

"No need, Grandpa," Gao Qinyi quickly advised. "There's no need to trouble Grandma."

"What's so troublesome about this?" Grandma had already put on an apron that she had taken out from somewhere and strode towards the kitchen.

"Really, it's not necessary." Gao Qinyi hurriedly stepped forward to stop her: "I can do it."

The final conclusion was that they cooked together.

Zhou Chu was forced to sit on the sofa with his grandfather and chat.

"Kid, how's it going?" Grandpa gently pressed the remote control, and the TV turned on.

In fact, he didn't watch TV at all; he just used the TV sound to cover up their conversation, so that his granddaughter, who kept glancing at him, wouldn't hear what they were saying.

"It's alright, it's alright." How could Zhou Chu not see through his intentions?

Although he lacks social experience, Grandpa, as long as he can hold out until Gao Qinyi finishes cooking, that's fine!

"I heard you and Qinqin applied to the same school?"

"That's right."

"Then aren't we classmates now?"

"That's right."

"You can't say anything other than that you're right?" Grandpa said irritably, squinting his eyes behind his reading glasses as if trying to see clearly whether Zhou Chu was a human or a ghost: "You're still the same as before, you can't get a word out of me even if you hit me three times."

"Grandpa is joking." Zhou Chu waved his hand. "It's natural to feel reserved in front of Grandpa..."

"No need, don't give me that." Grandpa had a "I see right through you" look on his face, and didn't forget to complain, "I really don't know how Qinqin could have fallen for a brat like you."

Sure enough, the old man was still the same as he was back then.

He disliked me back then!

Of course, it's mostly because he gets along well with his granddaughter, which makes him feel threatened.

I never expected that after so many years, it would still be the same.

"Hehe." Zhou Chu could only nod in response to his doubts.

Because he didn't know exactly what Gao Qinyi liked about him.

"Well, now that she brought you back today, I roughly know what she means." Grandpa sighed, giving a bitter smile. "It's her choice, there's nothing I can do. But!"

He paused for a long time, then patted Zhou Chu's shoulder heavily with his rough, large hand.

"If you dare to wrong her, I, your old man, will not let you off the hook."

"No problem."

I thought the old man would say something profound and break up the couple.

In the end, all that was left was a blessing.

“From now on, you need to be more assertive. Don’t always let Qinqin handle everything. As a grown man, isn’t it embarrassing to rely on a woman to take care of things?”

"Mm." Zhou Chu nodded.

That old man had a really strong grip; it made my shoulder ache.

But he didn't know what to say.

All we can do is silently endure it.

When are you getting married?

This unexpected question completely baffled Zhou Chu.

The topic of marriage was brought up twice in one day.

As expected of a grandfather and granddaughter, they even speak in the same way, skipping the dating stage and going straight to marriage.

"Well..." Zhou Chu chuckled dryly, "It mainly depends on Sister Qin's opinion."

"This won't do," Grandpa sighed again, looking at him with exasperation. "Have you forgotten what I just told you? Can't you be a little more assertive? Can't you just set a date for the wedding?"

Zhou Chu really wanted to tell him that the two of them had only just started dating.

But all that came out of his mouth was, "Grandpa is right, let me discuss it with Sister Qin."

"Stop discussing it. Let's get the wedding done this year. Then we old folks can rest easy when we're gone." As he spoke, he looked at Zhou Chu and sighed, "It's just a pity it's you, kid."

Zhou Chu was speechless.

What do you mean by "it's a pity you're the one"?

And why do you sigh so often?

"Grandpa, let's watch TV," Zhou Chu tried to change the subject.

"No, tell me, how is Qinqin doing at university? Does she have a lot of boys pursuing her?"

"Pretty much." Zhou Chu nodded, he acknowledged Gao Qinyi's good looks.

She has also heard that quite a few senior students have confessed their feelings to her.

But in the end, without exception, they all failed.

After all, Gao Qinyi already has someone she loves.

"So she actually..."

"You're that good, aren't you?" Zhou Chu interrupted him with a smile, cutting off his sarcastic remarks.

"That's more like it!" Grandpa finally laughed.

Zhou Chu roughly understood what he meant.

He finally turned to watch TV.

Zhou Chu looked around the room; the decorations were quite old.

Inside the kitchen, Gao Qinyi had clearly already put the chopped ingredients into the pot.

It should be ready after just one deep-fry.

Fifteen minutes later.

Two steaming hot dishes were served.

Seeing Gao Qinyi wiping her sweat with the back of her hand, Zhou Chu subconsciously handed her a tissue.

Gao Qinyi readily accepted it.

Grandpa, who had been watching all this quietly, simply nodded.
