Chapter 129 Xia Qingmei

After finishing her work, Bu Ling sat down next to Xia Qingmei with her staff meal.

Xia Qingmei rarely had the chance to eat white flour, so she cherished every bite. When Buling sat down next to her, she had only eaten less than half a bowl of noodles.

Seeing Brling sit down, he smiled at her and said, "Brling, are you done with your work?"

"Well, all the food is sold out, so I'm all set."

"That's great, even such expensive food sells out." Xia Qingmei was very envious.

Buling took a bite of the steamed bun, looking completely absorbed in chewing it. She couldn't reply to what she said.

Xia Qingmei didn't expect a response, she just sighed, ate a noodle, hesitated for a moment, and leaned closer to Buling: "Buling, um, you know what I was doing last time, right?"

"I have some guesses," Bling said cautiously.

Xia Qingmei bit her lip lightly, looked at Bu Ling, and seemed to have something to say.

Bling pretended not to notice; she would say what she wanted to say.

Sure enough, after waiting for a while, Xia Qingmei finally spoke up: "Buling, I think, I think, could you cooperate with me?"

Bling glanced at her sideways.

Xia Qingmei quickly explained, "You don't need to do anything."

Bling: "Go on and tell me more."

Xia Qingmei's face lit up with joy. If Bu Ling said that, it meant she had the same idea. She immediately moved her stool closer to Bu Ling and whispered her thoughts to her.

"I don't want to sell things on the black market anymore, but I'm not familiar with the county town, so I was thinking, I was thinking, could you be my relative? I'll bring you food, that way I won't have to go to the black market." She was using her identity as a resident of Buling City to make a move.

What happened before terrified her parents, and they absolutely refused to let her come to the county town again. This time, they only allowed her to come out because they wanted to thank Buling.

Seeing Bu Ling frown, Xia Qingmei immediately said, "No need for special publicity. Just say I'm a relative from your hometown, and then I'll send you things in a big way so your neighbors know about it. I'll give you a commission, five percent of the profits."

Buling was quite tempted. She had to admit, the terms were really enticing. She wouldn't have to do anything; others would bear all the danger, and she'd get five percent. This business was incredibly profitable.

However: "Why would you ask me for something so good? Why not someone else?" It's like a pie falling from the sky.

Xia Qingmei smiled wryly: "To be honest, you were the first friend I made in the county town, and you saved me. I want to repay you."

Bling nodded; that reason made sense. "What do you have?" It still depended on whether they sold well.

Xia Qingmei's eyes lit up: "We have dried game from the mountains, crops and wild vegetables from the fields, and even homespun cloth and hair ties. Anything is fine with us."

"So many?" This time it was Bling's turn to be surprised. "How many can you provide?"

Xia Qingmei thought for a moment, "Quite a lot. Our village is near the mountains, and there are many hunters in the village, so we have the most prey."

Actually, their brigade was originally called Wujia Village (Five Families Village). The reason for this name is that the villagers are all descendants of five brothers who originally settled there; in other words, everyone in the brigade is related by blood, which is why the people in their village are so united.

However, the village is located near mountains, and the mountainous terrain is mostly barren. People have been struggling to get enough to eat for years. Some started selling their game on the black market. Although dangerous, the money earned could buy food and fill their stomachs. For several years, every household in the village did this.

The brigade leader and village chief's families were also related, and since they shared the same ancestor, everyone would help each other out when something good happened. Xia Qingmei, having been exposed to this from a young age, was naturally familiar with it.

Seeing her like this, Bu Ling thought to herself that it didn't seem like she was doing this alone; it seemed more like a group operation. Otherwise, she wouldn't be so arrogant.

Xia Qingmei continued, "If you agree, I'll come once a week."

After thinking about it for a while, Buling felt that this matter would not do her any harm. If the matter came to light one day, she would also be a victim, and at most, it would be considered that ignorance is no excuse.

"Okay, I agree, but five percent is too little, you need to pay more!" Five percent isn't enough: "I want twenty percent!"

Despite being mentally prepared, Xia Qingmei was still shocked by the 20% figure. She quickly waved her hand and said, "No, no, that means we won't make any money!"

Then, she gritted her teeth and said, "How about eight percent of the profit?"

Bling remained calm and composed.

Xia Qingmei bit her lip, truly unwilling to give up, "Ten percent!"

"Deal!" Bling had only wanted 10% from the start. "After I've eaten, I'll take you to my house to show you around." One should know when to stop.

Xia Qingmei was a little stunned, but she could accept 10%. "Okay, okay, it's good that you agreed," Xia Qingmei said immediately.

Xia Qingmei nodded hurriedly, not even bothering to savor the noodles, and slurped them down with gusto.

After finishing their meal, Bu Ling asked Manager Zhu for leave and took Xia Qingmei to the courtyard. Xia Qingmei couldn't ride a bicycle, so Bu Ling had to carry her.

Xia Qingmei watched Bu Ling's erratic driving and her heart pounded with fear. Last time, she was so focused on escaping that she hadn't paid attention, but this time, experiencing it again was a real test of her nerves. She had never been this scared, not even when she was selling things on the black market.

We strolled along until we arrived at the courtyard. "This is Xinghua Hutong. I live in the innermost room, number eight. If you need to find me, just go there. But it's best to do it at night because no one in the courtyard is there during the day."

Xia Qingmei understood what Bu Ling meant. "I understand."

Bling pointed to her room and opened the door to show it to her. "This is it."

Xia Qingmei nodded and then asked, "Is tonight okay?"

"Sure, I'm fine with anything. I get off work at six in the evening, but if it's too late, where will you stay?" It's not safe for a girl to walk alone at night.
