Chapter 527 Wu Bikui Surrenders

More than a dozen spearmen on Wubikui's flank were shot dead by the Ming army with arrows.

The soldiers behind were probably too nervous or the scene was too chaotic so they didn't see it. They didn't pick up the spears on the ground to fight the enemy immediately, but continued to shoot at the Ming army with their bows and arrows.

This is the opportunity!

Ming army cavalry general Chen Dajing patted the flag-bearing soldier on the shoulder and led his troops to rush in through the gap.

Once the infantry formation was broken by the cavalry, victory was no longer in doubt.

Infantry without spears and chevaux de frise were simply unable to withstand the charge of cavalry.

Three hundred cavalrymen charged in from the gap, their fast horses charging and trampling, their light swords slashing and hacking.

The soldiers fighting in the front were fighting bravely against the enemy when they suddenly heard a commotion on the flank.

Looking around, I saw a Ming cavalry rushing into the formation and killing people left and right.

"The Ming cavalry is charging in!"

"Go and stop them!"

"The spearmen are all in the front row killing the enemy and can't retreat!"

Wu Bikui's flank troops were thrown into chaos in an instant.

Wu Bikui panicked for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure.

Only incompetent generals will panic.

After quickly analyzing the situation and terrain on the battlefield, Wu Bikui turned and looked at the thousand personal soldiers around him.

These people are both his clansmen and his elite.

After scanning the faces of these people, Wu Bikui pointed to a mound in the distance behind him and said, "You should set up an ambush here immediately, and when the Ming army's pursuers arrive, immediately organize a counterattack."

Not long after the arrangements were made, Wubikui's flank was the first to collapse.

Led by them, the entire army began to retreat.

The Ming army took advantage of the situation and attacked.

The defeated soldiers first flew around like headless flies, and as they were running they encountered an ambush of friendly troops.

They organized themselves to fight again, but were defeated again!

The defeated soldiers fled in panic.

The Ming army pursued the enemy from noon until dusk before they withdrew calmly.

Wu Bikui, who fled to Wuding City, knew that he was no match for the Ming army, so he withdrew from Wuding overnight and sent people to deliver a letter of surrender to the Ming army expressing his willingness to negotiate.

Of course the Ming army disagreed.

Especially those chieftains who followed in suppressing the rebellion.

They also hoped to divide Wu Bikui's territory, population and money to celebrate the New Year.

After being rejected, Wu Bikui had no choice but to continue retreating.

Within half a month, the six prefectures and counties of Dingyuan, Wuding, Meitan, Yao'an, Dayao and Lufeng that had been captured earlier were all lost.

Only his hometown Yuanmou is still in his hands.

But everyone knows that it is only a matter of time before Yuanmou is lost.

Inside Yuanmou's camp, Wu Bikui slammed the table and said, "This is so fucking frustrating!"

"We can't defeat them if we unite our forces, and we can't defend them if we divide our forces! I've never felt so frustrated in all these years!"

The general next to him advised: "My lord, don't get angry and hurt yourself..."

Wu Bikui became even angrier after hearing what he said.

He slapped the man in the face and said, "My life is almost gone, and you told me not to get angry and make me sick. Is this the kind of thing that should make me sick and make me sick?"

The general covered his red and swollen face and stepped aside in a depressed mood.

After beating the man, Wu Bikui finally regained a bit of composure.

He closed his eyes, sat on the chair next to him, thought for a while, and then opened his eyes.

Defeat is inevitable.

There are more than 300 chieftains of all sizes in Yunnan. He is neither the most powerful nor has any appeal.

If he had not been fooled by Sha Dingzhou, he would never have rebelled.

Now it’s difficult to get off the tiger’s back!

I am reluctant to surrender, but if I don't surrender I will die.

At that time, he and his relatives and close relatives will be beheaded in public.

The tribesmen, territory, money and grain were divided up by other chieftains.

"No, I can't die like this!" Wu Bikui stood up as he spoke.

"What does your Excellency mean?" another general couldn't help but ask.

"It doesn't matter whether I live or die. I must pull Sha Dingzhou into the water before I die." Wu Bikui looked determined.

"Sir..." the general tried to persuade.

"No need to persuade me!" Wu Bikui gritted his teeth and said, "I will go to the outside of the camp to surrender to the Ming army tomorrow morning. Those of you who are willing to surrender can surrender, and those who are unwilling to surrender can find a way out on their own."

The next morning.

Wu Bikui first sent someone to deliver a letter of surrender to the Ming army, expressing his attitude of surrender.

A secret letter was sent along with the letter of surrender.

In his letter, he wrote in detail that Sha Dingzhou also participated in the rebellion, but changed his mind at the last minute and betrayed him.

After receiving this information, counselor Zhou Ding did not dare to act on his own. He sent someone to tell Mu Tianbo the news, and at the same time sent a large force to escort Wu Bikui to Yunnan Prefecture.

Inside Yunnan Prefecture City, Mu Tianbo stared at the secret letter in his hand in silence.

Butler Yu Xipeng stood by and asked cautiously, "What is this?"

"The news from the front line said that Sha Dingzhou also participated in Wu Bikuide's rebellion, and the letters between Wu Bikuide and them are on their way to Yunnan Prefecture."

Yu Xipeng didn't say anything and frowned.

Mu Tianbo looked up and asked, "What do you think?"

"We need to be cautious about this matter!" Yu Xipeng's expression was solemn.

"How to be cautious?" Mu Tianbo asked again.

Yu Xipeng thought for a moment and said, “Whether the evidence in Wu Bikui’s hands is true or false, Sha Dingzhou can shirk responsibility.”

"Huh?" Mu Tianbo was stunned: "No way? Is there such a thing in the world?"

"Yes!" Yu Xipeng began to analyze to Mu Tianbo.

"If the evidence in Wu Bikui's hands is true, then Sha Dingzhou can explain that he discovered that Wu Bikui had ulterior motives, so he deliberately deceived him into rebellion."

"No!" Mu Tianbo shook his head: "Since Sha Dingzhou found out that Wu Bikui had ulterior motives, why didn't he tell me right away? Instead, he wrote a letter to encourage him to rebel?"
