Settling Down on the Horizon (Road Trip Novel)

This is a road trip novel.

The protagonists are Nima Wangdui (Tibetan) and Shen Yi, aged 22 and 27 respectively.

Shen Yi witnessed his lover's infidelity firsthand, and the beloved fried pancake vendor who was like a good friend to him passed away. On the night he witnessed his lover's betrayal, he reflected on his past, which was full of setbacks.

His father engaged in fraudulent marriage, his mother cheated with someone of the same sex, and he himself couldn't escape this curse, as his sexual orientation was also male. It seemed like a curse hung over his family. Following this, he was abandoned by his grandfather, who once doted on him the most.

Shen Yi had an執著 (obsession) with family, but unfortunately, his lover betrayed him both spiritually and physically. He thought he would have a beautiful future, but feeling hopeless, he impulsively resigned and booked a flight to Tibet, forgetting that it was winter.

Upon arriving at a rural guesthouse, he discovered the heating was broken, which gave him the opportunity to authentically experience Tibetan life. Every day spent with Nima Wangdui was a healing experience for him.

With the emotional storyline as a secondary focus, the road trip narrative as the main vehicle, the novel primarily explores the experience of Tibetan life.

It aims to depict real Tibetan life, without any fabrication. The story is a 1v1 romance; the shou (bottom/receiver) had an ex-partner and was the gong (top/giver) in that relationship. The Tibetan gong (Nima Wangdui) is a virgin.

Shen Yi is the main perspective character (main shou). This is not set in a fictional world; same-sex marriage is not legal in this background. Personally, I divide the Tibetan areas into Western Sichuan and the autonomous prefectures within Tibet. Western Sichuan is considered more open-minded, while the autonomous prefectures are more conservative. Updates daily at 6 PM.
