Chapter 159 Two Families

Sangli?

Why does this name sound so familiar?

Bu Ling looked up and, sure enough, it was an acquaintance: "Uncle Sang Li?" Sang Li was actually Sang Shen's uncle. What a small world!

When Sang Li first saw Bu Ling, she seemed familiar. This was mainly because Bu Ling had changed so much in the past year, and she was very different from the dark-skinned, thin girl she was a year ago. He was a little hesitant to recognize her. It wasn't until he heard that she was also called Bu Ling that he realized that the pretty girl in front of him was the same person from a year ago.

"Long time no see, Buling." Sang Li's usually stern face broke into a smile.

Bu Yi and Liang Boda, who were on the side, also knew about the connection between Bu Ling and Sang Li, but they did not expect that Sang Li was Sang Shen's uncle.

"Xiao San, you know each other?" Grandpa Sang asked in surprise.

Upon hearing the words "mistress," Bu Ling almost lost her shy and obedient demeanor, pinching her thigh hard to stop laughing.

Sang Li's eyes twitched, but he didn't dare to refute the old man. He just talked about his interactions with Bu Ling. When he heard about Bu Ling's past, Sang Shen held Bu Ling's hand with heartache.

He had imagined that Bu Ling's past life would be difficult, but he never expected it to be this hard. At this moment, Sang Shen's eyes were filled with ferocity. Bu Ling had no doubt that if someone from the Du family stood in front of him, he would definitely throw a punch without hesitation.

This was the first time Bu Yi and Liang Boda had heard the detailed version of the story. The two grown men's eyes welled up with tears of heartache. No wonder when they asked their sister about her past, she always evaded the question.

Grandpa Sang and Uncle Sang's eyes were full of admiration. This girl was a good match for their seventh child.

Aunt Sang and her younger sister-in-law, being women, were more sentimental. When they thought about how this sweet-looking little girl had such a painful past, their eyes were filled with pity.

Seeing everyone fall silent because of Uncle Sang's words, Bu Ling tugged at Sang Shen's hand, and Sang Shen immediately reacted: "Alright, today is a good day for me and Lingling, everyone stop looking so sad." As for the suffering that Xiao Hei Niu had endured in the past, he would make up for it by treating her even better in the future.

“Yes, yes, it’s a joyous day, let’s not talk about unhappy things,” Aunt Sang chimed in.

Aunt Sang looked at Bu Ling with even more fondness, and Sang Li quickly made amends by taking out a red envelope from his pocket: "Here, this is a token of my appreciation from Uncle."

Before Bu Ling could react, Sang Li said, "Your aunt's work is demanding, she really couldn't find the time, please don't mind, she also prepared a gift for you." A man behind her handed over a cloth bag, which Sang Li took and gave to Bu Ling: "This is what your aunt chose, see if you like it."

Buling said, "Thank you, Uncle and Aunt." Under the eager gazes of everyone, Buling opened the cloth bag, revealing a camel-colored coat inside. "Thank you, Aunt, I like it very much." This coat looked expensive.

Sang Li nodded: "I'm glad you like it."

After the elders were introduced, it was time for peers. Sangshen pointed to a man sitting upright and introduced him: "This is my eldest brother, Sang Zhang, as in camphor wood."

Buling: "Hello, big brother."

As the eldest brother, Sang Zhang was always serious when dealing with his younger brothers, but Sang Shen was an exception. He smiled indulgently at Sang Shen and took out a red envelope: "Sister-in-law, please don't mind."

"Thank you, big brother." Bu Ling accepted the red envelope and thanked him politely. Big Brother Sang's eyes softened even more.

“This is my second brother, Sangyu, the elm tree,” Sangshen continued.

Sang Erge, wearing glasses and with a refined demeanor, smiled gently when introduced and took out a red envelope: "Sister-in-law."

"Thank you, Second Brother."

Next up was Sang Tong, the third brother of the Sang family; the fourth brother was Sang Zi, the elder brother of Sang Shen; and the fifth and sixth brothers were the twins from the Sang family, Sang Huai and Sang Rong. All of these brothers had prepared red envelopes without prior arrangement.

The Sang family is a large family, which started with Grandpa Sang. He and Grandma Sang had three sons and one daughter. The eldest son, Sande, married Li Huixiu. The second son, Sang Zhi, is Sang Shen's biological father. The third son, Sang Li, married Jiang Xinyi. The youngest is a daughter, Sang Yi, who is still unmarried.

Below are seven grandsons. The eldest, second, and third sons are from the eldest uncle's family; the fourth and seventh sons are from Sang Zhi's family; and the fifth and sixth sons are from Sang Li's family.

This family is clearly dominated by men, no wonder Aunt Sang likes the little girl so much.

After introducing the Sang family, it was time for Buling to introduce her own family: "This is my brother Bu Yi, and this is also my brother Liang Boda."

Although there were only two of them, Bu Yi and Liang Boda did not show any weakness in front of the entire Sang family. They greeted the Sang family members politely but not obsequiously.

After introductions, everyone had a basic impression of each other. It was getting late, so Bu Yi said, "Grandpa, elders, it's getting late. I've prepared some food. Let's eat and chat."

Logically, on the first visit of the man's family, the girl should personally cook to demonstrate her skills. However, Bu Ling was unfamiliar with this custom, and Bu Yi was reluctant to part with his sister. He was also afraid that the man's family would look down on his sister for not being able to cook. Therefore, when he spoke, he specifically emphasized that he cooked it himself, just to see the Sang family's reaction.

The result was very satisfactory. No one in the Sang family showed any unusual expression; a moment's reaction cannot lie.

The Sang family is large, and with the addition of Buyi and his two companions, two large tables were set up to be completely full. Fortunately, Buyi had the foresight to find out how many people would be coming today and borrowed tables and chairs from the logistics department in advance, otherwise it would have been awkward.

The two families took their seats. Buyi and his two brothers sat at the main table with the elders of the Sang family, while the six older brothers of the Sang family sat at another table.

At the dinner table, it was Grandpa Sang who took the first bite before everyone else started eating. Bu Yi saw this and was even more satisfied, as it showed that the family was well-mannered.

Since most of the people present were soldiers, no one mentioned drinking. After eating a couple of bites of food, Grandpa Sang put down his chopsticks and said, "Brother-in-law, you've seen our family situation. Everyone here except for the third son's wife. Xiao Qi is the first grandchild to get married. What are your family's plans? We can discuss it together."

Without waiting for Bu Yi's reply, he continued, "Our family doesn't have that many rules. The children all have jobs, and I'm getting old. This is my plan: once they get married, I'll move out to a different household. I definitely won't let your daughter suffer."

Upon hearing this, the Sang family all put down their chopsticks and looked at Bu Yi and the other two. Bu Yi remained unmoved, his face serious: "Grandpa, our family doesn't have many demands. There's only one thing: that you treat my sister well. You know what kind of life my sister has lived before. I promised my father that I would take good care of my sister, so I will never let her suffer again."

He spoke forcefully, but it was also what he truly felt. If he was going to suffer after getting married, he'd rather support his sister for the rest of his life.

Sang Shen immediately assured him, "Brother, don't worry, I will definitely treat Lingling well. I guarantee it with my life."

Buling glanced at the boy beside her. The boy's eyes were full of seriousness. At least at this moment, Buling believed that this person was willing to risk his life for her. That was enough. Who could say what would happen in the future?

Buyi simply nodded, neither saying he believed nor disbelieved.

Sangshen understood that saying anything now would be pointless, but he wasn't discouraged. He would prove himself to his brother-in-law with his actions.
