The mulberry tree stayed in the courtyard house for one night, then disappeared again.
The neighbors in the compound were all talking about this, but whether or not someone rents a place is their own business, and Aunt Lan and the others were just being sarcastic.
They didn't dare to be sarcastic to Bu Ling, after all, they were experienced and could naturally see the subtle chemistry between the two young people.
Especially since Buling is not someone to be trifled with. If she finds out, that girl might come up with some troublesome schemes. Aunt Lan is a prime example of what can happen to someone like that.
This girl has endless ways of tormenting people, and she's especially good at exploiting people's weaknesses, specifically using her two vital organs to torment her.
Bling had no idea that Aunt Lan was full of complaints about her; at that moment, she was eating roasted sweet potatoes with her colleagues around the stove.
I must say, on this cold day, a bite of a sweet roasted sweet potato instantly brings back that feeling. If only there were a cup of hot milk tea, it would be perfect, instantly transporting me back to my university days.
Everyone sat together, listening to Sister Ma recount how unreasonable her mother-in-law was and how much she favored her youngest son.
With a sweet potato in his mouth, Bu Ling said, "Ma Dajie, you're too easy to talk back to, that's why you got bullied like this."
Wu Yuanyuan nodded as well.
Grandpa Tan and Han Yu couldn't get a word in edgewise; they could only watch as the three women indignantly condemned Sister Ma's mother-in-law.
Sister Ma's husband is a typical example of a blindly filial son, devoted to his family and a workhorse like an ox. Sister Ma, with her gentle temperament, can only endure her mother-in-law and brothers-in-law's domineering behavior at home, eating her food, wearing her clothes, and bullying her and her children.
This year's harvest was poor, and the fields yielded little. So, Sister Ma's mother-in-law simply brought her entire family—nearly twenty people—to the city. They all depended on Sister Ma and her husband's meager allowance to make a living.
If it weren't for the state-run restaurant providing lunch, which Sister Ma could save more than half for her children, she and her three children would have starved to death long ago.
This time it's even worse; her sister-in-law has her eye on Sister Ma's job, and her mother-in-law is working with the whole family to put pressure on her.
If this had happened to Bu Ling, she would have scattered their ashes immediately. But Sister Ma has a good temper, so besides complaining, she could only silently endure it, which made Wu Yuanyuan and Bu Ling quite uncomfortable.
Just like now
“How could I do that? She’s my mother-in-law. If I go against her, wouldn’t people say I’m unfilial?” Sister Ma quickly shook her head.
Bu Ling and Wu Yuanyuan exchanged a glance and remained silent.
Alright, it's their family matter, they shouldn't interfere.
What should have been a leisurely afternoon, passing by in laughter and conversation, turned into yet another one. Perhaps knowing from the last time that Bu Ling was not to be trifled with, she simply looked at her father with pitiful eyes and said nothing.
Bu Ling was in a terrible mood, so she simply left the kitchen. Honestly, just seeing Tan Xiao made her feel irritable.
"Mulberry, what brings you here? Are you here for dinner?" Buling asked, somewhat surprised to see Mulberry enter.
It's not mealtime yet, and Sangshen has been so busy lately that we're practically never seen again. How could she possibly have time to eat out?
Sangshen untied his scarf, smiled slightly at Buling, and walked to Buling's side: "The bookworm's matter is settled. Do you want to go and get the bathtub back?" He winked at Buling.
Bling immediately understood
"Of course I want it! I was just talking about it the other day. Now that it's all done, shall we go now?"
"Let's go now, it's getting late, and it'll be dark by the time we get back," said Sangshen.
“Okay, I’ll go ask the manager for leave right now.” Without delay, Bu Ling immediately knocked on Manager Zhu’s office door.
After hearing the whole story, Manager Zhu didn't accuse Bu Ling of neglecting her work for personal matters: "Go ahead, let Xiao Wu take your place, then it won't count as taking leave."
"Thank you, Manager Zhu!" Bu Ling immediately thanked him. This was great; it meant she had another day off.
Manager Zhu nodded, his usual indifferent expression revealing his true nature. Bu Ling, quick-witted as ever, immediately withdrew, thoughtfully closing the door behind her.
I spoke to Wu Yuanyuan again and gave her the bicycle keys so she could ride the bicycle home after get off work.
Wu Yuanyuan readily agreed, saying it was a small matter, but she cautioned, "Be careful." That quack doctor seemed to have a lot of tricks up his sleeve.
Bu Ling found it quite amusing; she didn't understand why Sister Yuanyuan had such a strong opinion about mulberries, even giving them the nickname "quack doctor."
"Okay, Sister Yuanyuan~"
Wu Yuanyuan glared at her
Bling raised an eyebrow at her, then turned and left the kitchen.
"let's go!"
Sangshen took off her scarf and wrapped it around Bling's neck: "It's cold in the jeep too, don't catch a cold."
Bling smiled smugly: "Okay, I understand."
Good-looking boys are indeed kind-hearted.
A fleeting smile crossed Sang Shen's eyes; he loved the little black girl's unpretentious nature. The two left the state-run restaurant one after the other.
A car was parked outside the restaurant; it was the same old Jeep from last time, but Xie Dong was driving it now.
The two got into the back seat, and Xie Dong greeted them, "We meet again, Comrade Bu Ling."
"Stop talking nonsense, hurry up!" Sangshen urged, then turned to Buling and said, "Ignore him, he's just bored." Her tone was incredibly gentle.
What are you talking about? Don't you know how to keep your distance from your brother's woman?
Bling kept smiling
Xie Dong glanced sideways, but obediently started the car. He hadn't expected Sang Xiaoqi to have this side to her. If those people in Kyoto saw this, they'd be utterly astonished.
The mischievous little devil, Sang Jia Xiao Qi, actually has such a gentle side.
Along the way, Sangshen explained to Buling why it was only being done now.
Ultimately, it came down to what Buling said: the captain's mother had been bribed and refused to release him, and his brother was also being watched, restricting his movements, which is why it had taken so long.
