Chapter 33 Printing House

At nine o'clock in the morning, the bus arrived at the county town.

Although Tian Youliang was the party secretary, he usually went to the commune more often than to the county town, only once or twice a year.

Seeing people coming and going in the county town, he was at a loss for a moment, and said with some regret: "It would have been better if I had brought Principal Zheng with me. Principal Zheng often comes to the county education bureau for meetings, so he must know a lot of people."

Jiang Wanyue looked in the direction and took a step forward: "No hurry, let's go to the bookstore first."

Tian Youliang thought she was going to be successful, so he hurried to catch up with her, but he saw her buy a map in the bookstore and then come out.

There were tables and chairs in front of the bookstore. Jiang Wanyue sat down, took out a pen from his jacket pocket, and drew several circles on the map.

She thought for a moment and said, "Uncle Tian, let's go to the printing factory first."

Tian Youliang was delighted: "Do you know anyone?"

"No." Jiang Wanyue put the map away and said, "Let's try our luck."

Tian Youliang: “…”

He thought that Teacher Jiang was a promising person, but he didn't expect that he was just like him, a headless fly.

He sighed to the sky, but could not think of any other solution, so he could only follow.

The printing factory was not far from here. The two walked for half an hour and finally arrived. It was a bit far from the city and there were not many people at the door.

The big iron gate was closed, and the guard room was also closed.

Jiang Wanyue stretched out her hand: "Uncle Tian, give me the certificate issued by the team."

Tian Youliang opened his briefcase and handed over the list.

Jiang Wanyue took the list, walked to the guard room and knocked hard. The person guarding the door was not an old man, but a young man in his thirties.

The man, wearing a gray-blue uniform, stood up and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Hello, big brother. This is the secretary of our Xiaojing Brigade. I am a teacher at the Xiaojing Brigade Primary School." Jiang Wanyue handed over the certificate. "We heard that the printing factory had a batch of old printing machines to be disposed of, so we came to take a look."

"Really?" The man really didn't know about this. "Wait here for a moment. I'll go ask."

After he finished speaking, he walked into the factory.

Tian Youliang's eyes widened: "Xiao Jiang, we are selling fish, why do you want to see other people's old machines? And where did you hear this information?"

"Lianhu County Printing Factory has been established for thirty or forty years. Over the years, some old machines must have been eliminated. This is inevitable." Jiang Wanyue smiled and said, "In the early years, many of these machines were not wanted by foreign countries and were sold to domestic factories at high prices. They bought them at such high prices, so they must be reluctant to throw them away. Naturally, they want to find buyers. Doesn't this give us an excuse to enter the factory?"

Tian Youliang swallowed his saliva and said, "As a teacher, it's not good for you to lie to others, right?"

"Who said I was lying?" Jiang Wanyue said, "Our elementary school really needs a printer. New ones are too expensive, so an old one is just right."

As he was speaking, the young man guarding the door came back and said, "Our office director invites you in."

Tian Youliang: “…”

What this young wife said was actually right, and he actually managed to sneak in.

At this moment, he understood why Principal Zheng praised Teacher Xiao Jiang so much. If it were him, he would never be able to step into the door of the printing factory.

The printing factory is not very big, and the director's office is on the first floor of the office building in front.

The two walked in, and the director smiled and said, "You are here for the old printing press, right? Our printing factory has upgraded its machines three times and eliminated more than 30 old machines. How many do you want?"

Jiang Wanyue said: "Let's go take a look first."

The director took them to the warehouse.

This warehouse is probably rarely opened. Once opened, it is full of dust. Several large machines are covered with oil paper and placed on the ground, and some small machines are placed on the shelves.

Jiang Wanyue finally saw the mimeograph machine in the corner. It was the oldest type of printer and needed to be operated manually. It was very troublesome to shake it to print one page. In fact, she looked down on it. However, considering the situation of Xiaojing Brigade Primary School, this was the only one they could afford.

She asked, "How much is this?"

The director had been looking forward to it, thinking that the two men could help solve the problem of the old machine, but he didn't expect that they would ask about the hand-cranked mimeograph machine.

His face suddenly turned ugly. "This is the earliest batch of machines in the printing factory. It needs manual operation and it is easy to damage the paper. It was eliminated after two years of use. I suggest you use this..."

Jiang Wanyue smiled and said, "Director, maybe we didn't make it clear just now. This time we are buying printing equipment for a village primary school. The school has limited funds and can only afford a mimeograph machine. One is enough."

The director was choked.

If he had known that he could only sell a very primitive mimeograph machine, he would not have wasted his time meeting these two people.

But since it has come to this, the only thing to do is to continue the discussion. He said, "Although this machine is difficult to use, I spent a lot of money on it when I bought it. It cost more than 300 yuan per unit. After so many years, it must have a discount. I will sell it to you for 100 yuan per unit."

"Director, this price..." Jiang Wanyue looked embarrassed, "Our school is really poor. Before, the classrooms were leaking. It was the Education Bureau that helped us buy fish for our school. Only then did we have the money to buy new tiles."

The director looked surprised and asked: "Did the Education Bureau buy the fish at your school?"

Their printing factory has always been cooperating with the Education Bureau. Yesterday, he went to the Education Bureau to do some work and had a meal in the cafeteria there. Someone joked that if he had gone to the meeting two days earlier, he could have had a bowl of delicious fish soup.

I also told him that the Education Bureau gave five kilograms of fish to each of the elderly in the unit on the Double Ninth Festival, which made some of the other units very envious.
