In the evening, Bu Ling and Wu Yuanyuan went home from get off work together and ran into Widow Liu at the gate of the compound.
Widow Liu's face was flushed, and she walked with a limp, looking as if she were ill—at least that's how Wu Yuanyuan perceived her.
"Sister-in-law Liu, are you alright? Should I take you to the hospital?" Wu Yuanyuan was a kind-hearted woman.
Sister-in-law Liu was surprised that anyone would pay attention to her. Her body stiffened for a moment, but she immediately returned to normal, turned around, and smiled gently: "Sister-in-law is fine, thank you Yuanyuan. Sister-in-law can just go home and take some medicine."
Wu Yuanyuan: "But..." You really look uncomfortable.
Bu Ling secretly tugged at her: "Sister Liu, we won't bother you anymore. We still have to cook. We're exhausted after a long day at work."
Aunt Liu kept smiling and made way for the two of them. Urged on by Bu Ling, Wu Yuanyuan rode her bicycle into the yard.
Bu Ling truly hadn't expected that even after the last incident caused such a stir, Sister Liu hadn't shown any restraint. The way she acted just now clearly indicated she'd just been through something terrible. She wondered if Jiang Sheng knew about it.
Thinking of Jiang Sheng's dim-witted nature, she felt it was probably hopeless.
Sister Liu is truly an amazing person!
Back in the courtyard, Wu Yuanyuan wanted to ask something, but Buling immediately said, "Sister Yuanyuan, I'm going back now, I'm so tired!"
"Okay," Wu Yuanyuan could only swallow the words that were on the tip of her tongue, "Then you should get some rest."
"Okay." Buling pushed her bicycle quickly into the house. She was joking, but what if Sister Yuanyuan asked her? She was an innocent young girl; how could she explain something like that? She'd better hurry up and slip away.
As she entered the house and turned to close the door, she saw Widow Liu enter the yard. She gave an awkward smile and immediately closed the door.
Widow Liu seemed indifferent. Ever since that incident, her reputation had been completely ruined. Some men avoided her like the plague, but many more men were now seeking her out.
Ha~ Men are all the same.
Bling has a strong mentality; the embarrassment only lasted a moment, and she was completely forgotten once the door was closed.
She looked at the room she had lived in for half a year, which now belonged entirely to her from this day forward. She slowly paced around the room, taking in its size and considering renovation plans.
The room is three meters wide and six meters long, totaling eighteen square meters. This is the actual usable area, more than enough for her by herself.
The house wasn't very big, so the layout was quite simple. In just three minutes, she had figured out how to renovate it. All that was left was to find someone to help her with the renovations.
She really didn't know where to look for anyone, but no problem, she could ask her neighbors for help. Speak of the devil, and he appears!
"Knock--"
Sangshen pushed open the door and saw Buling standing in the middle of the room, seemingly lost in thought. He asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Bu Ling didn't hide anything from him: "I'm thinking about where to find people to renovate the house."
"Remodel?" Mulberry asked in confusion.
"Okay, you can close the door first." Bling didn't intend to publicize it.
The mulberry obediently closed the door.
“I bought this house, and now it belongs entirely to me. Before, I was renting it, so I couldn’t do much. Now I have to decorate it to my liking.”
Sangshen was surprised that the little black girl was so decisive, handling such a big matter as buying a house all by herself without making a sound. However, he liked it: "How much did it cost?"
Bling held up three fingers and shook them.
"That's not expensive at all; Aunt Tian is quite reasonable," Sangshen said.
Bling grinned, revealing her small white teeth: "From now on, I'm a homeowner."
"Yes, yes, Bu Xiaoling has a house." Sangshen was happy for her too: "Do you have enough money?" If not, I'll give you my salary.
"That's enough, that's enough."
Mulberry was a little disappointed, having missed an opportunity to shine.
However, there's another one waiting for him: "How do you plan to modify it?"
He perked up when talking about this Bling.
“Look there, in the northwest corner, I plan to build a heated kang (a traditional Chinese bed-stove) that goes all the way to the end. Then I’ll build half a fire wall on the south side of the kang, leaving a door in the middle and a wardrobe on the other side. That way, it will be divided into two small rooms, and cooking and sleeping can be separated.”
"We also need to build a stove right next to the fire wall, so that cooking and heating the kang (heated brick bed) can be done at the same time. Finally, we need to install a chimney, otherwise I'll always have to leave the door open while cooking. It's okay in the summer, but I'll freeze to death in the winter."
"And another thing, put a cupboard next to the stove for easy serving of food, and put the grain jar next to the cupboard. Then there's the table, which is placed by the window. You can eat, read, chop vegetables, and do your hair on this table. On the other side of the room, there's a shoe cabinet and a washstand. That should be about it."
As she spoke, Buling outlined the approximate location for the mulberry, asking, "What do you think?"
Looking into the little girl's bright eyes, Sangshen pretended to ponder for a moment and asked, "Why do you need such a big kang (heated brick bed)?"
Bling choked, "That's really good at grasping the key points."
"Sleeping won't work; a big kang (heated brick bed) is much more comfortable to sleep on."
Mulberry said with ill intent, "Oh, I see. I thought you were considering the future."
Bling immediately understood. She felt a little embarrassed, as she had indeed considered this possibility.
Sangshen looked at her with a half-smile until she was about to explode before she looked away, saying, "I misunderstood."
Bling glared at him
Mulberry was unfazed and even thought the little black girl was just being coquettish: "Alright, leave the rest to me. I'll find someone to modify you."
"Are you looking for someone?"
Sangshen nodded: "After all, I should do my part too."
Bling felt a tickle in her heart after being teased, "Then I'll leave it to you. I won't interfere anymore. I won't accept it if the modification doesn't meet my expectations."
