Back at the hotel, Bu Ling thought about it and quietly told Grandpa Tan about Tan Xiao's experience. She looked down on Tan Xiao, but she looked down on Han Yu and her son even more.
He was shameless for taking advantage of a woman's kindness. When Grandpa Tan heard about it, his eyes welled up with tears. He solemnly thanked Bu Ling and then said nothing more.
Bu Ling didn't know how things had developed, but two days later, Han Yu had new wounds on his face; without a doubt, he had been beaten up again.
Would she let this opportunity slip by? Of course not. She launched into another barrage of sarcastic and sarcastic remarks at Han Yu, but Han Yu was truly something else. She'd stormed off in anger just a couple of days ago, but now she was ignoring it all. She certainly had a thick skin.
However, according to Sister Ma, on the night they went to see Tan Xiao, Uncle Tan and his family came to Tan Xiao's house. The Tan family, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, scratched Han Yu's mother's face all over and demanded that Han Yu send his mother to the countryside.
Han Yu had no choice but to compromise, but the surrounding neighbors had many complaints about the Tan family, feeling that they were going too far.
Bu Ling and Wu Yuanyuan were puzzled.
Sister Ma told the two that the Han family, mother and son, had a good reputation in the area, and that she wouldn't have known Han Yu's true colors if she hadn't worked with him.
In response, Bu Ling remarked, "No wonder Han Yu, with a rural household registration, was able to find a job in the city, and such a good one at a state-owned restaurant; it turns out he has some real skills."
However, none of this concerned Bling; she just listened to it as gossip.
Seven or eight days passed, and Bu Ling got used to going to work. That day, Wu Yuanyuan and Tie He made plans to go shopping at the department store, but Bu Ling refused to go along and become a third wheel, so she went alone.
She didn't go straight home; instead, she planned to check the black market. Following Sangshen's advice, she went to the black market near the county hospital, intending to buy some fresh vegetables—she didn't need anything else.
After the New Year, vegetable prices dropped a bit, to 18 cents a pound. Buling didn't buy too much, just five pounds, which cost 90 cents. Seeing that there were fish for sale, she bought one too, planning to make soup at home.
After leaving the black market, it was already late. To save time, she took a shortcut, walking through an alley.
The alleys in the county town are quite complicated, but Buling has been here for more than half a year and has gotten a general feel for them, so he can still find his way around.
She was cycling through the alley when, as she turned a corner, someone suddenly rushed out. Bling couldn't brake in time and was about to crash into the person when she shouted, "Get out of the way! Get out of the way!"
Whether the person was paralyzed with fear or not, they stood still. Bling cursed inwardly, terrified of accidentally hitting them. At the last second, she swerved her bicycle slightly, narrowly avoiding the person. The bike stopped, and Bling angrily retreated.
"Hey, I'm telling you..." What's going on? "Why are you running away? I'm not trying to scam you!" Bling stared wide-eyed as the person who had been standing there motionless just moments before suddenly darted forward like a rabbit.
Just as she was wondering, three young men with red armbands ran out of the alley next door. Buling immediately recognized them.
The three of them acted as if they hadn't seen Bling at all, continuing to chase after the person from before. Watching the four people's backs, Bling immediately understood.
I don't know what that person did wrong to offend someone like that, but it's none of her business. It's already kind of her not to try and extort money from me; I can only accept my bad luck and ride my bicycle into the alley.
After taking two steps, she turned back with a dark expression, realizing she had gone the wrong way.
After changing direction, I got back on my bicycle and continued home.
Unexpectedly, she hadn't gone far when she ran into that unlucky guy again. This time, he was running towards her, and perhaps because he was running so fast, his scarf had come undone. Bling recognized him immediately.
Isn't that the talkative young girl from the market before the New Year?
The little girl also saw Buling. She paused, turned a corner, and headed into another alley.
That alley was a dead end. Bling sighed, but since they were acquaintances, she followed him into that alley.
"Hurry up and get on!" she said to the girl while riding her bicycle.
The girl looked at her in surprise.
"There's a dead end ahead, we can't go any further."
The girl hesitated for a moment, then decided to take a gamble. She took two running steps, jumped onto the back of the bicycle, and smoothly made a turn, riding back the way she came.
She rode her bicycle wobbling through the alleyways until she reached the main road, at which point she breathed a sigh of relief, and at the same time, she heard the person on the back of the bicycle also breathe a sigh of relief.
After riding for a while, seeing that there were no pursuers behind him, Bling stopped his bicycle.
The girl tactfully got down and said, "Thank you!"
Bling pulled down her scarf and raised an eyebrow: "It's me, do you remember me?"
"It's you!" How could the girl not remember? She rarely saw women buying fabric with such a large sum of money.
Buling nodded: "What happened to you? How did you get involved with those people?"
The girl hesitated for a while, but didn't say anything.
"Alright, I won't ask anymore. Just be careful." Bling knew what was going on.
The girl smiled and said, "Thank you. My name is Xia Qingmei, and I'm from the Fifth Brigade of Hongshan Commune."
The girl, Xia Qingmei, looked exactly like the modern woman: thick eyebrows, big eyes, two dark braids, and a cheerful laugh. In any case, Bu Ling had a good impression of her.
"My name is Buling," Buling said succinctly, adding, "I'm a waitress at a state-run restaurant." (If you're trying to repay a debt of gratitude, make sure you don't come to the wrong person.)
"Okay, I understand. Here, take this." Xia Qingmei took out a package from her bosom and put it in the basket of the trolley. "I'm going home now. I'll come find you at the state-run restaurant another day."
