Chapter 417: The Fall of Huainan

Chen Hongfan personally climbed up the city gate tower and looked out.

In the dim light, there were only a few hundred torches outside the city.

After checking the imperial edict and seal, Chen Hongfan was still a little worried, so he sent someone who knew Ding Kuichu out of the city to verify his identity.

Under the cover of night, Ding Kuichu looked a little haggard in the firelight.

"Cough cough cough." Ding Kuichu didn't say anything, but responded simply with a cough.

Shun Jun, who was pretending to be a personal soldier, said, "Lord Ding is injured and cannot speak."

The Shun army with a knife on his back threatened Ding Kuichu in a low voice: "If you dare to say a word, you will die today."

"explain."

"How did Governor Ding come to Huainan after his defeat?"

Ding Kuichu glared and said, "How else can I come? I ran! If it wasn't for the lateness of the day, I would have been caught up by the bandits."

"Hurry back and tell Chen Hongfan that if he doesn't open the city gate, I will punish him according to military law!"

After the Ming army confirmed Ding Kuichu's identity, they turned around and returned to Huainan City.

A quarter of an hour later, the gates of Huainan city opened wide.

Ding Kuichu led his troops into the city. Just as the city gate was about to close, the Shun army disguised as Ming troops suddenly rushed towards the city wall.

Immediately afterwards, the Shun army hiding in the darkness burst into deafening shouts of killing.

Chen Hongfan, who was standing on the city gate tower, sighed: "Ah, Ding Kuichu is harming me!"

"Order all troops not to resist, surrender!"
