Chapter 35 Injured
There were some woods and bushes nearby. It was dark and all the street lights were broken. Xu Zhengnan and I turned on our flashlights and searched inside the woods.
As I was walking, I suddenly felt something cutting my calf. The stinging sensation made me gasp.
"What's wrong?" Xu Zhengnan heard my groan and swept the flashlight towards me.
I was just about to answer when I heard a faint crying sound. I immediately held my breath and made a "hush" gesture to Xu Zhengnan.
He also heard intermittent sobbing in the darkness.
The two of us followed the sound and found Mingming squatting on the ground, hugging her knees and crying behind a tree.
Xu Zhengnan immediately reached out and helped him up, "Mingming!"
You can see that he is also very anxious, but he doesn't show it.
After Mingming heard Xu Zhengnan's voice, he looked up and saw that familiar face, and he immediately burst into tears. He threw himself into Xu Zhengnan's arms, "Brother Zhengnan, I'm lost, I'm so scared, I feel like there's a ghost here..."

Mingming sobbed and replied, "I know, but my basketball is lost, what should I do?"
"I'll buy you a new one tomorrow."

I was watching this scene from the side, feeling happy. My parents should be relieved now that Mingming has been found. This was the first time I observed this brother from the same mother and father up close. His face was round and full, like a peach, and his eyes were not big, but very pretty. He was obviously a clever little boy.
Mingming noticed me and asked curiously, "Uncle Zhengnan, who is this beautiful sister? Is she your girlfriend?"
After hearing this, I came to my senses and looked at Xu Zhengnan awkwardly, waiting for his explanation.

"Oh." Mingming stared at me and suddenly smiled sweetly, "I like this sister so much!"

A ripple appeared in my heart, and for a moment I thought the little boy in front of me was so cute, and my heart softened.
Xu Zhengnan carried Mingming outside, and I was about to follow him, but the severe pain in my calf made it difficult for me to move. I turned on the flashlight to look at the wound, and then I realized that the injury was serious. A wound about seven or eight centimeters long was exposed, and I could see that there was slight skin damage.
I was so anxious to find Mingming that I forgot about the pain.
I felt physically nauseous and dizzy, but I managed to hold it in.
Xu Zhengnan also saw my wound, and his voice sank, "Why is it so badly injured? What cut you?"
"I don't know, it looks like a wire? Or a piece of iron?" I replied. It was pitch black here, and if I went to look for the thing that cut me, I didn't know how long it would take.
Mingming said to Xu Zhengnan worriedly, "Brother Zhengnan, my sister is injured. Let's take her to the hospital!"
"Okay." Xu Zhengnan put Mingming down, "Mingming, you walk by yourself, I'll carry her."
Hearing this, I panicked and quickly declined, "No need to carry me, I can walk by myself..."
As I said this, I tried to take a step and walk, but as soon as I walked, I felt the pain of the wound being torn, so I had to stay still to avoid tearing the wound again.
Xu Zhengnan walked up to me with a cold face, squatted down, and turned his back to me. His tone was a bit commanding, "Come up."
I looked at his broad shoulders and was too embarrassed to lie on him. It was only until Mingming urged me that I reluctantly lay on his back.
Xu Zhengnan stood up easily. I put my arms on his shoulders, but I didn't dare to hook them around his neck. I just stretched them out stiffly. After I took a few steps, his cold voice came over, "Are you a zombie? Can't you bend your arms?"
My face felt hot and I quickly hooked my arms around his neck, our bodies pressed closely together, exchanging each other's warmth. I didn't know if he could feel my heartbeat. If he could, he would definitely think I had a heart attack because my heart was beating so loud and irregularly.
After walking out of the woods, there was dim moonlight in the basketball court. Xu Zhengnan carried me all the way across the basketball court, and then we passed the rusty iron net. Mingming followed behind us, very well-behaved.
When we got to the road, Xu Zhengnan's car was parked there. He put me in the passenger seat, then put Mingming in the back seat and drove towards the hospital.
"You don't have to accompany me when we get to the hospital. You can take Mingming home. I can do it alone." I said to Xu Zhengnan halfway.
He turned his head and glanced at me. There was no emotion in his distant eyebrows and eyes. His eyes were like the surface of a frozen lake, without a single ripple or wave. "Call Shen Yixiao over."
Shen Yixiao?
I guess I just finished making love with Lu Xiaoyun, so I don’t want to call him over.
I wanted to change the subject, so I turned around and looked at Mingming who was already asleep, "What's his full name?"
"Li Qingming." Xu Zhengnan replied.
Qingming Festival? I was a little surprised and didn't know why my parents gave me this name.
Xu Zhengnan added, "Your parents hope that he will be clear-minded and not be like you."
It would have been better for him not to explain. He had no intention of saving my face at all. I smiled awkwardly and turned to look at the night view outside the window without making myself look bad.
In Xu Zhengnan's heart, I must be very stupid and naive. A rational person like him probably doesn't even want to have a friend like me, so as not to lower the level of his social circle.
After arriving at the hospital, Xu Zhengnan dropped me off at the hospital entrance and left first. This was my wish, and he didn't have to stay with me.
Watching the car go away, I secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Just as I was wondering whether I should jump in by myself or find someone to help me in, a woman got out of the car not far away and hurried over.
After seeing her, I was a little surprised, "Secretary Li?"
Secretary Li saw me and widened her eyes slightly, "Madam, why are you here?"
I pointed to the wound on my left calf and said with a wry smile, "I got cut accidentally. I came to the hospital to get it treated. What about you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Secretary Li shook his head and said, "No, Secretary Lu had some problems and asked me to come and keep her company for the night."
Isn’t Lu Xiaoyun working overtime in the company to accompany Shen Yixiao? What could go wrong? I reached out my hand and asked Secretary Li to support me, and we walked towards the hospital together.
